In this entry, we head to Gaia's Navel. Interestingly, there's more than one way to go through this section of the game.
The path to Gaia's Navel is to the west. Before you go, buy the Hair Ribbon for Randi and equip it on her. To equip items, press Y or X to open the rings for yourself or an ally, respectively, then go to the options ring with Up or Down and select the Equip icon with A when it reaches the box at the top. From here, you'll have three rings for helmets, armor and gauntlets. Put the thing you want to equip on that party member in the box at the top. Press A, then press A again. If your character can wear it, their face will be next to it and it will be equipped. You can always tell who can equip what by highlighting a piece of armor in a store before buying. Just look in the center of the ring and you'll see who can wear it.
Path To Gaia's Navel
You'll meet a new enemy here: the Buzz Bee. Buzz Bee's can shoot stingers at you and cause damage if they connect.
The glove weapon - currently the Spike Knuckle - allows you to perform various punches and kicks on enemies.
If you see the "(Monster Name) gets whacked!" message, that means you just scored a critical hit on that enemy. Critical hits, of course, do more damage than normal, but they only happen every once in a while.
Chests can contain things like healing items and gold, but sometimes they have traps. Poison needles will poison you temporarily, but Poison can be healed with a Medical Herb if you don't want to wait for it to disappear on its own.
At the end of the path is Kippo Village. Besides being able to sleep and save the game at the inn, you can also get supplies here. You can buy the Kung Fu Dress, the Chain Vest and the Arm Guards here. Try to buy what you can for armor here; it's stronger than what you've seen so far.
Gaia's Navel
To the north of Kippo Village is Gaia's Navel itself. Regardless of whether you go east or west, you'll be able to travel deeper into the center and enter the caves. The one to the left leads to the Dwarf Village and Underground Palace, while the one on the right is a dead end where you can buy stuff from Neko and save your game. If you enter the left one with Purim, she will tell you to go to the Haunted Forest. If you choose "Underground Palace," then select "Yes" when Purim asks if you're going in on your own. Purim will leave the party to go into the Haunted Forest herself, leaving you on your own. There is a way to keep her in the party and still be able to go into the caves, but that will be mentioned next time.
