PrinceWatercress plays Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves - Part 10 of 42

In this episode, we drive a big truck to capture some scorpions, then use The Guru's powers to destroy some drills and wreck a rock grinder at the refinery.

Big Truck

You'll have to be Murray to start this job. Here, you'll be driving a big truck, capturing some scorpions so you can scare away some miners.

Before you can do that, though, you'll need to scare the miners away from a nearby oil drilling platform and force the drill deeper into the ground. This is where Sly comes in. Smack the guards over the guardrail, then Sly will automatically play with the controls, driving the drill deeper and driving some giant scorpions to the surface.

From here, Murray will have to drive the big truck and used the super-charged emergency brake that causes the truck to flip forward when moving. If the ceiling of the truck lands on a scorpion, it will capture it in the mining nets built into the truck. You'll need to be careful, however, as the truck's tires will overheat to the point of melting very easily in the blazing sand, and you'll need to either get in the water near the drill or run over some scorpions to cool them down. Watch the tire gauge in the lower-left corner closely.

As for the scorpions, you'll need to capture the red soldier scorpions, as the blue worker scorpions won't be able to scare the miners off.

Hold X to drive forward, and Square to drive in reverse. Use the left analog stick or D-Pad to steer. Pressing the R1 button lets you flip the truck. As you drive around, you'll be able to find plenty of scorpions, especially the red ones. When you get a red scorpion in front of you, be ready to flip the truck.

Halfway through the job, the game will switch to Sly, and you'll have to climb up the tower on hooks spinning around on gears just to get to the controls on the top to drill even deeper when underground scorpion movement starts dying off. When you make it to the controls, you'll get more scorpions, but the water will drain out, and you'll have to use the scorpions exclusively to keep the tires on the big truck from melting. If you have to run into some red scorpions to keep the tires cool, do it. Scorpions will always be popping up.

Once you get twenty red scorpions, they will be deposited into the mines, scaring some workers off.

Unleash The Guru

You'll need to play as Bentley to start this job.

The Health Extractor, just like in the second game, allows you to capture enemies and turn them into health pick-ups at the cost of a little bit of your special energy. This is useful if you need to get bigger enemies out of your way, or if you really need the health. Press the assigned button to throw it. If any enemy walks into it, they get turned into a health pick-up.

To start this mission, you'll have to get Bentley to The Guru and get him to the job marker. Once you do, The Guru will meet with Bentley. The Guru mentions his transformation skills, which will allow him to draw in a guard.

Hold down L1 to transform. The Guru will transform into something in the nearby area, and this will alert the nearby guard. From here, you can jump towards the guard and press Circle (much like Sly Cooper's spire jump and spire landing), to take control of the guard, who will start running forwards on their own. Run the guard into the door and press the X button, and The Guru is free.

The Guru has lavender colored markers. Get him to the marker near the drills to start the next part of the job. Also, the ability to control guards and transform are the only things The Guru can do; he cannot fight or steal from enemies at all and you will be forced to rely entirely on stealth with him. Because of this, he only becomes playable in a few of the game's jobs.

From here, head towards the drills. Jump onto enemies with Circle from behind, then line them up with the drills and press X to send them running into the drills. You'll have to go out of your way to find enemies, as they will not show up near the drills when this part of the job begins, but at least it takes one enemy to destroy a drill.

Afterwards, you'll need to head to the refinery, which is marked with another lavender-colored marker. You'll need to jump three guards over to the generator controlling the rock grinder and send them into the generator to break them.

We're now done with Day One. Now that The Guru has agreed to join the team, given we can stop the miners and the Mask of Dark Earth. The Cooper Gang will have to get the local wildlife to provide some help by feeding the miners to the crocodiles in the waters of this area, and they'll also have to crash into the local lemonade bar and take it over to break the miners' morale. Also, the gang will have to take control of another rill to dig up some radioactive uranium-enriched oil and mess things up even more.
