PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 22 of 22

Enjoy your ending.

If you choose not to return to the castle, the main character and Iria never go back to Danaal Castle, and instead live in Muuk's cabin for the rest of their days. The Shining Sword is returned to its shrine. Despite not becoming king, the main character is still known for the rest of history as "King Colossus."

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 21 of 22

Here it is: the final battle of King Colossus!

For the second set of platforms, there will be four platforms side-by-side that re-appear and disappear one after the other. Time it so that you land on the first one as soon as it comes up, run to the right and jump the gap before you fall down.

Near the end, you'll have to face the flying one-eyed miniboss one last time, but this time, there will be five gold skeletons littering the floor. Take care of the miniboss first, then get rid of the skeletal stragglers to open the door and get out. The next room with the nine gold skeletons in the room is the last possible room you can save in; you won't be able to save at any point after this.

To the south of the room is the balcony elevator. Interact with the statue, and when a voice comes out of the statue that states that King Carleem is a magnificent ruler, say "Yes" when it asks if you agree; otherwise, you're falling down a floor.

At the top floor, you'll finally find King Careem. He will run away, and the monster statues will come to life and attack you. Unfortunately, these statues are very weak and will go down very easily while giving very little experience, and catching up to King Careem is easy.

When you catch up with Careem, he will plead for you to spare his life and will give you anything you desire in exchange. Unfortunately, the main character isn't buying it, and you'll have to keep approaching him until he reaches the statue of Gryuud. He summons Gryuud, then Gryuud grants his wish of creating a new world ruled by death and destruction before squashing him. You'll now have to fight Gryuud in another dimension that spans endlessly..

For the first part, watch for the shadows of the hands and shoot them down. When you hear rumbling and exploding sounds, stay on the move so the arms' lasers don't hit you and you don't get squashed.

You'll then fight Gryuud's head. Move up or down to avoid the claws, then get to the side of the head and shoot at it to avoid the lasers. After five lasers, the attack pattern repeats itself.

After beating this second form, you'll be back at the entry level of the castle. Everyone will want you to become their king after having beaten Gryuud, and when you head back outside, you'll be congratulated only to find out that Gryuud isn't quite dead yet. He sucks you back into another dimension before telling you he lied dormant until you let your guard down.

Equip the Shining Sword and the Time Stop spell. Cast Time Stop, then get in front of Gryuud and keep hacking away at his chest. When the screen starts flashing again, cast Time Stop again and keep hacking away. After two Time Stops and endless hacking, you'll fight his head. Get the head near you and cast Time Stop, then move towards it and hack away with the Shining Sword. When the spell wears off, use the Triple Bow to finish him off while avoiding the fireballs. Coming here with a Medical Herb is well-advised. It won't be long until you beat Gryuud for good.

When you beat Gryuud for good, he tries to take the main character with him. Before that can happen, magic surrounds the main character before King Orphus tells you that those in the Abyss can rest and that your destiny is now complete. You'll also hear from your mother, who will tell you that you can now live for yourself.

You'll be back outside behind Danaal Castle, and Iria will show up and tell you that she has been looking for you and that you suddenly vanished into the sky. She also tells you that a female voice told her to take care of you. From here, you'll have a choice of returning to the castle or not.

If you choose to return to the castle, the main character will return to the castle, take Iria as his wife and they become the King and Queen of Danaal. From there, the main character uses his powers to rebuild the other countries and usher in a new, long era of peace. From this day forward, you are known as "King Colossus," and you have etched your name in history.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 20 of 22

It's time to face our destiny and head to Danaal Castle for the final battle. This is it. There's no turning back.

Danaal Castle

If you want, you can go back to any area on the map except for Kazard Castle and the Abyss in Lufelia Castle, in case you missed anything.

When you reach the castle, you can talk to everyone outside, including Muuk, who we haven't seen since we hauled off to Laiard Coliseum. Yeah, you'd better call me Prince Watercress, old man. Flora will tell you to forgive Muuk, as he had your best interests in mind and you became strong and brave as a result. Flora will also be able to heal your HP and MP if you come back to the outside of the castle with the Exodus spell.

One of the people will tell you that Carleem is at the top floor of the castle, and that once he is defeated, Desire's days are numbered.

As you enter the castle, Iria will still accompany you. One guy will tell you about levers on the third floor that will activate some platforms. Without these levers, you won't be able to reach the higher floors. You'll also run into some former Gryuud followers, but they all say the same thing and don't do anything important. You'll also meet one of the men you saved in Kazard Castle, who is glad that you are still alive, and you'll also run into Ganku on the way to the second floor. Ganku has joined the rebellion to avenge his comrades who died in the coliseum. Ganant and Fahm from the very beginning of the game will also be nearby on the path to the second floor.

When you reach the second floor, some people will lie on the floor wounded. Iria will stay while she tends to them all, and from here, you're on your own.

At Level 27, you'll be able to destroy the archers and the barbarians in one hit.

Remember the one-eyed flying mini-bosses from Distaria Castle? Well, they appear again here, but now that you have the Side Bow, they're even easier to deal with.

The red demons with two swords attack much like the lizard men.

Shortly into your trek to the top, you'll find the first of a few moving platform areas. In this one, go south and hit the lever before continuing as normal.

The crab enemy from Distaria Coliseum is now a normal enemy...and a pushover.

After the first set of moving platforms, you'll meet Zakkar for the first time since the Shrine of the Sword. He will tell you that the castle has a lot of treasure, and he is taking advantage of the situation to steal as much treasure as he can. He also mentions that he has no interest in the war against Queen Desire, then tells you that you must use the balcony elevator to reach the top floor.

South of Zakkar is a red lever. Push it to the left, then you can continue on.

You'll find the Triple Bow in a gray chest, and it is more powerful than the Wide Bow. The three arrows will be much closer to each other with this weapon, Once you find it, leap into the pit surrounding the platform it is on and you'll fight the self-duplicating enemy from Distaria Coliseum. You still have to kill the real one, but even the clones give experience. From there, you can enter another room where you will have to jump off the edge of platforms that disappear and re-appear to get the Peacock Rod, which is the most powerful staff in the game.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 19 of 22

In this entry, we finally come face-to-face with Queen Desire...but we're not done yet...

Near the end, you'll be able to enter Princess Lina's room. Do it: you'll be able to get a Medical Herb as well as Desire's Key. You'll want to get this key, too; it will let you pass through Queen Desire's throne when you touch it and continue on.

