PrinceWatercress plays Tomba! - Part 5 of 22

In this episode, we explore the Phoenix/Stormy Mountain for the first time and crash land in Baccus Village.

By grabbing a Crying Mushroom, making Tomba cry and heading back to the Leaf Slider entrance at Charity Square, you can go back to the guard and press Circle to cry in front of him. The guard will not have expected you to take him literally and he will let you into the Leaf Slider. This completes the "Leaf Slider" objective. To the left to the Leaf Slider entrance is the third and last Crystal Ball. This completes the "Lost and Found" objective. Now you can enter the Leaf Slider and get the Blue Powder on the way down before ending back up in the Mushroom Forest.

From here, it's on to Phoenix Mountain. When you head right, save your game before continuing. You'll run into two tiny men in cowboy hats, and you'll find out that the Phoenix will be able to take you to the distant jungle, even though it has been a long time since the Phoenix has flown. This triggers the "The Master of the Skies" objective. You'll need to be careful as you head to the right, as the powerful winds will constantly blow you to the right and make getting around difficult while allowing for big jumps.

The big brown flowers will swallow you and spit you out, wasting your time. The small biting flower plants are much like spikes, but at least they are not insta-death if you touch them.

Along the way, you'll run into Charles. By jumping up to him, you'll be able to get him down. Unfortunately, he has ripped his pants getting caught on the environment of the mountain, and he has lost his spare pair of pants, which you'll need to find for him. This triggers the "Charles' Pants" objective.

From here, you'll be able to head to the second section of the mountain. Below the entrance to the next section is a 100 Year Old Chest containing a Lunch Box, which refills some health as opposed to all of it. The second section of the mountain is a lot harder, as there are plants to dodge and the spiked enemies cannot be hurt unless you hit them enough times with the Wood Boomerang, and you'll have some nasty platforming that you'll have to do to reach the end.

On the way up, you'll find a guy digging through a wall. He will tell you to come back later. This triggers the "The Famous Digger" objective, and you'll need to come back here later to complete it.

At the top of the second sections, there are two doors: one with a smile on it and one with a danger sign next to it. If you press Up and the smile door, you'll get the "Smile!" objective. If you press Up at the other door, you'll get the "When The Wind Dies Down..." objective. You'll have to come back here later to complete both of these. To the right of these two doors are the Healing Herbs, which you'll want to get and bring back to the Dwarf Village.

By beating up the lizards in the spike shells, you can increase your blue experience meter.

Now for the worst part: the three tiny platforms. You'll have to make a series of quick jumps and you'll have to carefully get Tomba on all three of them, and to make matters worse, a lizard in a spiked shell flies from the left side of the screen if you do this. If you get hit by this, you're going down the bottomless pit. If you can reach the other side, however, you'll be able to reach the other side and meet the Phoenix. By talking to the guy near the Phoenix, you'll find out that the Phoenix is quite weak and may not be able to help you reach the jungle if you take a ride right now due to the Phoenix being weak. If you do this, you'll get dumped in Baccus Village and get the "The Mouse Pig Bag" objective.

Despite not being able to leave when you talk to the guy on the left at the village entrance, he moves out of your way anyway. Going south from here takes you back to the Phoenix Mountain and through the doors to the left of the mountain's starting area so I can land on that accordion-like rock.

From here, I head back to the village. By talking to the guy blocking the bridge to the west, you'll find out that the road to the lake is dangerous and that you should not go there unless you need to. From here, you'll unlock the "Road to Baccus Lake" objective.

North of the bridge is a bar. By talking to the guys behind the counter, you'll find out that they know about your victory against the Bonsugee from the Mushroom Forest (assuming you've beaten them already; if not, they tell you to beat them up). They then mention a fruit in the forest known as the Fruit of Death, and that the Weed Killer they have will kill them. You may have seen some translucent fruit-like things in the Mushroom Forest platforming area before; these are the Fruit of Death. They will give you the Weed Killer to help get rid of the five Fruits of Death, triggering the "Death Fruit Juice" objective.

By talking to these people, you'll find out that these people are not supposed to look like what they are and that the Red Fortune Teller is out for the moment.

By entering the building on the east side, you'll find out the people here are mice due to a curse by the Evil Pigs and wear hats so as not to scare others. The man waiting here will tell you to help him find some Cheese and to come back with some. This triggers the "Some Cheese Please" objective.

By going to the area in the center of the village, we can enter the town square. By reading the message board in the upper-left corner, you'll find out that a real baby mouse is missing and must be found immediately. This triggers the "Where's The Baby Mouse?" objective. From here, you can't leave the village until you take care of stuff, and not even the 100 Year Old Bell will get you out. From here, you'll need to go to the bar near the bridge and talk to the mouse in the center of the three new people that weren't there before. This is the real baby mouse. Go back to the town square and talk to the person in the building to complete the "Where's The Baby Mouse?" objective. You'll be asked to check the bulletin board again. This time, you'll find out the village pump at the lake is broken and that an experienced adventurer is needed to fix it. This triggers the "A Drink For Grownups" objective.

By talking to the guy blocking the lake now, you can go to the Haunted Mansion and trigger the "The Haunted Pig Bag" objective. I don't go to the lake until the next episode, however.
