PrinceWatercress plays Sly 2: Band of Thieves - Part 5 of 49


For the first time, we're not playing as Sly for a mission...and it'll be far from the last time.

Treasures of the Video

Jade Vase - This one is on one of the balconies near the window leading into Dimitri's office. Just be careful making your way to the safe house and it's yours.

Ivory Jewel Box - This is on one of the balconies near the discotheque entrance. You'll be travelling a little further than you did with the Jade Vase, but this is doable. There are awnings you can jump on nearby to get to the rooftops and make getting this thing back to the safe house easier.

Crystal Chalice - This is at the discotheque entrance. If you can get the Ivory Jewel Box to the safe house, you can get this over there as well.

Murray

Murray is the brawn of the gang, and as a result, he can tear enemies apart with two or three punches unlike Sly. Unlike Sly, however, he's too big for rope walking or any acrobatics that Sly can do. Anything that has blue sparkles normally will have purple sparkles while playing as Murray, so he can still sidle across narrow ledges if he needs to (as big as he is). Despite his shortcomings, Murray is the one you want to bring for when you need to clear a whole room out. Triangle followed by Square finishes them off every single time.

The Fists of Flame is a technique for Murray. Press the assigned button, and you'll light Murray's fists on fire. One hit will do any normal enemy in, including the flashlight enemies.

Water Pump Destruction


You'll need Murray for this one. Here, Murray will be sabotaging the aqua pump room.

To get past the lasers, you'll need to destroy the nearby power boxes. Go up to the ice machine and press Circle to use Murray's stomp move. You'll stomp a block of ice out of the machine, and from here, you can throw the ice block at the power box by facing it and pressing Square. You can also throw items such as barrels and chairs, and the ice machine will provide an endless amount of ice blocks.

You can also knock out enemies and use the Stomp move to pick them up. From there, you can throw enemies at things much like you can with objects. By throwing an object at the flashlight guard, you can knock him out. While the stars are above him, you can Stomp near him to get him up, then throw him into the nearby red lasers to incinerate him. He won't be bothering us anymore.

Run through a gap in the red lasers, then start knocking out rat enemies and throwing them into the aqua pump machine. After enough enemies, you'll knock the aqua pump out of commission and force Dimitri to get water from elsewhere, playing into Bentley's hands in the process.

Now that you've completed the second leg of the episode, it's time for the third leg. Sly will have to pick a few pockets in the theater to access the spotlight control center and turn off all the security around the printing press. Murray will have to destroy all the outside alarm horns so the guards aren't altered. The disco ball in the discotheque will also have to be dropped.

Moonlight Rendezvous


You'll need Sly for this one. For this one, Neyla will appear out of nowhere and see if you can keep up in order to see if you're trustworthy. This one is simple as long as you're fast and you can keep Neyla on-screen at all times. Just hold R1 to run and stay close to Neyla...and try not to let her get way too far. Also, don't worry about any enemies. Neyla will strike them with her whip.

You'll end up at the discotheque entrance at the end, where Neyla will give you the key. In order to go in, however, you'll have to play as Bentley.

  • vertical attack (as Sly; used to knock enemies into the air)
  • downward dive (as Sly; in mid-air only)
  • uppercut (as Murray)
Circle: Action button (near blue/green/purple sparkles and character icons)
  • pickpocket (as Sly)
  • stomp (as Murray; use Square to throw object/enemy)
R1: hold to run

Select: Gadget Grid
  • Control Pad: highlight gadget
  • X button: confirm gadget
  • L1, L2, R2: assign gadget to button pressed

L1, L2, R2: use gadgets assigned to button pressed

Start: pause menu
  • Control Pad: select menu choice
  • X button: confirm choice
  • Start: un-pause game

L3 (press the left analog stick): locate beacons for mission objectives

R3 (press the right analog stick): Enter and exit Binocucom for first-person view
  • Left analog stick: look around
  • Right analog stick: zoom in and out (with up and down on right stick)
  • R1: take pictures with spy camera (when applicable)
