PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 24 of 32

It's time to take on the desert levels, and if you were expecting something even harder, well...it actually doesn't happen. The sailing is a little smoother from here on in.

First | Previous | Next | End

Fun in the Sun

Welcome to the desert levels! After completing three of the jungle levels, we're able to start playing these levels. After having to go through absolute madness with Evo's Escape, this part is going to be a breeze. For some reason, the desert levels are the easiest ones to get through, and it's not exactly established why. Maybe these were actually meant to be "cool down" levels after everything you've been through. Maybe the development team were running out of time and money to make the game. Maybe they were meant to be the first set of levels, although that's probably not the case due to how the beginning of the "Euro" levels got the game started on the right foot. Nevertheless, this is where the game eases up, and sometimes, gets a little creative.

For Fun in the Sun, you'll need to restart the oil pump and open the fuel line valves in order to restart the machine that produces the station's fuel supply.

You'll start out as an armed desert fox. With the B button, you'll have a three-way pistol shot, and use you can use that to lay waste to enemies from a distance. There will be a camel to the right of where you start, and you'll want to blow it away immediately. Just be ready to keep your distance when the camel approaches when you shoot at it enough times, as it will run at you and spit water at you.

Once you take out the camel, don't take control of it just yet. You're still going to need the armed desert fox and its ability to jump in addition to shooting. Make sure not to take out the speaker will progressing past the start, or else you won't be able to clear the gap and you'll be forced to restart.

There is an oasis just past the start. If you wade into it with the armed desert fox, the water will actually damage you and kill you due to poor water resistance. Instead, you'll want to get close to the corner of the oasis across from the two camels in the distance and shoot tt the camels instead. The bullets from the Armed Desert Fox's hot shots actually travel downwards after a short period of time, and if you're standing in the right spot, you can rain down mortor shots on the one near the pyramid. To take out the other one, however, you'll need to find a mound of sand near a wall, jump to the cliff side and then travel towards the pyramid before getting close to the camel. Doing this can let you chase the camel back to where you have to jump before you get to the pyramid, and you can more easily hit the camel there if you keep moving back and forth near the edge.

The camel will be used to push a block near the door leading to the next area. Once you've pushed the block, you'll still want to be the Armed Desert Fox for what's up ahead. You'll also want the camel to get the Power Cell that is blocked by the oasis.

In the next area, there are a few other armed desert foxes, and they will shoot you on sight. Keep your distance and pay attention to where they patrol so that they don't fire back at you. You may have to close to them and fire mercilessly on them and kill them before they kill you. Thankfully, there's plenty of energy in the earlier areas. You'll see a switch near the big brown pipe; jump on it to turn on the oil pump.

By looking around the perimeter of this section, you'll find another hill of dirt that you can go up to explore more of the level with. Once again, keep your distance and figure out where your hot shots will work best when blasting at enemies.

Shooting down all of the armed desert foxes will net you the trophy. You'll need to get to the vulture platform to get it.

At the oil switch, you'll see two squares moving up and down. You'll need to jump on one of them, then jump to a switch to activate it and turn on an elevator. This will allow you to make your way to the exit teleporter. Before you can activate it, you'll need to jump across the three nearby platforms. Make sure that you can jump from one to the next without being burned by fire.

On the other end is the aforementioned vulture platform where the trophy will be. There will be a vulture that you need to shoot down as well as a Power Cell. Shoot down the vulture, then take control of it. From here, you can get the final Power Cell, fly to the valves at the nearby fuel line, drain the oil, and get to the exit.

As the vulture, you can press the B button while on top of another animal to take it wherever you need to go. Press B again to let go of whatever you've grabbed with your talons to lob it. Remember that for later.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 23 of 32

This level was by far the hardest part of the entire Let's Play.

First | Previous | Next | End

Evo's Escape

This level is the third of the EVO shellsuit levels, and not only is it the hardest of those levels, it's also one of the hardest levels in the entire game.

In this level, you're shooting down enemies after EVO takes control of a chameleon and runs off before Dan finds a flying security camera with a gun on it. The Control Stick moves the camera, A shoots and B button speeds the camera up. You have to shoot down as many animals as possible, as different animals have different point values, in order to face EVO and shoot him down to get the shellsuit piece.

Why is this level so hard? Because it's atrocious in execution. You can move the camera and aim, but the lack of a target reticle on the screen makes it a gamble to guess where you're aiming, so you're better off continuously firing at all times. Because of this, it's hard to hit just about every enemy that's here unless you have a rough idea of what you're doing, and even then, that doesn't feel like enough. It doesn't help that the camera moves at one speed and you can't hold another button to fine-tune aiming and rotate more slowly. There's a shooting gallery section midway through, but good luck hitting anything with a high point value.

