PrinceWatercress plays Kid Niki: Radical Ninja (NES) - Part 3 of 4

Well, these bosses were easier...but not by much.

Round 5: vs. Mad Monk

Be ready to attack enemies as you make your way to the right as you start this stage. If you know what you're doing, you'll be able to anticipate where everybody will drop in the bamboo jungle and take them all out with ease.

The monks will run towards you, but they will also throw beads behind them. If that happens, do not touch the beads; you will die. The monks that jump are always the ones that throw the beads.

The bugs with the spears will drop down to attack you if you get close enough. Keep your distance as you hit them.

Duck under the second "cage" in Round 5-5 to enter a bonus area. Here, there are five candles that go out one by one, and you'll need to pick up as many coins and scrolls as possible before that happens. When they go out, the screen flashes blue. Go all the way to the left to exit.

Watch out near the bell for bugs with spears.

To beat Mad Monk, run all the way to the rock that Mad Monk stands on at the start. He will retreat to behind the rock. Get on top of the rock and hit the top of his head, then get your sword and return back to the rock before Mad Monk attacks, as the speech bubble bombs he shoots out are tough to avoid. Lather, rinse, repeat. You just beat Mad Monk in seconds.

Round 6: vs. Samurai Guard

The cream-colored guys will want to stack on top of each other in groups of four. Thankfully, you can take them out instantly as they pile on top of each other.

After the diving red birds, drop down to the ground and walk into the right edge of the water. You'll find a bonus area. Get ready to strike quick-moving rings of birds, and be ultra-careful, as they can get you when you least expect them. There is an extra at the end, but make sure you get rid of all the bird rings first.

After you climb the ladder, you'll skip to Round 6-7. The green guys that stick to the walls will shoot bubbles; keep your distance before hitting them. They will also slide down and move out of your way, making getting around easier if you can't hit them.

The boss here is the Samurai Guard, who can be tough if you don't know what to do. Stay all the way to the left and hit him so you can grab your sword afterwards, then keep trying to hit his body as he is picking up his staff. If the screen turns black, that means you've hit him. Go back to the left and repeat. If you get the timing wrong with your attacks, you may give yourself some more distance to work with on future attempts. This battle takes some time and error, but if you can pull it off, you'll be able to go to Round 7.