At the end, you'll enter Queen Desire's lair. She is not happy that you've made it this far, and is more than ready to crush the uprising that you're leading. Before she fights you, she presents Iria, who we haven't seen since Laiard Coliseum. Iria suddenly attacks you with a poison-coated chakram, and it becomes clear that Iria has been manipulated by Queen Desire. Before Iria can finish you, Princess Lina shows up and gets in-between you and Iria, and the finishing blow kills her instead. Lina heals you before you die, and snaps Iria out of the trance that Desire put her in. Iria has no recollection of what she has done, and Lina tells you that she just wanted to see you again and that she is glad you are all right. Lina tries to tell you she loves you, but dies before she can get all the words out.

Desire shows up and blames you for Lina's death, and promises to end your life. You'll then be warped to another dimension where you fight Queen Desire, who is now in some sort of demonic seraphic form. Stay on the move so that her fireballs don't hit you, then move around to keep her on-screen and hit her with the Side Bow from a distance.

After enough distance, she tells you the battle isn't over and transforms into a giant spider. She will move in circular movements, sic explosive spiders at you and shoot three green lasers at you. Stay at the side and fight her with the Side Bow. If she stays on one side and you stay on the other, this will be easier.

When you beat Desire, you'll beat her for good, but she will reveal that Lord Gryuud has been revived and that a new dark world is beginning in your homeland of Danaal before she finally dies.

You'll be back in Distaria with Iria, who will tell you that you must hurry to Danaal Castle - the one place we haven't been all game. Lina is given a proper burial, then it's off to Danaal Castle. The endgame starts now!

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 18 of 22

We finally face Queen Desire on her own turf. Of course, we have to find her first, and we'll have to explore the whole castle in order to do it.

Distaria Castle

The blue lizardmen are stronger than the ones you've met before, and you'll also start seeing them in bigger numbers. Also, you'll finally meet the gold skeletons in a more colorful setting (pun intended).

The Holy Armor is a step up from the Golden Armor, so make sure you equip it.

The Distaria Key will let you enter the door to the east of the entrance.

When you talk to people as you go through the castle, you'll learn that the people of Distaria have begun to rebel, which has made Queen Desire so angry that she changed all the humans in the castle into monsters, save for the ones that are still human that you can talk to. One of them is Kris from Distaria Coliseum, who is relieved to see you again. She tries to dissuade you out of going further into the castle, then says she will await your return. In case you're hurt, she'll also be able to heal you just like she did in the coliseum.

One of the humans will not open a door until you get permission from the Elder, and even then recommends against due to all the monsters behind it. As you travel further, you'll find out that the humans who weren't turned into monster did not fully believe in Gryuud and did not delight in harming others. You'll also learn that people everywhere are revolting against Queen Desire, meaning that this is nearly coming to an end.

The Radiant Shield is the best shield in the game.

When you go as far up as you can go, you'll meet the Elder. He will tell you that none have fought against Desire and live, and that sealing the door below was the only way to save the remaining survivors. Nevertheless, he takes a chance on you and allows you permission to enter the sealed door, which will be open when you return to it.

There is now a green version of the barbarian/swordsman.

You can go to the Laiard Coliseum past the sealed door - though you cannot do anything in it - and get the Anger Lance. Sadly, you now have more powerful weapons that outperform it, but it's still a fun weapon. You'll also find the Hermit Cane, another weapon you could have rented in that part of the game.

The brown golems are a palette swap of the green ones you meet at the Shrine of the Sword. They charge at you like quite a few humanoid enemies do, but they're easy to deal with. The fireball enemies from the also make a return here.

You'll meet a mini-boss here: a horned one-eyed flying demon that flies around in circular motions while alternating speeds, shoots a five-way shot and also shoots out balls of lightning that bounce around the room. If you need to, use Time Stop and keep attacking with the Wide Bow. The first time you will see it is in a dead end that you don't even need to go to; the second time around, you'll have no choice. Be sure to save before fighting them; these enemies do not play around and they can tear you to shreds.

The Side Bow is more powerful than the Wide Bow, and it also has a triple shot.

The green flying demons with the two swords are brand new enemies. They can hit you at close range, but they can also shoot projectiles at you and they are pretty powerful regardless of how they hit you.

The Giant Axe is the most powerful ax/lance weapon in the game, and it has a bit of range to it.

The Treasure Key will be needed later on, so be sure you get it.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 17 of 22

Apparently the castle maze is harder than the boss itself.

Lufelia Castle

The third pit platforming segment is much simpler, but it is still simple to screw up. If you do screw up, you're going back to the drop-off point with the two Mimics. If you get through it, however, you'll take a very linear path to the next area. Again, save the game when you make it to the other side.

At the end of the path is King Orphus, who has been waiting for you. He tells you that you must defeat Desire as quickly as possible, as she is forcing innocent people to fight in her coliseums to gain dark power and make the entire world just like the abyss. He then tells you there is a gate to the dark world on the roof, and if you can defeat its guardian, you can return to the surface world. He then powers up the Legendary Sword with his spirit to make it the Shining Sword. If you plan on using it, re-equip it so that the sword's power does not equal your previous weapon. His throne then moves aside to reveal a path to the rooftop.

At the rooftop, equip the Shining Sword and the Time Stop spell. You'll meet the necromancer who teleported you into the abyss, and he transforms into a monster. When the monster lowers his head, cast Time Stop, then slash at the face with the Shining Sword and try not to touch it. If the screen starts flashing, cast Time Stop again before it wears off. If you keep up with the attacks, you'll take the guardian down in no time.

After the battle, Gryuud's pentagram lights up and you're back in Lufelia Castle, fully healed. Your next destination is Distaria Castle.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 16 of 22

It's time to head to Lufelia Castle to learn the truth and restore the power of the legendary blade of Orphus...if we can get out of an evil maze intact!

Lufelia Castle

When you enter the castle, you will see a huge Gryuud logo and a necromancer. When you talk to the necromancer, he will tell you that he knows who you are, and then sends you into an abyss.

You'll then end up inside a black-and-white nightmare. You'll want to fight the monsters for the experience (as always) as well as some keys.

The enemies that block doorways here can be killed with the crossbow.

The flashing tiles will damage you...and there are a lot of them.

The enemies are black-and-white just like you, but you will find stronger versions of the skeletons (which show up as gold later in the game) and the zombies.

