In this entry, we meet the 100 Year Old Man, then we head to the Dwarf Forest for the first time.
Beyond the rope ladder are some rock walls you can climb. You'll find an AP ring that requires 50,000 AP to get stuff out of. At the top, you'll find the hut that the man in the straw hat was talking about, another wooden chest, and a wooden sign that acts as a save point.
By entering the hut, you will meet the 100-Year-Old Man. You'll automatically talk to him and complete the "The 100-Year-Old Wise Man" objective you got at the beginning of the game. The old man will then tell you to do him a favor and tell you about the red Kokka birds that are stealing eggs and raising them as their own, and asks you to rescue all the chicks inside the eggs. This triggers the "Inside the Kokka Eggs" objective. If you've been breaking all the eggs you've seen on the way here, however, you'll have all four Chicks and you'll complete this objective as soon as you get it...then spit them all out of Tomba's mouth.
For saving the chicks, you'll find out what the Koma Pigs are up to. In a cutscene, you'll find out that the Seven Evil Pigs are changing the land for the worse and that the Koma Pigs are collecting gold, hence why they took Tomba's bracelet. The Evil Pigs are scattered throughout the lands, and by defeating them, Tomba should be able to get his bracelet back.
The old man tells Tomba to make some friends, then notices that he has lost his 100-Year-Old Bell and asks Tomba to find it. In exchange, he gives Tomba the 100-Year-Old key, which opens the wooden chests that we've seen. He also mentions that you'll need Evil Pig Bags to find the Evil Pigs' hiding places, and that you'll have to ask the Dwarf Elder in the forest above the hut about the bags to learn more about them. This triggers the "Dwarf Elder" objective. From here, you'll get a rope to drop down, and you can climb up it to go to a new area.
If you leave the hut the same way you came in, you'll be able to start opening chests right away. The wooden chest near the hut has Charity Wings, which can be used to teleport from one area to another without having to travel all the way to it. They can only be used once, however, so save them for later in the game. The wooden chest before the fog contains the 100-Year-Old Bell, which takes you back to the 100-Year-Old Man's hut when used as an item.
The rope in the 100-Year-Old Man's hut will take you to a rope bridge that leads to the Forest of 100 Flowers.
Before we do that, however, we can go down and press Up at the AP ring, which requires 50,000 AP. This gives us two fruits and clears the "The AP Box" objective. Also, if you go back to where the top of the rope ladder is, you'll meet the guy who was hiding in the house earlier and finally see what he looks like for the first time. This is Yan, and he is a ninja who lives in the Hidden Village who plays hide-and-seek. This completes the "Who Are You?" objective and reveals the "Hide and Go Seek" objective. From here, you'll have to find Yan again.
The 100-Year-Old Bell is in a 100-Year-Old Chest at the top of the tree next to the house leading to the Motocross Course. With this item, you can return to the 100 Year Old Man's house by using the bell in the inventory. Use this if you need to talk to the 100 Year Old Man and heal up.
From here, we head up the rope ladder to the Forest of 100 Flowers, which I will also be calling the Dwarf Forest. There will be a dwarf waiting for you, and if you approach him, he will back away, shake his head, speak what sounds like gibberish and run off. This activates the "Beginner's Dwarf Language" objective. Whenever you see the dwarf, jump on him to learn some of the Dwarf language. You'll want to reach Level 3 before you make it all the way to the Dwarf Village on the other end of this area. At the town, go to the right and jump on the dwarf who is running around to fully learn the Dwarf language, finish this objective and finally be able to talk to everyone one in the Dwarf Village
As you explore the Forest of 100 Flowers, you will reveal butterflies. If you jump onto one, you'll trigger the "Leaf Butterflies" objective. Throw the Leaf Butterfly to collect it. There are 25 Leaf Butterflies in the Forest, and collecting them all as soon as possible is recommended. The best way to get them here is to stay at the beginning of the area and slide up and down on the slopes to kick the leaves up, which can reveal Leaf Butterflies that you can jump on to collect. By doing it this way, you can get all 25 without having to deal with any hazards.
There is a hut here, but you can only walk over the roof to the other side, so you can't go into it quite yet.
The tops of the green stalks coming out of the ground are sharp, so don't land on the top of those things or you're going to get hurt. Thankfully, you can use the Control Pad to swoosh around them when necessary.
Once you're in the Dwarf Village, you'll be in an overhead view. You can use the Control Pad to move around and Square to talk to people, and if you have the Animal Dash, you can run by holding Square and moving around.
After learning the Dwarf language at the hut to the east of the Dwarf Village, talk to the guy near the ladder. He will tell you that the Dwarf Elder currently has a problem: the Forest of 100 Flowers was cast under a spell by the Evil Pigs, and the flowers have wilted away and the trees have mutated. Ever worse, several dwarves have not returned from a recent hunting party, and the villagers suspect that these missing dwarves might have been trapped by giant spores and cannot move. The doors to the hut in the forest have been opened, but the deep forest is being guarded, and the guards won't let anyone pass until the missing dwarves have been found. This leads to the "Save the Dwarves" objective being unlocked.
By talking to everyone, everyone will tell you that there are several dwarves are missing, and that you can learn more about at it the Elder's House (which we've already done). One dwarf will tell you his friend was caught by a spore on a tree and is just hanging there, which is a clue as to where to look for at least one of them. He tells you to check out the spores that stretch when you hang from them.
A guy in green near the entrance will ask you if you have seen a child who went to the Watch Tower to look for flower seeds and has gone missing, and asks you to bring the child back. This triggers the "A Lost Child" objective.
You'll also find out that the doors to the hut in the forest have been opened, and that the path to the Watch Tower has also been opened.
The woman in pink will tell you that she lost something in the forest and that she is looking for it, but can't get it back because of the Koma Pigs outside of the village. She does not give you much in the way of hints as to what it is, however.
Also, the top center hut in the village where the town doctor is contains a blue chest, but you won't be able to open it up until later in the game.
