PrinceWatercress plays Mega Man 6 - Part 5 of 8

It's fortress time! Here, we head to Mr. X's fortress in an attempt to come face to face with this mysterious man.

Mr. X Stage 1

This stage will push your skills with the Rush Jet Adaptor further! You'll have to avoid spikes as you fly to the ladders with it.

If you punch through the cracked window halfway up the tower, you'll find an alternate path with a few Energy Tanks or extra lives.

The cracked wall on the top path contains an Energy Tank. Break the wall with the Power Armor to get it.

The boss for this section are two robots on rails in the background. They move around a set path and shoot towards the ground, and can also cause damage by running into you. The most annoying thing they can do, though, is turn around and try to run smack into you again.

Hit these guys with charged up Mega Buster shots, and jump over them when they're near you. If you need to, alternate between the Mega Buster and the Plant Barrier, and use the latter when the robots are near you. The shots that come down will still cause the barrier to disappear, though, so watch it.

The Flame Blast does the most damage, but you can also use the Power Armor (if you can charge it up and nail the shots) or Plant Barrier (if you can get close enough. I recommend the Power Armor, as it can push the robots back.

Mr. X Stage 2

There are some fake floors in the ground shortly after the beginning, which are indicated by the see-through lattices in the floor with the spaces below them. The second has spikes, so jump from one side to the other. Better yet, use the Jet Adaptor so you know you made it.

The gold bullet-shaped platforms fall when you stand on them.

All of the enemies here seem to come from Tomahawk Man's stage.

The boss here is some robot that walks on the wall. Use Knight Crusher or Silver Tomahawk against it, and avoid both the bullets that the wall walker shoots out as well as the rocks that come down from the top of the screen. If you use the Knight Crusher, you can hold Up or Down to fire it at an angle.
