HCBailly plays StarTropics II: Zoda's Revenge - Part 10 of 15

In this entry, we rescue Leonardo and find another Tetrad thanks to his help, but Zoda's got a nasty surprise waiting for us.

First | Previous | Next | End

At the beginning, watch out for the balls that are moving around in circles. Walk under the hammers after they go up. Jump over the spikes when the wooden platforms you have to cross. Remember that you still have to jump in the direction you want to go when jumping off the wooden platforms.

For the black marbles, hit them with the Super Psychic Wave so that they fall into the hole. They will only bounce off the walls either vertically or horizontally, so if you can line yourself up, getting the marbles into the hole is a snap. Remember that the marbles will change direction on how you hit them, so if you hit them from the west side, they will start moving horizontally. Also, they will move towards you if you hit them, so be careful.

You'll soon end up in the back room of Leonardo's studio. There are two items to pick up, the hammer and the chisel. Take them, and Mike will automatically free Leonardo. You'll see him with a bandage on his forehead as well as the Mona Lisa as he tells you that he was putting the finishing touches on his painting when Zoda hit him with liquid plaster. Mike will automatically deduce that Sherlock Holmes was right and that there is indeed a Zoda-Y. Leonardo will also tell you that Zoda-Y also asked him about an artifact he saw while in an old castle to the east. Mike will ask Leonardo for help getting there, and Leonardo does it in exchange for critique on the Mona Lisa (which is the easiest way to create a time paradox). You'll get an invention that will take you to the old castle the Katana from Marco Polo's journeys to the east, which replaces the dagger, and Leonardo will warn you not to let Zoda-Y breathe on you or else you will turn to stone.

Mike will soon fly on a wooden flying machine, and somehow, it is able to fly. Mike then gets a telepathic message from Micah, who tells you that aliens have come to C-Island, hypnotized Dr. J and found out about the Tetrads, and now they are going after the Tetrads and possibly setting up a trap for Mike. Micah asks Mike to be careful, then disconnects just before Mike lands.

It does not seem like there is anything on this island, but if you go clockwise around the island and walk into the wall, you'll find a Big Heart. Be sure to take it; this can be very easy to miss. From here, walk back into the flying machine.

You'll land on another island, and this time, you'll find the castle that Leonardo was talking about.

If you know where you're going, you'll be able to get through here quickly. Otherwise, you'll be dropping into pitfall after pitfall and it'll take a while to get out. Some of the pitfalls will give opportunities to refill some of your hearts and even get a few potions in case things get rough, thankfully. Some of the pitfalls are unavoidable, but if you get out of the pitfalls, you'll be back at the area you dropped down from.

Go all the way to the north at the beginning, and follow the path to the stairs. from here, go west at the fork in the road and stay near the wall as you go down the next set of stairs. You'll fall down into a pitfall, but you can easily get out and take the stairs going down.

From here, the next set of stairs is to the west, but you'll need to go through the expansive hall in a rather specific way in order to keep from falling into pitfalls. From the stairs you start from in this hallway, go north once, west three times, north once, then west until you're lined up with the stairs on the other end. From there, go south. Thankfully, the pitfalls never set you back if you fall into one and get out.

Follow the path, and after the pitfall - which has skulls that spin around in diagonal directions and spit a three-way bone shot - take the center path. At the footprints, go north at the very first one until you touch the wall, then walk east to the fourth face on the wall. Go south once, then east until you touch the statue. From there, you can easily get the Tetrad and the health increase that comes with it.

After getting the Tetrad, you'll meet Zoda-Y. He will admit that he should not have sent a henchman on an errand that requires his own touch, then he sends you to a land where a count stalks his victim by the light of the moon, where he does not expect you to escape.