The flames are souls who are trapped in the abyss. Some of them cry for mercy, but others will give you hints. One mentions the light, and another mentions that the light is you...and that you're a prince. Well, you are the son of a king, after all...

There is a new enemy here: a fireball-like being that bounces around the room and eventually turns into a humanoid form to shoot fireballs at you.

The room with the "I" made of flashing tiles will be where you end up if you fall into pits. If you're bad at platforming in this game, you're going to see this a lot. If you reach a section with a pit, do yourself a favor and save your game.

The first pit area will contain platforms with spikes. Make sure not to land on them, and to keep on the watchful eye on those that don't have spikes and constantly move around. When you get out of this area, immediately save your game so you never have to deal with this area again.

After the first pit area, there will be a hidden passage leading north inside the passage to the east. Taking it and following the path will lead to the Forked Spear, which is more powerful than the Silver Lance. It is like the Anger Lance, but you have slightly less range and the forks are diagonal.

The second set of moving platforms do not move around. Before you get there, a soul will tell you that the queen of Lufelia - your mother - is waiting. She tells you that your father, King Orphus, is also stuck in the abyss, and that you are the last hope for this world.

Before you tackle the second pit full of platforms, save your game. Falling down here will take you a pit that takes you all the way back to the beginning. If that happens, reset and reload your save file, because you'll be covering a lot of ground again and you'll have to do that first pit sequence again.

When you reach the stairs at the end, you'll come across a third pit platforming segment.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 15 of 22

Here's the boss battle with Kazard. This was hands-down the most difficult boss in the game, and he got his own video because of that.

When you meet Kazard, he notes your resemblance to Orphus before daring you to take the Darkworld Key from him.

King Kazard is possibly the hardest boss in the game, as his attacks span the room and his weak point changes throughout the battle.

At the beginning, aim for the arms. He will attack with an eight-way shot as well as some green projectiles that somewhat blend in with the floor, but he will also attack with a red fireball that tries to home in on you. If you see the red fireball, jump to throw it off. Your best bet is to use the bow and stay far away from Kazard as possible.

When you destroy Kazard's arms, the weak point will transfer to the muzzle of Kazard's horse where the green gem on its face is. This part takes a while, since you'll be playing keep-away if you're using the bow. You can strike it with other weapons, but I wouldn't recommend it. This is where having a Medical Herb as well as Aura Shield on stand-by really helps.

You'll eventually destroy the head, and it will be a hole where red fireballs and eight-way shots pop out constantly. At this point, you have to hit Kazard himself. It won't be long until you beat Kazard.

When you beat Kazard, he will tell you that you are the only who can pick up where Orphus left off and defeat Desire. He tells you about his betrayal of Orphus, and says that Desire offered him a deal when he ran out of strength: if he accepted Gryuud's magic, all of his people would be brought back to life. From there, he betrayed Orphus and the events that led up to the beginning of the game went into motion.

Realizing that his only means of atonement are leading you to Orphus, he grants you the Darkworld Key and tells you to go to Lufeia Castle and meet Orphus. Exit the room from the lower center portion of the south wall, and Queen Kazard will teleport in and thank you for defeating Kazard before telling you that she and the rest of the people of Kazard Castle will not live long after Gryuud's magic leaves this place. She thanks you for lifting the curse on Kazard Castle, and tells you that the castle will soon crumble. After the Queen tells you to escape as soon as possible, the game automatically takes you out of the caste and you will be fully healed when you reach the next area. Your next destination is Lufelia Castle.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 14 of 22

In this entry, we open up the door to King Kazard's chamber. Next entry will be the boss battle.

Believe it or not, one of the platforms near the north exit leading to King Kazard can be used as a shortcut. Leap off the north edge, and if you are close enough to the edge when you jump north, you'll take a shortcut to King Kazard. I don't do it here because I want to show off the torches and all the items (and because I was only able to pull it off twice out of all the attempts I did).

The Shura Sword is more powerful than the Legendary Sword, but that will change soon.

When you light all four charges, a platform far to the north of where you faced the Gargoyle will show up and allow you passage to King Kazard's chamber.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 13 of 22

We now head to Kazard to release the place from Desire's control. Thanks to our efforts, the people are standing up to Desire, and an uprising is at hand.

Kazard Castle

The first new enemies are guys in green robes who shoot fireballs out of their staves. As long as you stay on the moves, the fireballs that home in on you won't hurt you. Interestingly, they are palette swaps of High Priest Gohma from early in the game.

There are plenty of brown chests with Medical Herbs in them, so keep tabs on where they all are. Thankfully, none of the brown chests here contain Mimics.

Remember the guy who rolled into a ball and threw fireballs at you in Laiard Coliseum? He's a regular enemy now.

The Silver Lost Eye is an item that will come in handy later in the castle.

One room contains five women. One of them tells you that the two Lost Eyes - one of silver, one of gold - that opens the way to the castle interior. The king has hidden them somewhere in the castle. Another mentions that putting the Lost Eyes in the eye sockets of a statue, you'll find your way in. Another woman mentions that members of the rebel army has been occupying the castle, and yet another woman tells you that the queen of Kazard is alive and well somewhere in and wants to meet with you. Yet another woman tells you that people rebelling against Queen Desire are starting to rise up, and that Kazard was overthrown by Desire herself.

The disc throwing guy from Laiard Coliseum is a regular enemy now, as is the the barbarian-like enemy that moved around in circular motions.

In the queen's room, you'll find the Golden Lost Eye. By talking to the Queen, she will tell you that she knows you are the son of King Orphus, and that Orphus and King Kazard were comrades and friends. However, as Desire destroyed Lufelia, and that Kazard entrusted you and Flora - who is your older sister - to one of Kazard's knights: Muuk, the old man. He helped them escape, but he soon transformed into a demonic servant of Desire. She asks you to defeat her husband for his sake, and gives you the Ashura Rod - a more powerful magic rod that shoots a fireball that splits in all four diagonal directions - and tells you to take the Golden Lost Eye from the nearby chest.

The woman to the right of the queen will refill your HP and MP.

The archers will shoot arrows up in the air, and the arrows will land on where you stand. As long as you stay on the move and watch the arrows' shadows, they won't hit you.

The Golden Armor is a step up from the Crimson Armor, so go equip it.

The huge pit that you see further to the north on the second floor will take you back to the statue where you can place the Lost Eyes. By putting the Lost Eyes in the eye sockets, you'll hear a door open somewhere. The door in question is in the center of the second floor.

