HCBailly plays Final Fantasy II AGAIN - Part 4 of 65

In this entry, we head to Fynn and meet the dying man, then we learn about the enemy's penchant for attacking certain characters in the party more than others.

Fynn

Do not talk to the men in purple, whatever you do. They are the Captains, and they can lay waste to you. Instead, make your way to the bar. You'll meet up with some random encounters on the way here, but it's nothing you haven't handled before.

Go to the bar and talk to the guy hiding behind the counter.

Say the "Wild Rose" phrase to him and he'll tell you there's a passage behind him that leads to the wounded soldier. You'll find three chests that contain Potions. You'll find out that the dying man is Scott, Prince Gordon's brother. He tells you to go to Prince Gordon and tell him he is strong and needs more faith in himself, and that Fynn was taken because Count Borgan betrayed them and is now a General for the Imperial Army. He mentions that he loves Princess Hilda, but not to tell her that so she won't be heartbroken. He gives you the engagement ring that was meant for Hilda, and then he dies.

The Ring lets you look at the World Map much like in the last game: press B and Select at the same time. You can also rotate the map slowly to move it around if you need to, but only in the cardinal directions.

From here, HCBailly heads back to Galtea to heal up, then heads back to Altair.

It should be mentioned that the game has a targeting bias for the enemies using single-targeting attacks, spells or abilities on Maria or Guy more often than Firion or your fourth character. Maria or Guy will be hit a third of the time, while Firion and the fourth character will get hit one-sixth of the time. If Maria is in the back row, however, they will go to another character, usually Guy, and Guy will receive the majority of the blows, while Firion and the fourth character will be attacked even less than usual. If you need to increase anybody's defense via a magic spell, you would have to cast it on Guy first.
