HCBailly plays Final Fantasy II AGAIN - Part 9 of 65

In this entry, we head to Semitt Falls in our search for the imprisoned members of the rebellion.

The Soldiers are almost impossible to kill with regular weaponry...for now. If you have Level 2 Fire, you'll be able to kill them in one hit. If you prolong the battle, though, you'll be able to get much-needed weapon experience.

Semitt Falls

Disregard the blue rock near the entrance for now.

The Balloons are weak to both Fire and Thunder. You want to finish them all off as soon as possible when you see them, as they'll blow up and damage one of your party members with Blast. Their self-destruct checks against physical defense for damage, but also checks against magic evasion for accuracy. If you leave them at maximum HP, they will try to hit you with it and fail, and it will count as experience towards your magic evasion.

Unlike the last game, chests are open after you open them.

There will be four doors to choose from shortly after you go down the stairs. Take the one on the far left, as the rest take you to a dead end where you're very likely to fight monsters before you can leave, as these rooms have extremely high encounter rates. Another beginner's trap.

There is a bug in the Famicom version of the game where being attacked by a magic spell counts towards Firion using a white magic spell and getting a Spirit gain instead of towards the party's individual magic evasions.

The Sprinters have very high evasion.

You'll soon see three doors. Enter the left one. You'll find the prisoners, as well as Paul! (So that's where he went when he disappeared from Altair.) Looks like he got caught looking for Mythril, and now he's helping the rebellion free all the slaves from Borghen's grasp, which include Nelly, Josef's daughter. Once you talk to him, all of the slaves (and Paul) will disappear. From there, you'll be able to go to the right and go down the stairs.
