PrinceWatercress plays Lagoon - Part 3 of 12

Accidentally delayed vocals dead ahead. At least you can tell to some extent what's being talked about.

Elf Field and Voloh

By talking to the old man near the entrance, you will find out that Philips Castle is at the east side of the village. Every 1000 years, the castle "goes to sleep" when hit by sunlight, and the three tablets with the spell to break the sleep are scattered around the village. It is imperative that the tablets are found, because there are people who are trapped inside the castle and cannot move due to the influence of the spell. One tablet it hidden on the plain, and another is in the castle. A man in blue has the last tablet.

By talking to the rest of the villagers, you'll find out that Philips Castle used to be beautiful, but since Princess Felicia disappeared from the castle, it has been controlled by demons. Before that, a spooky-looking woman was wandering around the castle, and that there may be a connection between her and the princess' disappearance. You'll also learn a man named Zerah came to the village, and that he is a black magic user. You'll learn that people are at Philips Castle because of the muddy water.

The armor shop is useless and has nothing that you can buy at all. The weapon shop, however, has Healing Pots as well as Elixirs, which heal all your HP no matter how much you have. The Shiny Ball allows you to restore HP and MP faster while on the battlefield just like you would in a town, but with this thing being worth 10000 gold, you probably won't be buying this thing at all.

The Mayor's House is all the way to the north. The Mayor will ask you to save the people trapped in Philips Castle, and gives you the Movable Mantle to allow the people trapped there to move again. You'll also get the Earth Staff, which allows you to cast magic when combined with the Fire Crystal. There are some places where you cannot use magic. Those places are boss battles, just so you know.

To equip magic, go to the Magic menu in the pause menu. You can then equip a staff and a crystal just like you did your weapons and armor.

The man in blue is Thor. If you talk to him, he will tell you that he has one of the tablets and wants to help you look for one of them. You'll get the Tablet of Faith, and from here, head out of the village and back into the Elf Field. This time around, Thor will slowly walk to a pre-determined area. Follow him, and take out enemies with your newly gained fireball from the Earth Staff and the Fire Crystal. Talk to Thor there, and you'll get the Tablet of Wish. You'll then look for the other tablet. Once again, follow Thor and head to the entrance to Philips Castle to the northeast.

Philips Castle

We won't be going very far here. Be sure to jump over the gaps in the bridge, and save before you make the jump. If you fall in the gap, it's instant death. From the bridge with the gap, go west and jump another gap to get the Tablet of Hope. Be careful with your jumps. Head back to Thor, who will be waiting for you, and talk to him again. You'll finally be able to head back north to the village of Voloh.

When you return, the old man at the entrance will thank you for finding the tablets. You'll get the spell (which thankfully you won't have to remember), then Thor will leave and you'll be able to get into Philips Castle.

Save your game, then head back to Philips Castle. This time around, you'll be able to enter the castle.

The knights will charge at you if they see you, and you will have to fight them with your sword as your magic will not work on them. You can do a bit of damage to them if you're powerful enough. The bigger guys with the gold armor and the capes can, however, take damage from both your sword and your magic. That's a good thing, because these guys are pretty fast.

The Key of Prison will be necessary as you go further downstairs in the castle, so you don't want to leave the entry floor without it. Ditto with the Gold Armor, which will not only increase your defense, but also change your appearance. I love the blue cape; it's a change of pace.
