Our business in Siegfried Castle leads to us finding the Mint, which will cure the town of Poper.
Siegfried Castle
There are two doors far to the north on the first floor, but you will need a key to open both of them.
In the basement, you will fight humanoid rats in suits of armor. You'll also fight yellow guys with multiple arms carrying swords, and they are fast.
The power ring will increase your strength by 30 points when worn, but once again, it uses MP as long as you wear it. It is very useful against bosses.
The Thunder Armor found in the basement has more defense than the Sonic Armor from Denegul. You'll also find the Maxim Shield, which is even more powerful than the shield you bought in Denegul.
Also on the basement, you'll find the Mint. Once you find it, head back to Poper.
Poper
At Poper, equip the Mint and head to the church. Talk to the Cleric with the Mint equipped, and you will not only cure the town, you'll be able to walk through the window to the right and get something special. Follow the path and talk to each spirit you see along the way to learn more about the legend of the Champions of Light and Darkness. The second-to-last person will give you the Star Staff, and the last will tell you that Siegfried Castle is controlled by a monster named Duma, who locked the entrance to the second floor to block a warp point on the third floor that goes upstream and keep the people of Lakeland from Lagoon Castle. This person will give you Duma's Key, which will unlock the second floor, and ask you to defeat Duma.
If you talk to the people, they will thank you for curing the town. There is nothing more to do here, so head back to Siegfried Castle.
Back To Siegfried Castle
To beat Duma, equip the Power Ring and stand in front of Duma's face. Make sure the hands don't line up with you and hit you, and keep whacking at the face. The trick is to get close to Duma without getting hit yourself and to jump towards the face to ensure you hit Duma. Beating Duma rewards you with the Water Crystal and the Key of Siegfried.
With the Key of Siegfried, you can now enter the doors to the far north on the first floor. On the third floor, go south and follow the path, and avoid all the doors. You'll face zombies with one eye that shoot powerful lasers at you, and if you venture off the path, you'll fight red armored soldiers that will move around in square patterns in and go after you.
You'll eventually meet Thor...and Battler, who tries to turn Thor and manipulate him into doing his bidding. An earthquake is then felt, and Zerah makes Lagoon Castle rise up into the air. We will now have to find another way into Lagoon Castle. Thor and Battler will then disappear. Walk into the teleport crest, and you'll head to the Gnome Tree.
