HCBailly plays Final Fantasy II AGAIN - Part 6 of 65

In this entry, we head to Paloom and get our party set up for what we're about to do.

HCBailly buys Blizzard to teach it to Maria at the beginning of the video. Also, Maria has the Ether equipped on her to free up inventory space, although it will not be used until later.

The more you use the same spell in battle, the more you get only one experience from it. Using a variety of spells will make it easier to get experience for them.

Paloom

You could talk to the pirate near the entrance to take a ship to palm for a few Gil, but don't do that. Instead, walk around town and talk to everyone.

You could get the weapons here, but they're only slightly better that you have now and the enemies at this point are pretty weak, anyway. Thankfully, you'll find more powerful stuff than what's here pretty soon.

Get the Bronze Shield for anyone who requires a shield, and hand Minwu one of your Bucklers. If you haven't already, unequip everything from him except the Bronze Armor and the Cane weapon that he has. The Bronze Plate has relatively low evasion and magic penalties than other pieces of armor than the rest of the game, though.

Shell increases your Magic Defense and Evasion, Blink increases your Evasion level (and not your percentage) and Protect increases your physical defense without adding any additional armor weight; however, there is a glitch in the Famicom version in which it only works to increase physical defense if it is cast on the person who knows the spell itself. Cure is from the White magic shop in Altair, and we all know what that does.

On the way to Poft, use Minwu to take care of any healing; it will make it easier for Guy to build up his magic-related stats.

Vampire Thorns (VmpThorns) can inflict Poison and have 20 HP, but are as easy as the other enemies you've met so far.
