In this entry, we enter the Dwarf Village for the first time and get the sword forged.
In the northeast corner of the village, you'll meet Watts the blacksmith. If you have 100 GP, you'll be able to reforge the Rusty Sword into the Broad Sword. This will bring the sword to its second form, which will allow to gain experience with it again and bring it to Level 2. Once you get the sword up to Level 2, you can hold B for even longer for a more powerful attack once you fill up that second gauge. Weapons have up to eight levels, and the more levels you have, the longer you'll have to hold the attack button and wait to fill up all those gauges or get to the attack that you want, but the wait is worth it.
It should also be mentioned that the Broad Sword raises your agility and evade percentages when equipped. Most weapons will have effects, and you can see what the effects are by checking the weapons in the weapon experience screen.
Once you forge the sword, Watts's hammer will glow and he will find out that the Mana's Sword has seeped into it. He will then make an axe for you, but you'll have to wait a while to get it.
At the armor shop, you can purchase the armor that you saw at Kippo Village and then some. The Spiky Suit and Head Gear is good for Randy, and you can get a Power Wrist for both Randi and Purim.
At the upper-right corner, you can enter the cave to the left and catch a show for 50 GP (the currency for this game). You'll see a horrible attempt at a Rabiteman, then you'll see a tiny sprite on stage. The sprite has a 50,000 GP debt to pay off and it working the debt off bit by bit. If you have 100 GP (which you'll have no choice but to pay), the sprite will be normal size. Go to the cave to the right to enter the Dwarf Elder's room, where you'll find out that the debt was a fake sob story to bilk people out of money. However, the sprite really is a sprite and needs the money to return home after being carried to Gaia's Navel by a flood. Nevertheless, you'll get your 150 GP back.
After re-forging the sword and seeing the show, the ground will shake when you get back to the main village. Here, you'll face Tropicallo. Use 100% attacks from the Spear and Level 1 attacks from the spear and sword to hit Tropicallo. Watch the shadows to avoid getting hit by the jack o' lantern grenades it spits out, and watch out for the vine that comes from the plant that comes out of the ground. Tropicallo will move between three positions in the area, but you can easily get to him. When you beat Tropicallo, you'll get a Spear Orb.
You'll then meet with the Elder and the sprite again. The Elder will tell you that the sprite lost his memories after ending up in Gaia's Navel, and that he needs your help to help him regain him regain his memories. He will also tell you that Tropicallo broke out of a sealed palace, and that their might be a way to unseal it. If there is, the sprite might be able to get his memories back there if you get the power of the Mana Seed. Afterwards, the sprite will join your party (you'll have no choice but to take him), and in the Japanese version, his name is Popoie. You'll also get another boomerang, bringing your current number of weapons to three, which is going to be four soon after this. (The Sprite's gender is never made official, though in the Japanese version, it is hinted that Popoie is male by the pronouns that he uses.)
If you talk to the elder, you'll find out that you can get to the palace by way of a nearby hole, but that you'll need magic to get past the field of lava that Elinee has put there to seal the palace. In order to get rid of it, you'll have to find Elinee in the Haunted Forest and have her dissolve the seal. You'll also get a bow and arrow - the Chobin's Bow - that came with the Sprite when he washed uphere. You'll have four weapons, but that will soon become five.
You'll also see the action grid in action. You can change the maximum attack level for when the enemy is computer controlled, and you can also change the tactics used by the computer controlled version of the character whose action grid you play around with.
Go back to Watts, and you'll be able to take Watt's Axe with you for 100 GP. After that, Watts will open up a shortcut leading back to the cave on the right at the heart of Gaia's Navel. From here, you can forge the Spear to turn it into a Heavy Spear, making it Level 2.
As for what armor to put on the Sprite, there is the Rabite Cap, the Spiky Suit and the Power Wrist.
