PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 18 of 22

We finally face Queen Desire on her own turf. Of course, we have to find her first, and we'll have to explore the whole castle in order to do it.

Distaria Castle

The blue lizardmen are stronger than the ones you've met before, and you'll also start seeing them in bigger numbers. Also, you'll finally meet the gold skeletons in a more colorful setting (pun intended).

The Holy Armor is a step up from the Golden Armor, so make sure you equip it.

The Distaria Key will let you enter the door to the east of the entrance.

When you talk to people as you go through the castle, you'll learn that the people of Distaria have begun to rebel, which has made Queen Desire so angry that she changed all the humans in the castle into monsters, save for the ones that are still human that you can talk to. One of them is Kris from Distaria Coliseum, who is relieved to see you again. She tries to dissuade you out of going further into the castle, then says she will await your return. In case you're hurt, she'll also be able to heal you just like she did in the coliseum.

One of the humans will not open a door until you get permission from the Elder, and even then recommends against due to all the monsters behind it. As you travel further, you'll find out that the humans who weren't turned into monster did not fully believe in Gryuud and did not delight in harming others. You'll also learn that people everywhere are revolting against Queen Desire, meaning that this is nearly coming to an end.

The Radiant Shield is the best shield in the game.

When you go as far up as you can go, you'll meet the Elder. He will tell you that none have fought against Desire and live, and that sealing the door below was the only way to save the remaining survivors. Nevertheless, he takes a chance on you and allows you permission to enter the sealed door, which will be open when you return to it.

There is now a green version of the barbarian/swordsman.

You can go to the Laiard Coliseum past the sealed door - though you cannot do anything in it - and get the Anger Lance. Sadly, you now have more powerful weapons that outperform it, but it's still a fun weapon. You'll also find the Hermit Cane, another weapon you could have rented in that part of the game.

The brown golems are a palette swap of the green ones you meet at the Shrine of the Sword. They charge at you like quite a few humanoid enemies do, but they're easy to deal with. The fireball enemies from the also make a return here.

You'll meet a mini-boss here: a horned one-eyed flying demon that flies around in circular motions while alternating speeds, shoots a five-way shot and also shoots out balls of lightning that bounce around the room. If you need to, use Time Stop and keep attacking with the Wide Bow. The first time you will see it is in a dead end that you don't even need to go to; the second time around, you'll have no choice. Be sure to save before fighting them; these enemies do not play around and they can tear you to shreds.

The Side Bow is more powerful than the Wide Bow, and it also has a triple shot.

The green flying demons with the two swords are brand new enemies. They can hit you at close range, but they can also shoot projectiles at you and they are pretty powerful regardless of how they hit you.

The Giant Axe is the most powerful ax/lance weapon in the game, and it has a bit of range to it.

The Treasure Key will be needed later on, so be sure you get it.
