PrinceWatercress plays Bucky O'Hare - Part 2 of 4

In this entry, we rescue our friends and take care of the other two planets we didn't play last time.

Blue Planet

This is the one where Blinky will really shine, as his weapon goes through the ice blocks that make up the first few acts. If you know where to look, you can also find secret power-ups within the ice blocks. You can also find Toads in the ice blocks as well, so be careful. The water in the first few acts is instant death, and if that doesn't get you, the ice physics throughout the first few acts might.

The second act introduces the Battletoads-style ice worms that come out of the water. Their faces are instant death, but you can walk on their bodies. Learning how to get past them takes trial and error. In the third act, you'll have to wait on the second worm to finish moving, then quickly make your way to the exit. For the fourth act, you'll have to get moving right away to avoid the worm that will descend towards you at the beginning, get to the right a little bit, then wait on the last worm to go back into the water before making your way to the exit.

The fifth act is some platforming. Aside from the still-present ice physics, you'll also have to contend on Toads on platforms as well as Toads on jetpacks. The Toads on Jetpacks will burn the ice platforms from underneath with their flamethrowers, so get where you need to go quickly.

The sixth act is one large platform. You'll have to stay on the platform and survive in order to get to the end, and the fact that Toad aircraft are bombing the sides of the ice platform does not make this easier. Switch to Buckeye and use his regular shot, which is a three-way shot, to take out some enemies a little more instantly.

For the seventh act, wait for the Toads to throw down blocks to make a wall, then switch to Blinky and blow your way through them. With the two toads on the right, shoot down the ice blocks so that the top Toad can throw a spiked ball through the floor to make two holes you can drop down. This will be the first time, but it won't be the last for this section. Afterwards, you'll be able to continue on. Be careful not to touch the spikes on the undersides of the platforms here; they are instant death. There will also be spiked blue balls moving back and forth on the platforms; be sure to avoid them as you make your way further down.

For the eighth act, there will be big gray pipes moving up and down, and some of them could move you into trouble such as ceiling spikes. Be careful where you're going. Thankfully, this section is a bit easier than the others you've been in. You can also shoot the balls to get them out of your way as well as to find power-ups.

In the ninth act, watch for falling icicles. The Toads here can take the icicles off the ground and throw them at you, so be ready to jump over those icicles. Be sure to shoot around near the end.

The boss here is two-fold: you'll have the constantly rising water as well as some guy will shoot missiles at you constantly. You'll have to jump to avoid the missiles while constantly firing at the boss, and if that's not enough, the boss will freeze the rising water every so often. If you don't jump in time, you'll get frozen and take damage from an incoming missile. If you do get stuck, keep shooting until you get placed back on ground level; your shots will still hit the boss and they can make a difference. If the water gets too high, the ceiling spikes will kill you. The best place to stand is just to the left of the second waterfall in the background.

This boss can be rather brutal, especially if you're not the most accurate shooter in the world or you're not standing in the right spot, but this one is beatable. Just hang in there.

After conquering the Blue Planet, you'll get Jenny. By holding the B button, you can charge up a psychic shot that you can control with the Control Pad as it flies forward. The more power you have on the power meter, the bigger the ball can be and the more damage it can cause.

Yellow Planet

The worm at the beginning moves around in the air and circles around you, and it splinters into several parts that can do a little bit of damage once it is destroyed. Be sure to give yourself plenty of room to avoid everything. Deadeye is the best person for the job against these things.

Even if your life is at maximum, the Life Extensions can still fully refill your health, so take advantage of them when you can.

For the second act, you'll have Toads on jetpacks, turrets that come out of the crates, turrets on columns that will shoot in one of eight directions much like the turrets at the beginning of the Green Planet, and miniature planes that swoop back and forth while firing at you.

In the third act, you'll have all the enemies from the second act, but there will now be the Toad ships from the Green Planet showing up again. At least they don't fire at you this time. Once again, you can super jump on them to get power-ups.

Aside from the Toad ships you also have asteroids that you'll have to avoid in Act 4. After that, you'll have to constantly jump from one Toad ship to another in a purely vertical section. Some stay in once place, some are faster than others, and some will shoot at you. Once again, avoid the asteroids.

In the fifth act, you'll have to use the brown asteroids that are flying around as platforms to ride on while getting one from one brown planetoid to another. Thankfully, the brown planetoids are solid platforms. The trick to this section is to pay attention and get on the right asteroid at the right time to progress through the act. Also knowing where to stand is crucial to make leaping on asteroids when they spawn When necessary, use Blinky's jetpack (you'd better have it fully powered-up at this point), and use it to get one from one planetoid to another.

Act 6 has you riding on platforms on tracks, and they can go pretty fast. Thankfully, they slow down just long enough for you to make your way to the next one. Just listen for the sound of the brakes. Also, don't worry about the enemies; they won't get you at all. Just be ready to duck to avoid the instant death spikes. When the last platform finally slows down, be ready to jump for power-ups. Don't worry about being tricked here; the game will let you get them and won't pull a fast one by going super-fast before taking you to the boss.

The boss here is a Toad tank. There are three things to shoot at: the satellite dish on the roof and the two blue guns on the top and bottom of the tank. Take care of the satellite first, followed by the lower gun and then the upper gun. When the tank opens its mouth, duck into a hole in the floor and keep ducking to avoid the laser, then stay there to avoid getting run over. When the tank returns to the left, shoot upwards with Bucky to get some extra damage on the guns. Between lasers and run-downs (both of which are instant death if they connect), there are two sets of fireballs that travel in a sine-wave pattern that you can easily avoid if you just stand in the right spot, and there are also missiles that will slowy track you after they are fired. Thankfully, the missiles can be shot down; you just have to be able to hit them.

Once you take out the satellite dish and the guns, the only thing left to shoot is the eye of the tank. At this point, the tank will stop firing fireballs and missiles, and the mouth lasers and the charge attacks will be the only things you have to deal with. At this point, the tank is much easier.

Beating the Yellow Planet allows you to rescue Willy DuWitt, a human from a dimension parallel from the "Aniverse" who happens to be stuck here forever as a member of the Righteous Indignation crew after creating a portal from his dimension to this one. He has a new weapon, and if you charge it up, you can shoot more powerful blasts. The bigger his power meter is, the more powerful they will become.

After beating all four planets, you'll run right into the Toad mothership. Unfortunately, the tractor beam will suck you in. Everyone gets captured, and you'll have to rescue Jenny, Deadeye and Willy all over again.