When you enter that door, you will face the Gargoyle. Equip the Wide Bow, stay away from his fireballs, and fire away while keeping the Gargoyle on screen. Also, stay out of his way when he moves, or else you're going to get tackled. Having Aura Shield and a Medical Herb ready will help very much in this battle.

Once you beat the Gargoyle, the platforms will start moving. Take the one that is immediately north and try to free the guy who is tied up. He will thank you for beating the Gargoyle, but as long as Kazard is alive, the chains will not disappear and none of the people trapped here can be freed. Another guy will tell you that Kazard is no longer human and that you must light the four torches in the two towers off to the sides of this area to lower the bridge that leads to the royal chamber if you wish to face him. You must use the Ashura Rod to light the torches.

As long as you pay attention to the platforms and watch your shadow when you jump, you won't have to worry about falling down into the pit and making your way all the way back to this area very much.

The fireball-shooting statues from the Laiard Coliseum dungeon are back, and they're much weaker.

If you show up in a torch with the Ashura Rod equipped, you'll be able to light the torch automatically just by attacking it. If you show up without the rod equipped and equipped, all you need to do is walk up to the torch, equip it, and you'll light it automatically then.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 12 of 22

In this entry, we face Lord Vraud before heading to Kazard Castle.

Now that you have both the Evil Sword and the Cursed Crown, you'll want to go back to the maze. Go to the door leading north in the northwest corner of the maze, then follow the path and fight your way through. Use the Mage Staff as you go, since you'll be forced to fight the flying eyeball enemies. You'll find a series of four cells. Open the second. You'll talk to a former adviser of the King who was stripped of his powers and placed in the cell by Lord Vraud. He tells you that in order to turn off the barrier surrounding King Sirius, you must extinguish the flames of the altar. To do that, you must sacrifice the Evil Sword and Cursed Crown on two pedestals.

The right-most cell contains a dead man carrying a note written in blood. This tells you that the Cursed Crown goes on the right pedestal and the Evil Sword on the left pedestal.

The path leading to the altar is noted by statues that swing axes. If the axes hit you, you're going to take a bit of damage. Wait for each statue to swing their ax, then pass through. Make sure you don't touch the statues, either; doing that will also cause you to take damage whether the statues are attacking or not. When you see a red flashing skull, you've found the altar. Just walk into the hands and you'll place the proper item in the proper place. With that, the barrier surrounding King Sirius will be gone.

Go all the way back to the throne room and talk to King Sirius. He will ask if you destroyed the barrier, then figures out who you are. He then mentions that he betrayed Orphus to Desire, and regrets doing it. He then tells you to go to Kazard and obtain the Darkworld Key to return to Lufelia. Unfortunately, Lord Vraud catches wind of what Sirius is doing, and makes the throne explode, taking Sirius with it. The resulting doorway leads to a meeting with Lord Vraud that you won't be able to escape from.

Lord Vraud's first form is a demon that floats around and surrounds himself with a ring of those eyeball enemies. When they scatter, Vraud is vulnerable, and as long as you can keep him on-screen, you can hit him with the Wide Bow as you avoid the eyeball enemies as they move around in either a linear or random pattern.

When you beat that form, you'll see Vraud's second form: some red demon that moves left and right across the room and sometimes turns invisible while firing an eight-way shot. Even when he is invisible, his eight-way shot reveals where he is. As long as you keep your distance while still keeping Vraud on-screen, you can keep hitting him with the Wide Bow, making this form just as easy the first and potentially even easier than that.

When you beat Lord Vraud, you'll be able to leave Sirius Castle. This time, you can just go straight south to take a shortcut to the secret entrance. You'll still have to go through the side entrance to get out. When you return to the overworld map screen, Lufelia Castle materializes south of Sirius Castle. You won't be able to go there yet; instead, press Right to head to Kazard Castle.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 11 of 22

We must now head to Sirius Castle if we are to succeed in our quest...

Sirius Castle

You won't be able to enter the front door, so you'll have to find another way.

If you go to the east and go through the western wall, you won't find it, but you will get the Kaiser Band, which is better than the Aura Band. Equipping it will increase your attack by 30.

From here, leave, and this time, go west. The Sirius Key will open a shortcut. The gray zombies will be the first enemy you meet, and you'll soon meet the green magicians, who teleport in. The guy you meet will tell you that King Sirius is acting strangely and that a man named Vraud holds the real power around here.

You can strike through walls with lances, and while you won't have many opportunities to do so, you can do it. If any enemies carry keys, however, you can't reach them with the lance. Thankfully, the enemy that carries it will re-spawn when you leave the room and come back.

The blue creatures that run around in circles and spit blue fireballs are a more powerful palette swap of the brown ones from the Laiard Coliseum dungeon.

The Wide Bow is the next step up from the Double Bow, and it shoots two arrows at wider angles than the Double Bow.

If you talk to the chef, he will tell you to wait a minute, as he is busy. He then tells you that behind him is the cellar, and inside is a specially prepared Demiglace Sauce that he made. He asks you to get it to him, then opens the cellar door. The gray chest contains the Demiglace Sauce, while two of the three brown chests are Mimics. Give the chef the Demiglace Sauce, and he will add it to the sauce.

Lord Vraud shows up and demands to know if the meal is ready, then leaves, not even noticing you in the process. If you talk to the chef again, you'll tell him what is going on. He will tell you that the king has changed completely, and that he fears something to the point that he has hidden himself behind a magical barrier that nobody can get through. Since then, Lord Vraud has been the only person who has been able to get near the king. The chef then tells you there is a secret stairway behind one of the pillars in the main hall, and from there, you can enter the underground labyrinth which leads to the king's chamber and to beware of Lord Vraud.

In the room with the columns and the skeletons, if you go behind the second pillar from the top on the right, you'll find the secret passage. If you take the nearby door to the north of that, however, you'll find the Buster Glove, which increases your attack power by 25.

In the maze, there is a seemingly empty room with a Medical Herb in the lower-left corner, and if you walk into that corner, you'll open the chest.

The Necromancer - which you met in Distaria Coliseum, just like the green magicians - is a normal enemy at this point, and they shoot an eight-way shot that while teleporting around just like the green magicians. The Wide Bow will make short work of them.

The very vast room is the throne room, and as expected, you won't be able to go through the magical barrier surrounding the king.

