PrinceWatercress plays Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament - Part 3 of 20

In this entry, we qualify for the tournament, but not before racing a boss instead of fighting it. Afterward, we get reacquainted with an old foe.

Vision 1-7

It's time for the auto-scrolling stage! Yep, these things appear again.

Head to the right, and use the tornadoes to get over the pits. Grab the three Dream Stones, then grab the Flying Muu and throw it at the wooden crate you see to get five Dream Stones. Grab the Flying Muu again and double jump to the right. If you want, throw another Flying Muu at the wooden crate ahead for an extra life, then grab a Flying Muu yet again and double jump to the right. Be sure to get the two Dream Stones above as you do so. Use the two tornadoes to pick up two more Dream Stones on the way to the right, then jump right off the Goomi you see for three more Dream Stones as you jump and hover to the right and grab the Goomi on the other side. The screen scrolling will end here. Grab the Flying Muu, double jump to throw it onto the wooden crate above the tornado for an extra life, then continue to the next section. You should have 15 Dream Stones by this point.

Get on the first platform, grab the Flying Muu, double jump to the second platform, grab another Flying Muu, jump to the right and double jump for seven Dream Stones. Continue right and jump and hover to the platforms, grabbing three Dream Stones on the way. Grab the Flying Muu, double jump right, then grab another one and break the wooden crate so you can drop down to the Sun Stone and then climb onto the vines. Get the three Dream Stones around the tops of the vines as you jump your way to the right, then grab and jump off the Goomis as you head to the end. There will be two more Dream Stones around these Goomis, and these should make up the last two of the 30 Dream Stones for this vision. Jump up to the cannon to exit.

Vision 1-8

Go right, grab the Muu, and use it to break the wooden crates to the left. If it hits between the two crates, you can break them both in one strike. Head left, grab another Muu, get the three Dream Stones that you see, then break the two wooden crates to the left with the Muu. Grab another Muu, continue left, double jump near the exit for the first Moon Stone, then go left.

Take the platform you see to the top and hover left for a blue Dream Stone. Get back on the platform, take it to the top, go left through the pinball doors, and grab the three Dream Stones you see before dropping down. Grab the box at the bottom and throw it to the right, then take it up the platform with you, throw it left through the pinball doors at the top, then use it to get the extra life. Take the box back to where you found it, then throw it right again. Get the box again, get back on the platform and throw the box to the left so it goes over the nearby pinball doors and hits a wall. Head back around the room until you find the box again. You can now grab it and double jump to get the key here. Head right to get out of this section.

Go all the way to the right where the pot is and push the pot all the way to the right. Drop the Muu in it, then climb up the vine, jump to the right, grab the Muu and use it to double jump up to the three Dream Stones that you see here. Go back down, double jump another Muu into the pot, and this time, go right through the locked door to enter another section.

Go right, go down the vine while collecting the nearby Dream Stones, then grab the box and throw it right. The Nagapoko you'll find nearby will tell you that Balboa is the boss of this world. Grab the box, jump into the tornado above you, then double jump with the box for the second Moon Stone. Don't forget to get the Dream Stones that are here, too. Grab and throw the box to the left, then go back to the box and throw it right so you can get the Sun Stone. Enter the opening to the right near where the second Moon Stone was to enter the next section.

Grab the Muu and use it to get the three Dream Stones above the two flower pots. Move the lower flower pot slightly to the left and the higher flower pot slightly to the right. Grab the Flying Muu and throw it out of your way, then jump right, grab the Goomi, jump and hover to the right to get the three Dream Stones here, go back left and grab the Goomi before you drop down, grab the Goomi, then jump left off the Goomi. Go back down, grab the Flying Muu, and double jump to toss it into the lower flower pot. If you've got the pot positioned correctly, you'll be able to get the blue Dream Stone with a double jump from grabbing the Muu and get those all out of the way. From here, move the lower pot almost all the way to the left and throw a Muu into it with the double jump, so you can grab the enemy and use it to double jump to the last Moon Stone. You can also do this for the extra life. From here, move the higher flower pot to the right a bit so you can toss an enemy into it, climb up, jump right to the platform, grab the enemy, then double jump to the right to exit the vision.

Vision 1-Boss

When you enter the stage, Nagapoko will tell you that throwing enemies at the boss will slow them down briefly. Also, touching the boss is instant death.

There is a meter at the top that shows your current time, your best time and the progress of both you and the boss. If the boss makes it to the end first, you lose. There are no checkpoints, and if you die at any point here, you're going all the way back to the start.

Run to the right, grab the Muu, and throw it at Balboa, who will be behind you at all times. Grab the Flying Muu, throw it to the right to break two wooden crates at "leaf floor" level, then get the Dream Stones you see along the way as well as the blue Dream Stone you will have uncovered. Grab the Muu you see up ahead and throw it out of your way, then grab the Flying Muu you see, throw it at the wooden crate you see for the first Moon Stone. Go further right, grab the next Flying Muu and throw it at the center of where the two wooden crates to the right are. Grab the next Flying Muu you see and do it again. You'll get an extra life. Go up the vine, jump right and grab the Flying Muu, then use it to double jump to the two Dream Stones above. There will be another Flying Muu up ahead; grab it and throw it to the right to continue. You should have 10 Dream Stones by this point. Go right.

Jump into the tornado to the right to be shot further ahead, and hover so you can reach the next one. Hold the jump button again so you can hover on the way to the right from the second tornado, so you can grab some Dream Stones on the way to the third. Hold the jump button after the third. Grab the Muu (without landing on it), and throw it at the wooden crate to the right. Go up the vine, jump right, grab the Flying Muu, then drop all the way down and throw it at the lower wooden crate of the two for a blue Dream Stone. If you're too slow at this point, Balboa will catch up and you'll have to start over. From here, use the "jump and climb" trick you learned from Nagapoko to go all the way up the vine, jump right, grab the Flying Muu, then jump from vine to vine to get the second Moon Stone. Grab the Flying Muu on the other end, throw it at the center of both crates, then grab the next Flying Muu and double jump above only between the center and right crates for two Dream Stones. You should have 20 Dream Stones at this point. Drop down.

Jump up the trampoline for Dream Stones, fall into the tornado pointed right for an extra life, grab the Flying Muu, head right, grab a Muu, open a path through the crates, go through the tornadoes, continue right, jump on the trampoline, grab the Flying Muu and throw it only at the top wooden crate. Use another Flying Muu to get up to the Sun Stone you have just uncovered. Continue right, grab the Flying Muu, throw it at the center of the two wooden crates in front of you, grab another Flying Muu, double jump to get the three Dream Stones you see, then drop down and to the right. Jump up the trampoline, grab the Flying Muu and double jump to the right to get the blue Dream Stone, bringing you to 30. Go through the pinball doors and grab the last Moon Stone. Balboa will run into the spikes and defeat himself, and if you wait for that, you'll get a 1-Up for doing so. Go through the door. You're done.

Afterwards, you'll be in a cutscene where the field of participants has been narrowed down to a mere ten people. Thankfully, Lolo and Popka have made it, as has Chipple, whom Klonoa finally meets again. Fortunately - or unfortunately - Gantz has also advanced, and he's still a jerk.

Northern Express

The tournament brackets are revealed. Klonoa has to face Joka, who last appeared in Klonoa: Door To Phantomile. Joka is overconfident and gets angry and competitive easily. The Northern Express is then revealed to be the next round.
