PrinceWatercress plays Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves - Part 14 of 42


In this entry, we turn our opponents in the semi-finals against each other to make it easier to win...and oh, is it fun.

Frame Team Belgium

You'll need to play as Sly to start this one.

It's time to tail the armored supply truck that contains Team Iceland's lucky ice sculpture and steal that sculpture. Since Bentley gave the driver some bad direction, the truck will be going in circles more than long enough for Sly to steal the sculpture and plant something that will frame Team Belgium.

In the meantime, Murray will have to head to the hotel and get one of the members of Team Belgium to laugh, allowing Bentley to swoop in and steal a monogrammed handkerchief from their back pocket. As for the truck, The Guru can use his mind control technique to smash some guards into the truck to force the back doors open.

You'll then head into the hotel with Murray. The pilot you're looking for can be found with L3 and is in a brown flight suit. For the dialogue options, go through them until you get the physical humor option, then choose it. This will get the pilot laughing. You'll then take control of Bentley. Wait for the pilot to glow blue, then make the pull three times with the magnet. It's then on to the Guru segment.

As The Guru, keep track of where the truck is with L3, then take control of enemies and run them square into the back doors of the truck. If you hit the electric barriers on the side, it won't count. After the first hit, the truck will start dropping bear traps at regular intervals, and you'll have to time your movements to make sure you hit the door instead of hitting the truck's side barriers or a bear trap. After four hits, the top of the truck will open up instead. From here, you'll play as Sly, and you'll need to get onto the top of the truck to get in. From here, crack the safe like you've cracked all the others before, and you'll steal the sculpture and plant the handkerchief.

Frame Team Iceland

You'll need to play as Murray to start this one.

The Guttural Roar works just like it did in the second game: press the assigned button, and you'll be able to scare away enemies. 

For this plan, Bentley decided to put one of Team Iceland's Viking helmets to good use. In order to get into the hotel, Murray will have to man a raft and get Sly through a passage leading inside via the ventilation system.

To row the boat, use the left analog stick or D-Pad to steer, press X to move forward and press Square to move backwards. You'll have to deal with drainage pipes and currents that push you away from the wall, but the spiked balls will be the first real hazard and they will blow up if you run into them. By pressing X steadily enough, you'll be able to move forward constantly enough while moving just quickly enough to avoid things.

When you reach the dock, Sly will get off, and you'll have to take him to the ventilation system while Murray guards the boat. You'll have to get on the ring platforms that rock back and forth as well as see-saw like platforms that will tip back and forth due to your weight, with the occasional hook to swing on. It's a short trek to the ventilation system.

In the air vent, follow the path, and once you're in the room, do not tip over any playing cards, step on anyone sleeping or trip over any ropes. If you do, you'll be found out and the job will be a bust. At the end is the Viking helmet, grab it, then get back to the vent without running into anything.

From here, you'll have to do all the platforming in the sewer in reverse to get back to Murray. Unfortunately, the valve pipes have switched position, and you'll have to take another tunnel to get out, and this is where the rowing part gets harder, as this time, some of the mines move. Take your time to get past the mines, and watch out for the currents. You'll soon get out of the currents, but you're not done yet.

Back above ground, you'll play as Murray. Get to the hangar area and use L3 to find out where you need to go. Enter Team Belgium's hangar, then use Murray's ball form to get under the security lasers and press Square to attack the anchors holding the plane in the anchor in place with a charge attack. From here, the lasers will be gone. Jump on the plane to plant the Viking helmet. You're done.

Circle: use to interact with sparkles, steal from enemies (from behind; with Sly), grab objects and stunned enemies (with Murray; press Circle afterwards to grab enemy out of air and press again to shake them, or press Square to throw them)
Triangle:
  • charge up cane, knock enemies into the air (from behind; with Sly, use Square afterwards to slam enemy down)
  • drop bombs (Bentley)
  • uppercut (Murray; press Circle afterwards to grab enemy out of air and press again while holding enemy to shake them, or press Square afterwards to knock enemy out while in mid-air)

Select: access Gadget Grid
  • D-Pad/Left analog stick: select gadget/ability
  • L1, L2, and R2 buttons: assign gadget to button pressed; gadget can then be used with that button

Start: Pause/unpause
  • D-Pad/left analog stick: choose options
  • X: confirm choice
  • Triangle: back out of choice

L3: bring up waypoint

R3: use Binocucom
  • Left analog stick/D-Pad: look around
  • Right analog stick: move in and out
  • R1: take picture

R1: run (hold down)
  • use Paraglide (as Sly; hold down to use, must purchase first)

Right analog stick: move camera

As Carmelita:

  • Left analog stick/D-Pad: move
  • Right analog stick/D-Pad: move camera/aim
  • Triangle: toggle between strafe mode and free movement
  • Square: kick
  • Circle: mega jump
  • X: jump and double jump
  • R1: shoot

As The Guru:

  • L1 (hold): transform
  • Circle (in mid-air, behind an enemy): mind control
    • Left analog stick/D-Pad: steer enemy
    • X: jump off enemy and launch enemy forward
    • Square: attack