The skeletons with black shields are stronger than the ones you've met previously. Also, the flashing green ghosts are a new enemy, and they just wander around while randomly teleporting in and out. They can also be destroyed easily with the Wide Bow.

The Brave Pendant increases your defense by 20.

The Magical Shield is a step up from the Courage Shield.

In one area, there will be four columns and a tile near them. If you stand on the tile, it takes you up one floor to the chest containing a Cursed Crown. This is a special item that you'll have to utilize here, but what do you do with it? You'll find out soon enough.

The brown spheres with the one eye that opens when they stop moving - leaving them vulnerable - take a lot of abuse and deal out just as much...unless you have a Mage Staff. The Mage Staff is a step up from the Fire Staff, and you'll find it in the room where you first meet them, and it is very powerful against those enemies. Don't fight those enemies until you get the Mage Staff.

The pit with the platforms above it is your first major platforming test in the game. When in doubt, pay attention to your shadow so you'll know where you are landing. To the south of that is a room full of pits, and the right-most one will take you to the Evil Sword. That is not a weapon; instead, it is a special item that you will have to use in Sirius Castle.

The mimics are not only fast, they are powerful. This is why you hit brown chests with the bow at this point, folks.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 10 of 22

Our adventure now takes us to the Shrine of the Sword. Are we the one worthy of taking Orphus' blade?

Shrine of the Sword

As soon as you enter the dungeon, you will keep hearing buzzsaws running every other second. If you run into them, they will hurt.

Some doors are blocked by face-shaped panels that spit projectiles that you'll have to destroy with your weapons. Thankfully, they do not respond once destroyed.

The Morning Star a flail, and it is more powerful than the Haken. It even has more range, so if you like flail weapons, pick this up!

The Charm Pendant is another "Other Item." Equipping it will increase your defense by ten.

If you see a brown chest shake, attack it. It's a mimic, and it will attack you if you get too close. At this point in the game, attack all brown chests with a crossbow before approaching them.

The flashing tiles will damage you if you walk into them.

The Diamond Ring will be useful later, so go get it.

In the area where you find the ring, be careful. There will be holes that drop you into a flashing tile-laden area that leads you back to the starting area.

The sword that you find in the dungeon area is just a sculpture; however, there is something written on it. "Put the Ruby of Fate in my hilt. Then the way shall open."

You'll eventually meet Zakkar again. When you talk to him, he will notice that you have matured since the last meeting, then ask if you are looking for the Diamond Ring. When he finds out you're not, he says that Lufelia's national relics have been held here for a long time, and one of them is the Diamond Ring. Unfortunately, he found a ruby, which turns out to be the Ruby of Fate. If you have the Diamond Ring, you'll be able to trade it for the Ruby of Fate.

With the Ruby of Fate, go back to the sword. Before you do, go north in the doorway leading up to Zakkar. You'll find a Shield Ring, which will be under "Other Items" as a step up from the Protect Ring and will increase your defense by 25.

By putting the Ruby of Fate in the hilt of the sword, you'll be able to enter the Shrine of the Sword itself.

The blue lizardmen are more powerful than the green ones and take a lot more abuse before they finally go down.

When you reach the shrine, there will be an old man standing in front of it. He will tell you that the Shrine of the Sword has not had a visitor in years, and asks if you have come to seek King Orphus' sword before telling you that the sword cannot be taken by anyone. Even if the sword accepts you, you will still have many ordeals to overcome as the sword holds an important destiny. Nevertheless, he will not dissuade you, and tells you that the pedestal holds a deadly trap and that the Spirit Stones will guide you. If you talk to him again when you're hurt, he'll be able to heal you.

There are three Silent Stones in all: white, blue and red. You'll need them to reach higher levels of the pyramid-like shrine. The white one will be found inside the shrine, but to find the red and blue ones, you'll have to explore the entire area around the shrine until you find the northern corners and find the chests there..

The statues act as gatekeepers to the upper levels, and you'll need the Silent Stones to use the statues as teleporters to more of the shrine.

The statues simply move around the outer perimeter and do not attack, making them easy to take down for some extra experience.

When you reach the top of the shrine, you'll find the Legendary Sword, and you'll be able to take the sword with ease and feel its power course through your veins. Unfortunately, the statue holding the sword in its head comes to life after you break the seal on the sword, and states that it has waited for the one who inherits the sword of "the most hated Orphus." Since that person is you, it decides to destroy for carrying on from where Orphus left off.

Equip a crossbow and keep your distance. Watch out for the fireballs as well as the slime jellies that land on the ground and move around, and shoot every time the boss is on the ground. This boss has invincibility frames, so wait for it to stop flashing before killing it again. When you beat the boss, it calls Orphus "Orphus the Berseker" and proclaims that Queen Desire must be notified immediately.

Go back to where you teleported onto the roof of the shrine from. You'll meet the old man from outside, who tells you that Orphus was not a berserker after all, and was in fact the only king that fought Desire in the end, meaning that Queen Desire is trying to rewrite history in her image to paint King Orphus as an enemy in history. The old man will then tell you to go to both Sirius and Kazard and learn the truth.

You'll then return to Distaria Castle, where Princess Lina is waiting. When you meet Lina, she is happy that you survived, then asks for your forgiveness. Believe it or not, the trek to the Shrine of the Sword was also a trap, as they wanted to make sure you were the one with the power to continue King Orphus' mission. Since you pulled out the sword, you have confirmed that you are the one that Desire's forces must kill. Lina tells you not to return to the castle, as Desire will have you killed if you do. She tells you to go to Sirius Castle, as King Sirius is the only one who can help you now. She also hands you the Sirius Key, which allows you entry into the castle, before admitting that she was happy to have you at her side. Perhaps Lina isn't as evil as she first appeared to be...

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 9 of 22

We can't leave until we rescue Princess Lina, so we might as well go in there after her.

Crystal Cave

As soon as you start exploring the cave, you will be able to open a passage to the room to the east. The old man in green will be able to heal you, and he and the other people ask you to defeat the dragon as there are other girls besides Princess Lina who have been kidnapped. You'll also learn that you will need Dragon Claws to break some of the crystal that will block your path. You will find them in gray chests.

The flashing tiles will hurt you if you walk onto them.

The Fighter Glove will be under "Other Items." It increases your attack power by fifteen, so be sure you equip it.

The orange frogs are stronger versions of the green frogs you've previously met. Once again, you can't hit them with the crossbow, so use a non-crossbow weapon like the Haken to defeat them.

