It's time for Episode 3! We get a chance to add another member to the Cooper Vault team, but only if we can come out on top in an aerial dogfighting competition.
Episode 3: Flight of Fancy
As Bentley tries to find a way to get into the Cooper Vault, he comes to the realization that he needs an RC specialist with piloting skill far exceeding his own if the Cooper Gang has any hope of getting in. That person is a young mechanic named Penelope, but in order to get her on the team, the Cooper Gang has to prove they are the best, as she only works for the best. The best in Penelope's case is the Black Baron, a big-time airplane dogfighting champion who has set up an international competition known as "A.C.E.S." to attract the best opponents. If the Cooper Gang can beat the Black Baron in A.C.E.S., she will join the team.
As Bentley and Murray build a plane for Sly, Sly gets his pilot's license in the fastest way possible.
At the beginning, you'll have three new abilities. Sly gets a Level 2 push attack, while Murray's Guttural Roar returns and Bentley gets the Insanity Strike attack that Sly got in the second game.
Hidden Flight Roster
At the start, pick Sly. Instead of going out and about, Sly will put on his pilot's outfit and head to the hotel. In order to find out who they are facing, Sly will have to get his hands on the secret tournament roster to find out who they are facing first. To do that, Sly will have to find a member of event staff, and it just so happens that Dimitri has been hired to do color commentary during the dogfights and is working as a mole on the inside. From here, Sly will have to find Dimitri and refrain from starting fights with anyone in the tournament, or else the Cooper Gang will be kicked out of the competition.
Dimitri will be at the bar. Walk up to him and the conversation will start. When Dimitri asks why he should trust Sly, use a logical argument. Dimitri says that the Black Baron has eyes and ears and that he is not exactly willing to talk because of that. Play to Dimitri's ego and compliment him to make him feel good. Sly will get Dimitri to believe that if he can out-dress the Baron, he can outsmart him, and Dimitri agrees to give Sly info on his opponents if Sly does him a favor. Accept the favor. Dimitri will tell you the flight roster is in one of the tacky paintings in the Black Baron's hangar.
Afterwards, the Black Baron shows up to welcome all the competitors, as well as Team Muggshot, who are last year's runner-ups. Muggshot is back from the first game, and he has apparently gained newfound fame and glory as a dogfighter despite still being a wanted criminal. The Black Baron also says that due to teams performing late night hijinks on each other in previous years, teams can no longer leave the hotel after sunset, or else they will risk being beaten within an inch of their lives by his guards.
From here, leave the hotel. The problem is, you'll need to find another way out, and there is an opening near the lobby. Once you leave, you'll be out of your disguise. Once outside, there are some shortcuts in the form of ducts inside some of the buildings, and the cheese wheels act as trampolines. Buttons will lower the bridges, but only for a short amount of times. Also, watch out for searchlights from above. These are from the blimps that are flying around the level, and if you get caught in the spotlights of these blimps, the blimps will shoot at you and your cover will be blown.
The pig enemies carry gas cans and will spit fire at you if they see you, while the bunny enemies in the clogs attack with pitchforks.
There will be wolves around the castle, and much like the bears from the second game, they will do a lot of damage and will also tear nearby enemies part.
Your first destination is the castle. Once you get there, you'll need to swing, sneak and rail walk around the castle. At the windows, stand between the videos where you can't be seen, and only sneak away when the Black Baron is not looking towards you. When you reach the top, Sly will bring a catapult down to ground level for Bentley to enter the castle with. You'll be playing as Bentley now. Leap onto the catapult to get to the Black Baron's hangar.
Once you're in the hangar, you'll need to use the Hover Jump to land on the planes and avoid the laser floors and the spotlights. There are two safes, and if you pick the one on the left (the one with the ruins and the "223" code in the ground that you don't need to zoom in to see), you'll get an empty safe. As for the other one, the code "510" is in the mountain in the distance. Open it, and the flight roster is yours.
It's now Day One. You'll be flying against Team Iceland and Team Belgium in the finals, and it'll be Sly Cooper against two teams of fifteen pilots. In order to stand a chance, the Cooper Gang will have to pit both teams against each other. Sly and Murray will have to canoe in the sewers to break into Team Iceland's hotel room, steal a Viking helmet and plant it in Team Belgium's hangar after vandalizing one of their planes. From here, Bentley and Murray will steal one of Team Belgium's monogrammed handkerchiefs while The Guru breaks into the Team Iceland supply truck containing Team Iceland's lucky ice sculpture, allowing Sly to steal the sculpture and frame Team Belgium. As this goes on, Bentley will set defenses around the Cooper Gang hangar in case any team goes after them.
