PrinceWatercress plays Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves - Part 26 of 42

In this entry, we start the fifth episode of the game. Hope you're able to get a lot of gold for the last few abilities of the game, because you're going to need them, especially in this perilous area.

Episode 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Late one Saturday night, Dimitri calls in to the Cooper Gang for the favor owed back in Holland. The favor? A trip to Blood Bath Bay, one of the most lawless places on earth run by the descendants of pirates. It is here that we learn more about Dimitri: that his grandfather Remy Lousteau was a deep sea driver who made his fortune diving for treasure in underground wrecks. Unfortunately, a young pirate by the name of Black Spot Pete took his diving gear as well as his riches, forcing Remy to retire from treasure hunting a broken man to raise a family. Dimitri, growing up on his grandfather's stories, dreamed of one day recovering the diving gear. This is where the Cooper Gang comes in, and if they can do it, Dimitri might join the team.

When you start the episode, you'll get a slew of new abilities. Sly's Jump Attack Level 3 is the same as the Level 1 and 2 versions, except you just have to press Triangle three times before you can execute it.

The flashlight guards have cannons, and they can be pretty loud. Also, if you walk into any of the sleeping guards, they will wake up and come after you. You can steal from the sleeping guards, though.

The Talk of Pirates

You'll need to play as Sly to start this mission.

When you reach the waypoint, you'll find out that Black Spot Pete is still alive, albeit an old man. When you approach him, Black Spot Pete will not trust you, for you are an outsider. He then mentions that he only spoke of treasure with his partner Cantankerous Tim. Since Tim was mutinied on by his crew to the point that both his treasure and his pirate outfit was split between them, we will have to find the three pieces of the outfit and disguise ourselves as Cantankerous Tim.

The first person you'll have to deal with is Stone Jake, who has the eyepatch. You'll need to find him, then smack the palm trees and keep smacking them to lure him towards a trap on the end of the beach. When Jake is under the anchor at the ramp leading up to the winch, activate the winch to drop the anchor on him. You'll get the eyepatch.

From here, use L3 to find the second lieutenant, who is surrounded by a pair of guards. Wait for them to get into position behind him, then take them out one by one with Silent Obliteration before sneaking up on the lieutenant and stealing from him to get the peg leg.

Use L3 to find Twitchy Ned, who will be in the crow's nest on a ship in the harbor. Unfortunately, when you approach, he will see you coming. You'll need to chase after him much like you chased after Neyla in the second game: hold R1 ant all times, avoid the traps and keep him in your sights at all times. You'll be chasing Ned for quite a distance, and you'll corner him in a corner of the beach, where you'll get the hat.

From here, you'll have the Pirate Disguise. Equip it and head back to Black Spot Pete, and use the disguise before you talk to him. From here, you'll take part in an insult competition between yourself and Black Spot Pete. Just go through the dialogue options and make your own insults. (It's not Monkey Island, but it gets the job done.) The only rule to follow is not to repeat any part of any insult that has already been said, but if you pay attention, you should have no trouble following that rule. After trading enough insults, you'll find out that Remy Lousteau's diving gear is in Dagger Isle, and that for years, Pete has kept the map to the treasure hidden. Unfortunately, he no longer has his ship, and the map was stolen by Captain LeFwee, one of the smartest pirates on the seven seas. He lives in the castle not far from here, and Pete will not be able to help you as his seafaring days are long gone.

From here, you'll get the slide show for Day One. Unfortunately, to get to Dagger Isle, you'll need to steal a pirate ship from the harbor. To do that, you'll have get on a jolly boat and blow the rudders off the other ships as well as take out the harbor patrol. Meanwhile, Bentley and Penelope will break into LeFwee's keep to steal the map. Once both tasks are done, they can steal a ship and use the map to get to Dagger Isle.