The Aura Band is a step up from the Power Band, and it increases your attack by 20 when increased.

The lizardmen charge at you when they see you, and they are both fast and powerful.

The gray glowing spheres cannot be destroyed with the crossbow. Use a long-range weapon like the Silver Lance to take them out, because if you run into them, they will do a ton of damage.

The blue faces that block some doorways will shoot projectiles at you. Using a powerful blade weapon will do more damage in less time.

The green dragon that kidnapped Lina is an enemy. They fly around in curves and spit blue fireballs. The earliest place where you will see them is on an icy floor, and while you're moving around, you have to come to a complete stop before you can finally attack. Take short, small movements so you can slip and slide less and attack a little bit faster. Also in that room is the Crimson Armor, which is a step up from the Soldier Armor and is a nice shade of red.

The gray tiles with the crosses on them also deal damage if you step on them.

The Double Bow is a step up from the Crossbow, and it shots two arrows forward and to the side. Thankfully, the angle on the arrows is pretty narrow, so you can still hit stuff in front of you without much difficulty while still being able to hit two enemies at once if your timing is good.

When you find the crystals with people inside, you're near the end. These are all of the captured girls, and if you go north from here, you'll find Princess Lina. Walk up to her to examine the crystal, then move away from her and do it again to get the dragon's attention.

The dragon will pop out of the wall and spit fireballs. Have the Double Bow equipped and keep hitting him in the head. The dragon has three attacks: a pair of fireballs that will slowly home in on you, a spread shot that goes across the room at multiple angles and a fast fireball that will hit you more likely than not unless you're good at jumping over things. Stay to the side of the dragon's head so you don't have to deal with the third attack and you can jump over the side shots of the spread shot. Also, be sure to keep the dragon on-screen so you can deal damage.

When you beat the dragon, the dragon will tell you that he is immortal and will return many years from now, but will commend you on your battle skills, as the only other person who was able to beat him with Orphus, King of Lufelia. He says that you may be able to claim the Legendary Sword in the Sword Shrine that Orphus left behind, and that it may be your destiny. Lina will be freed along with the rest of the missing girls, and the people who came here to confront the dragon will be relieved.

You'll then be back in Distaria Castle a few days later. Lina will thank you for rescuing her again, then tells you that she has overheard that the ministers are plotting to kill you, for they fear your strength. Lina does not want you to die, and mentions that you should go to the Sword Shrine like the dragon told you in order to find the Legendary Sword of King Orphus, who she refers to as "Orphus the Berserker," and increase your power. She also believes that you will return. You'll then go to the Shrine of the Sword.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 8 of 22

We now have to fight our way up the ranks to become champion again...but will we get our freedom this time?

To the north of where you start in Laiard Coliseum is where you can talk to other people as well as heal up, just like in Laiard Coliseum. Be sure to talk to everyone so you can enter the rankings, get information and finally get access into the information so you can fight in the arena and continue with this part. You'll also meet Ganku, who will give you hints on the enemies that you will face here. Sadly, he has not seen Iria. You can also rent equipment just like this time. The Metal Hammer is a large hammer, the Anger Lance is a long, powerful lance that can also strike to the sides in addition to forward, the Hermit Cane is a powerful wand with a large area of effect, and the Skull Shield is a shield with a lot of defense for this point in the game.

Your first opponent is the #4 ranked Vuura, who will summon skeletons to attack you. Don't worry about the skeletons; just focus on Vuura and you'll beat him.

After beating Vuura, Ganku will tell you that Waip is a magician who uses teleport. To beat Waip, stay on the move so he doesn't hit you with his fireball, and hit him when you're close enough. It is possible to destroy the fireball with your weapon. The Anger Lance makes this battle a lot easier.

After beating Waip, Ganku will tell you that Maitoh makes clones of himself. When you face Maitoh, you'll find out that he is a demon. When Maitoh shows up, he teleports out and then shows up with a bunch of clones all over the arena. While it's hard to tell how to find the real Maitoh, he and his clones will disappear if you hit him. Otherwise, you'll be playing the waiting game. If your level is in the high teens, you'll be able to kill Maitoh in two hits.

After beating Maitoh, Ganku will tell you that Ganyme is a giant crab monster with a hard shell and a bubble attack. Also, the other gladiators will finally start cheering you on, and you'll be told that Princess Lina will want to speak to you after the final battle here.

To beat Ganyme, get close to it and attack it. You want to corner this enemy just like you did the enemies in Laiard Coliseum, and the Anger Lance will do a very good job of that. That way, you won't have to worry about the bubble attack.

When you beat Ganyme, you will be summoned by Princess Lina to meet her in Distaria Castle. If you have a rental weapon/shield, you'll lose it here. At Distaria Castle, Lina will tell you that you exceeded her expectations. She will then speak to you alone, and all of her guards and advisers reluctantly leave before asking you to follow ger to a crystal cave to the east that is inhabited by a dragon. When asked to accompany here, say "Yes." You'll go into the cave, and no sooner do you enter that the dragon's servant take Lina away. You'll be stuck in the cave until you rescue her.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 7 of 22

Our trek through the coliseum dungeon brings some things to light...

Laiard Coliseum

The room full of jars at the beginning will refill your HP and MP.

The Warrior Sword is the next step up from the Iron Sword. You can use that, or you can stick with the Haken.

There is a statue shortly after the beginning, and if you destroy it, you'll be able to enter the waterways. You'll be destroying some more statues to open up other areas along the way.

The zombies in the waterways will charge at you if you're lined up with them and you happen to be in their line of sight.

The red creatures with the brown bodies will run towards you, stop and shoot a fireball at you, but the Haken can make quick work of them.

To get the Fire Staff - the first wand weapon of the game that shoots a fireball forward - stand between the two doorways and walk north. That's it.

There is a dead end that leads to a secret room containing the Crossbow, your first bow and arrow weapon of the game. This lets you attack enemies from a very good distance, and is even stronger than the Fire Staff. It does have some elevation that keeps you from hitting some low-lying enemies, but it is the best weapon so far.

There is yet another secret area that is easy to miss later on, and it contains the Protect Ring, which is better than the Guard Ring and is next to it in "Other Items." It increases your defense by fifteen.

The skeleton will pull itself together when you get near it. Hit it, then wait for it to get back up to hit again. Repeat until it's dead.

The Soldier Armor is a step up from the Silver Armor you found in Gryuud's Tower, so be sure to equip that as well.

