PrinceWatercress plays Tomba! - Part 4 of 22

Our journey not only takes us to the Mushroom Forest and the Seaside Mountain, but to other places we've been to in an attempt to get things we couldn't get before.

I start the video by going back to the Ol' Pond. On the way there, I go back to the branches and swing back to the 100 Year Old chest that I saw earlier. Opening it up reveals a Vitality Max +1, which increases your maximum health by one point. There are twelve of these in the game, and they definitely help make the game easier. Right now, you can only have up to eight hit points, but if you find one even with eight hit points, pick it up anyway. You'll refill your health whenever you pick one up, and the health increases past eight will take effect once you get a specific item later in the game.

I also go back to the AP Box at the Ol' Pond and press Up in front of it to open it now that I have over 100,000 AP. This gives me a piece of Cheese. (This box can also be opened to complete the "The AP Box" objective, assuming you didn't use the ring near the 100 Year Old Man's house.)

At Wobbly Wharf, you can now go to the right to enter Charity Square. Upon entering, you get two Charity Wings, and you'll also get the "The Broken Fountain" objective. You won't be clearing this one until later. At the far left is the entrance to the Leaf Slider, but the dwarf guarding it won't let you pass and tells you that crying will not get you anywhere. This gives Tomba an idea, and this opens up the "Leaf Slider" objective.

By talking to the dwarves here, you'll find out that the Underground Prison is a thing, and that there is a mushroom in the Mushroom Forest that makes whoever eats it laugh or cry. Learning the latter opens up the "The Mysterious Mushroom" objective. Another dwarf tells you that if you shake powder on a red flower and turn it blue, then mix red and blue together, something will happen. This opens up the "Red + Blue = ?" objective.

Further to the right is a vine you can climb up. It leads to a wooden cage containing one Leaf Butterfly and a dwarf. By talking to the dwarf, you'll find out that he is collecting Leaf Butterflies, and that if you can get enough in the cage, something good will happen. For now, we can use the Leaf Butterflies we have as an item inside this cage and release all 25. We'll still need four more, but they are in an area we haven't been to yet.

Also behind the cage is Yan. Talk to him, and he'll be surprised that you found him before heading off to hide somewhere else.

Going right of Charity Square takes you back to the Watch Tower area. By going to the right of the gold chest near the Watch Tower, there is a rope leading downwards. Going down the rope and going right will take you to the Mushroom Forest. The 100 Year Old Chest on the way down contains two 1-Ups.

To the right is a dwarf guarding the entrance to Stormy Mountain. He will tell you that he is trying to be an actor, but that he does not know how to express emotions. This triggers the "The World's Greatest Smile!" objective.

From here, head to the left. The flowers will open up and hop towards you, and it is only while they are open that you can jump on them, then jump again to throw them. The Mushroom Forest is full of platforms, flower enemies, chests, pick-ups and bottomless pits, so you'll need to be careful, especially at this point in the game.

If you climb up the rock wall near the start of the forest area, you'll find a 100 Year Old Chest containing a Charity Wing as well as two flying jellyfish-like creatures known as Bonsugee. Turns out, you can fight the Bonsugee and defeat them. To do that, jump into the side of one of them. This will blind it temporarily. From there, you can do one of two things with the other: jump on top of it and throw it into the blinded Bonsugee, or blind the second Bonsugee and then throw it into its blinded mate. If they get knocked to their side and fall down, you've done it correctly. If a Bonsugee is not blinded when you grab the other one from the top, it will quickly fly away and not return until you let go. I don't attempt this yet, because I need some HP to do this with, so I run to the left and enter the cave all the way on the other side of the forest after jumping on three of those weird stones along the way. Along the way, I find a 100 Year Old Chest with a gem that gives me 20,000 AP, which will allow me to open the AP Box that I passed by moments earlier.

This leads to an island where we can meet the fisherman we met at the Ol' Pond. He will give you a ride to the Seaside Mansion if you want to, but he can only take you one way because he is busy. If you do this, you'll head to the mansion. By approaching it, you'll get the "A Familiar Looking Mansion" objective. Enter the doorway, then go up the stairway. You'll find four chests, and we can only open the 100 Year Old Chest for the moment for a gem that gives 20,000 AP. This completes the "Treasures From The Mansion?" objective. Going left takes us back to the Village of All Beginnings, and we'll have to go back to the Mushroom Forest to get back to the mansion again. This will also complete the "A Familiar Looking Mansion" objective.

Back at the Mushroom Forest, I defeat the Bonsugee by throwing them into one another three times, clearing the "Monster Hunt" objective. This one you don't get until a little later in the game. When you defeat them, they will leave an item behind. Pick it up. This is the Rise and Shine Powder, and you'll need it later. I also go back to the AP Box in the forest. Opening this gives you the Ordinary Mushroom, and completes the "A Safe Mushroom?" objective.

Now it's time to help the guard out. I go up to a platform and grab a purple and white striped mushroom by jumping on it and jumping again to throw. The purple mushrooms will usually make you laugh when you press the Circle button. It also makes the flowers laugh, and it's actually pretty unsettling and creepy. From here, we need to safely get back to the guard and press Square in front of him to laugh. The guard will learn how to emulate a smile and you'll complete the "The World's Greatest Smile!" objective.

From here, use the Ordinary Mushroom. By using it as an item, you'll cure yourself of your laughter so you can use your weapon again with the Circle Button.

From here, you'll now have to help the guard again. Talk to him, and he will tell you that he needs to express crying. This triggers the "The World's Greatest Pout?" objective. From here, you'll need to find either an orange-and-white striped mushroom, or a purple mushroom with a yellow band on it. Both of them make you cry with the Circle button when you jump on either one and then jump a second time. Much like with the laughing mushrooms, the crying mushrooms also make the flowers cry. You also want to be careful while running, as Tomba can have a crying fit and will amble forwards, and when he does this, you will be unable to control him for a second. Get back to the guard and press Square to cry in front of him to complete the "The World's Greatest Pout?" objective. The dwarf then leaves, telling you that the Dwarf Elder headed towards the mountain and that he wanted to see you about something. You can now head to the Stormy Mountain. Just remember to use the Ordinary Mushroom first so you can stop crying.

At Stormy Mountain, you'll get the "A Stormy Pig Bag" objective and meet the Dwarf Elder. The Dwarf Elder will tell you that an evil spirit has taken over the mountain and has put it under an evil spell that you'll have to beat an Evil Pig to break. It also means that you'll have to look for an Evil Pig Bag in those places as well. You'll then complete the "To Phoenix Mountain..." objective.
