After playing the first five games, it's time to bring the NES era of this series' history to a close with the sixth game.
Plant Man
Welp, the finalists of the first annual robot competition are the Robot Masters here.
This is supposed to be your first Robot Master, believe it or not.
Love how Mega Man's walk cycle is twice as fast as it was in the last five games.
Stag beetle bots will come out of the trees, while grasshoppers will hide in the grass and jump around. (They can be hard to see at times, too.)
The crusher robot is back. This time, he's a bit smaller. He still hurts, and he still uses the same tactics.
To defeat the gorilla robots, keep jumping over their fists and avoiding their shots as you repeatedly shoot them in the eyes.
You'll come across springs after this. Hold the A button just before you bounce up to go even higher and reach the ledges with power-ups on them.
You'll be making much higher jumps on the springs now. Be sure to wait at the edges with the water at the bottom for fish to jump out, which you can avoid or shoot down with a fully charged Mega Buster blast. Be careful; another fish will soon jump out when you destroy one.
To use the blue platforms, shoot them to open them. You can then use them like you normally would.
The flashing dots on the purple flowers in the trees are actually small health pick-ups.
You'll see one of the turrets bouncing up and down on the springs. Very funny, game.
Plant Man is really easy. He just jumps off of walls and shoots his shield at you. You read this right. It's another shield weapon. He is the easiest to take out with the Mega Buster, and if you stand in a corner, you won't have to worry about him. His weakness is the Blizzard Attack. As always, wait for him to shoot the shield away, then avoid it and blast him before the shield appears again.
Beating Plant Man gives you the Plant Barrier (Plant.B). It works just like a barrier. You'll also get the Rush Jet Adaptor, which can let you hover forward while pressing B during a jump. This is an armor suit that involves Rush turning into armor, and when you are in armor, you cannot slide as the armor will be too heavy.
Wind Man
The panda robots shoot black balls at you that track your current location, and alternates between the black balls and the regular bullets. Stay on the move as you destroy them.
The car robots will just move towards you.
The turrets with the rotor blades underneath hover up and down as they shoot red balls at you. These balls will explode when they hit the ground.
The fans on the ground will take you sky high! Use them to reach ladders that you can't normally get to, but watch out for spikes later in the level. The green turrets hover up and down while shooting red balls at you.
The platforms with the green thing next to them turn over as soon as you land on them. When you get on them, jump again immediately to the other side and continue on your way.
Wind Man's two attacks are insane. One of them has him shooting two helicopter blades at you that fly forward in a double helix pattern. The other one has him floating above Mega Man. If you're under him, he'll come down like a hammer. There's no warning to it whatsoever.
Hit Wind Man with the Centaur Flash...and stay on the move! Jump over the Wind Blades he shoots at you when they meet. You'll get Wind Storm (W.Storm) for your efforts. Believe it or not, it's a tiny tornado that travels along solid ground...an attack Wind Man doesn't even do. It's like the Top Spin in Mega Man 3, where you spin like a top in mid-air instead of shooting tops at enemies.
If you don't have the Centaur Flash, you can easily beat him with the Mega Buster. Just make sure not to stay in one place for too long, and slide when he is about to fly over you so you can hit him more easily.