The lancemen take a few hits to kill, and can easily be rid of with the Crossbow. If you hit them from behind When you first see them, you can find a secret passage leading to three medical herbs.

For the area with the two bridges, step on the first bridge, then jump over the first, third and fifth parts on the bridge to keep the door open.

The Knight Shield is a step up from the Copper Shield.

By pushing the statue onto the flashing tile, you can open up a bridge leading to more of the waterway area. You'll eventually find King Loire - Iria's father - on what is basically his deathbed, and he will think you are King Orphus, even though Orphus is dead, then say that you look a lot like him. You will tell him that his daughter Ilia is a gladiator in the coliseum, he will blame himself for it, tell you he does not have long to live, and tells you to resuce Ilia. Say "Yes," then he will peacefully pass away.

When you try to leave, you'll be face-to-face with King Goran, one of the three people who saw you fight in the coliseum. He will blast you through the wall, where you will have another boss battle with Goran. When you see him, keep hitting him with the Crossbow and avoid the fireballs that he shoots out as he teleports in and out. After enough damage, he teleports to the center of the room and transform into a monster.

For Goran's second form, keep your distance and hit Goran with the Crossbow again. He will shoot fireballs that will home in on you; run away from those until they disappear. He will also shoot two eight-way shots simultaneously, but if you keep back a bit and position yourself properly, they're easy to avoid. If you need to, cast Aura Shield to minimize the amount of damage that you take. Goran will eventually fall.

After the battle, you'll be at the front entrance of the coliseum, where you will tell Ilia that her father has passed away. Ilia will refuse to believe it before losing her only reason to fight, and decides to escape, having no reason to stay in the coliseum. You escape along with her, but when you do, you are caught by Queen Desire and her guards and overpowers both of you. She is about to destroy you both when Lina shows up and wants to make you her slave, saying it is no fun if Desire were to kill you and Ilia right away. Desire, noting that you were able to beat Goran, decides to do this despite one of the guards saying that the seed of misfortune should be destroyed while it is still a seed. We are then taken to Distaria Coliseum, where we have to do the whole "fighting in an arena" thing again. At least we get a full heal once we're there. From there, we are met by Princess Lina, who declares herself your new master before leaving.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 6 of 22

Well, we won the tournament, but we refuse to deal the final blow. This gets us sent to the dungeon, potentially to be executed. It's time to escape.

At this point, you'll start meeting enemies you haven't seen yet, and Sakkatsu is an enemy you'll be seeing regularly later.

To beat Sakkatsu - a guy with a disc weapon - corner him with a flail weapon like the Death Scythe like you did the other enemies. He moves around in curved line-like fashion, so trapping him isn't too hard. He may hit you from a distance, but you'll be piling on the pain.

After beating Sakkatsu, you'll see a blonde-haired girl in a pink dress surrounded by guards. Talking to the guards will reveal that the girl - named Princess Lina of Distaria - is interested in the personal inspection of the gladiators. Also, you'll notice that Paris is gone, and one person will tell you that Blarda defeated him. By talking to the people nearby, you'll learned that Queen Desire used the power of Gryuud to not only destroy countries who defied her, but make her servants into rulers of wicked kingdoms. You'll learn that King Carleem of Danaal was born a commoner and would do anything for money, including selling his soul to Gryuud to become a king.

The soothsayer will tell you that Iria is unable to leave the castle because her father is somewhere in the castle and something might happen to her. He tells you to save Iria. Ganku will tell you that there is another coliseum in Distaria where the gladiators fight monsters instead of each other, much to Ganku's relief. The guy to the right of Ganku will tell you of one hero who fought Desire to the end: Lufelia's king, who was eventually defeated due to King Kazard's treachery. Because of this, Lufelia and its people no longer exist. Iria will tell you that you will have the chance to fight her if you beat Blarda, but she will not be merciful.

To beat Blarda - a guy with a sword who moves in curve-like patterns - trap him like you did everyone else. He can hit you from a distance with supreme accuracy, but you can trap him even more easily than you did Sakkatsu.

After beating Blarda, people will tell you to succeed and win your freedom to defeat Queen Desire. Ganku will tell you that he has decided to go to the coliseum in Distaria, as he has gotten permission to do so and he has had enough of beating up other people. The guy near Ganku will tell you that the king of Lufelia's name: Orphus. When he utters it, however, he suffers from a curse that makes him explode and kills him when he utters Orphus' game. Iria is nowhere to be found because she is the next person you will face...and she is a lot different from all the other opponents you've faced. After Iria wishes she did not have to fight you and says that she has no choice, you

Run around the arena and watch for Iria's shadow when she jumps into the air. Her shadow will reveal where she will land before throwing a shuriken at you, so run up to the shadow and strike her. Having the Death Scythe or any distance weapon makes this easier, for the faster you can strike her, the less likely she is to deal damage to you. Having the Cursed Shield is a little better, but if you don't have that, you can always use Aura Shield if this battle is giving you a tough time. Using Time Stop is a bad idea, however, because if you hit her while the spell is active, she won't come back down from above until the spell wears off.

Once you beat Iria, walk up to her to trigger some dialogue. Iria will tell you to kill her after complimenting your skills, but you will automatically refuse. Queen Distaria will become absolutely furious and calls your refusal to kill Iria blasphemy and defiance towards Gryuud. She sics the guards on you, then you are imprisoned in the dungeonand set to be executed. If you've rented anything from the guy behind the counter, it will be removed on the next screen.

In the dungeon, Iria will show up and tell you to get out of here, then tells you that if she leaves, her father will be killed. After telling you to save yourself, she tells you to leave. Leave the cell, and you'll be able to talk to people. One man is a former minister, and he will tell you that King Loire is held captive in the underground waterway below. Another man will tell you that if you don't destroy the fire-breathing stone statue, the waterway entrance won't open. To the west is the next dungeon.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 5 of 22

Well, we're stuck in the gladiator's arena. Can we fight our way out...?

Now that you're stuck in the coliseum, you'll have to fight for your life. You'll meet the healer - who will refill your HP and MP between battles - and everyone else in the first room you're in, but when you go to the north, you'll face King Careem again...and boy, is he a piece of trash. He expects you to win so he can get a ton of money while you languish in here until you're dead. From here, he and a few guards leave. If you talk to the guards, you can go fight in a match. If you choose to fight in a title match, you'll face one of the ranked opponent. If not, you'll just fight a monster for a small sliver of experience.

To the west of the room leading to the arena, you'll see where you are in the rankings. Once you win one of the matches, you'll be on the top six. You'll also meet Ganku, who you'll see off and on throughout the rest of the game, and if you talk to him, you'll learn about the events that have led to the way the world is at this point, and also tells you about the practice matches as well as the real matches. The practice matches are against monsters you've already faced before, and if you're close to a level at this point, you can keep fighting in practice matches until you level up. Sadly, you won't get much in the way of experience, so you're better off going through the title matches. You'll also meet a woman in pink who will give you hints on how to take on the other competitors. You'll also find out that anyone who becomes champion can be set free.

The guy behind the counter will let you borrow items that are pretty powerful. There are four items, and you can only take one item at a time. The Golden Axe is a very powerful axe; the Death Scythe is a very powerful flail weapon with quite the range that will be very useful; the Fire Staff is a powerful staff that allows to shoot fireballs at the ground to deal damage; the Cursed Shield raises your defense up quite a bit.

When you talk to everyone in that room and go back to the room leading into the arena, you'll see more people. Paris is not only an annoying character, but one that is none too bright. Meanwhile, the other guys in the room consider you to be an annoyance and don't think highly of you.

In the practice matches, you'll fight not only slimes (which cannot be hit at all with the Death Scythe, which goes right over it), but also fireballs that slowly travel around randomly. Both are easy and don't give much experience.

The first title match is against Arigaluu, who is just a red and gold soldier enemy. If you can trap him in the corner with a flail weapon, you'll easily kill him.

After beating Arigaluu, you'll get some info by talking around. You'll find out that the queen of Distaria is the founder of the Gryuud cult, and that she is not a nice person at all. You'll also learn about #1 ranked Iria, and that a certain old man in the room to the right wants you to survive. If you talk to Ganku, he will tell you about King Goran, who borrowed the pwoer of Desire, the queen of Distaria, to seize control of Laiard. If you beat Lansath, you'll learn more. Another person will tell you that Laiard was peaceful until King Loire was overthrown by Goran. Yet another person will tell you that Iria is exceedingly powerful. If you talk to the woman in pink, she will tell you that Lansath uses a halberd.

To beat Lansath, who looks like the other guards, equip a flail, hit him from the side, and trap him in the corner like you did Arigaluu. You'll be 5th place before you know it.

By talking to people, you'll learn that Queen Desire summoned Gryuud to the world and that Iria is a female warrior. You'll also find out the old man from earlier is King Loire's personal soothsayer and that he considers you the last hope remaining for the people. Ganku will tell you that Goran imprisoned King Loire somewhere in the castle, and another person will tell you that Desire led the cult of Gryuud into battle against King Loire and defeated him so that Goran would become king. You'll also learn that the woman in pink is Iria all along. If you talk to Iria, you'll learn that Groba uses poison claws.

To beat Groba, stay away from Groba when he starts rolling around, then get close and hit him when he gets out of his ball form. When he stops moving, he is about to throw two projectiles in two different directions. If you can trap him in the corner with a flail weapon, do it; otherwise, keep your distance.

By talking to people again, you'll learn that Desire built the coliseum and that you and the other gladiators are human sacrifices to Gryuud in Desire's quest to acquire the power of darkness. You'll learn that Iria has not left the coliseum despite becoming champion for some reason. Also, Paris is still annoying, and his next opponent is Blarda, who is ranked second...which means he's probably going to die. The old soothsayer will tell you that Iria is King Loire's daughter and therefore the princess of Loire, which would matter if her father had not been overthrown. Ganku will tell you that he was once a soldier of Kazard in the south, and that Kazard is no longer the place he once knew thanks to Queen Desire, who enslaved the people there. Another person will tell you that every country that has opposed Desire has been overthrown. If you talk to Iria, she will tell you that she will show no mercy if you fight her.

PrinceWatercress plays Tougi Ou: King Colossus - Part 4 of 22

...and now for the maze where your skills are put to the test. Y'know, if the holes stayed revealed like in the Ozzie section in Magus' Castle in Chrono Trigger, I'd like this part a little more.

From Muuk's House, head to the Forest of Bewilderment, which will be to the northwest.

Forest of Bewilderment

Head north at the start of the maze; you'll be able to break up a path blocking you from the start of the maze.

It is possible to take a wrong turn and be forced to backtrack, so watch your step.

The wolf-like enemies throw rocks at you. Let them throw their rocks, then attack them as they hop back to their weapons as they will be completely vulnerable then.

You'll eventually run into some guards, who will recognize you due to the mark on your hand (and maybe Muuk telling them about you). They will tell you about the holes int the path and to watch out for them. Sadly, you'll have to remember where they are as they are always covered up no matter what. You do want to fall into them at least once for two things: a Medical Herb if you don't have one, and the Silver Lance, which will be a useful weapon to have at this point in the game. To go back above ground, just walk a big root on a wall.

The frogs will hop around and attack you with their tongues, but they are very slow and can easily be hit with a weapon.

The Copper Shield is the first shield of the game; take the time to equip it.

There is a detour near the end where you will find a healer; he will replenish your HP and MP if you need it.

You'll eventually find a guard in front of a door, and if you talk to him, he will tell you that Gomunus is behind the door and that he smashes people with rocks. He'll get out of your way when Gomunus wakes up, and you'll be able to go in and face Gomunus.

Gomunus moves in wave-like patterns, and the rocks that he throws will try to home in on you on the first bounce. For best results, hit Gomunus from the side; if you hit him from the front or back, he will charge at you due to being behind him or in front of him for too long.

When you leave the area after beating Gomunus, you'll meet a man in pink and white who is flanked by four guards. This is Carleem, ruler of the kingdom of Darnaal, and he is impressed with your performance against Gomunus. He will say that Muuk was right about you, and from here, you will be a gladiator in his arena. Gomunus will leave, then you will head to Muuk's Cabin. Talk to Muuk, and he will tell you that the battle with Gomunus was a demonstration of your abilities and part of his plan. From here, you are not just a gladiator; you are Carleem's slave. The symbol on your hand is that of a gladiator, and that those who bear the mark must continue to risk their lives for the sake of their master until they die. Four soldiers show up and pay Muuk off, then you get taken away. Also, it is revealed that the girl in white and green here is named Flora, and Muuk will reassure her that we will return stronger and wiser.

You'll be taken to Laiard Coliseum and be forced to enter through the back gate. You'll now be fighting for your life...