There are power-ups such as double arrow shots missiles that do more damage, but once again, good luck hitting anything. All I could do was just hold A and move the camera around to shoot everything I could, and if you want to get the bare minimum of 12,100 points that you need to trigger the part where you shoot at EVO and get the arms, you have to shoot just about every animal down and destroy them. That also includes the two parrots at the end, which are worth 1000 points each, and all the chameleons before that, which are 500 points each. I also made sure to shoot every piranha, as they are 500 points a pop, as well as the two turtle tanks that are also worth 500 points each. Lions are worth 300, but even near the end, every little bit is going to help.

If you get anything less than 12,100 points, the level will end and you'll have to play it again. If you get 12,100 or above, EVO will show up in his chameleon form and you'll have to shoot him down. EVO leaves a footprint trail wherever he goes, and you can use that to aim the camera and keep shooting to take him out. The boss battle doesn't end until you beat EVO, so take your time and keep shooting and aiming to bring EVO down and get the arms.

Somehow, getting the trophy here is harder than the level itself.

Jungle Jumps

You'll need to kill all the gorillas, kill all the hyenas and collect all the keys to get through this area.

You'll start off as the racing turtle. There will be a key on the path behind you, and there will also be Power Cells near it. There is also an area you can only enter with the turtle left of where you start, and it contains more Power Cells and a box with energy in it.

Go opposite of where the first key was and use the shell attack to take out the elephant, then use the turbo ramp to go up the ramps and go through the rings. Keep moving forward and turbo boost off the ramps to continue and go through another ring. You'll soon move past where you need to put the keys as you keep moving forward. Turbo boost off the ramp to get to the platform with the tree, then make your way further around the perimeter of the level to return to the start. Leave the gorillas on the way back alone for now.

Explore the ground area of the starting area. You'll find another elephant to take down, so do that. There is another area to enter as the turtle for energy if you need it. From here, control the elephant. There is a cave that you need to go to take out two motorcycle hyenas. Spit water at them and take them out, and make sure that neither of them falls into the lava. This is possible to have happen, and if it does, you won't be able to finish the level. You may take some damage, but as long as you're aggressively hitting them with water, you should be fine. Take control of the hyena from this point and use your missles to defeat the chameleon on your way out. As the chameleon, you have a tongue attack with A and the ability to be invisible with B, but you need to hold the button down to stay invisible and you won't be able to attack while you are. Unfortunately, with the way I've done things, I won't need the chameleon.

You'll want to control the hyena from here on in. Head back to the area just before you return to the start and take out the two gorillas here with your missiles. Take control of one of the gorillas and head back to the starting area. Go back to ground level and double jump across the metal boxes, then double jump over the branches that act as platforms on the tree to get to the bridge. Double jump from plank to plank to get your second key.

From here, you'll need to jump to the nearby vine and double jump up the branches to another vine. You'll need to swing and jump to a second vine, then jump off that to go through another ring. This is the fourth and last ring you need to go through, as well as the hardest, since you risk taking fall damage if you miss the vines on the way to the ring. If you go through all four rings, though, you'll get the trophy, which will appear on a log to the right of the first two ramps you saw near the first elephant. You'll need to swing on yet another vine to get to it, but at least the worst and the hardest of this is over. Just remember that you need to single jump off the vine or else you'll keep missing the trophy every time. There is also another ring near the keyholes, as well as a vine. This vine will take you to another vine, which in turn takes you to three power cells and a key. This key will be the third and last one you need.

When you have all three keys, go back to the keyholes. You'll unlock the panel in the ground and you'll be able to go through the exit teleporter.

Unless you experiment with things, you're not going to know what the level name hints at.

Weight For It!

Not only do you have an elephant that you have to get out of a tree, but you also have to activate a switch to reveal some stepping stones and take control of a piranha. Time to get to work.

You start off as a lion. A jumps and B roars, and the roar also acts as an attack. There will be a hyena near where you start; chase after it and keep roaring at it to destroy it. There will also be a gorilla running around; you'll want to roar it to death too. Thankfully, you can do it from a distance atop a tree root.

From here, take control of the gorilla, go up the ramps, and grab the box. Take the box to ground level near the red ring that is floating over the ground, then grab the boulder that is also laying around near this ring. Throw the boulder over the red ring to get rid of it, then take the boulder and throw it into the red ring above the water near the exit. Grab the box and take it to the ring near the speaker, then get the boulder near the speaker and throw it into the ring. Go up the ramps to the top of the mountain, swing to the top of the giant tree trunk, then throw the nearby boulder into the nearby red ring. There will be some vines to the side; swing to the other side and hits the switch to activate the stepping stones. Use the nearby waterfall to drop down.

From here, grab the box, bring it to the top of the mountain, then grab the boulder that is halfway up the mountain and throw it through the red ring that is suspended in mid-air nearby. By throwing boulders through all the red rings, you'll get a trophy. The trophy will be at the top of the mountain, ready to grab.

Go inside the tree trunk and place a hyena on the middle platform in the center, then go back to the top of the mountain and place the box on the metal platform. Now you see why the level has the title that it has. Swing to the top of the tree trunk, then switch to the hyena and jump across the stepping stones. Travel around the perimeter of the level. Near the big palm tree, there is a parrot. Laugh it to death with the hyena. From here, you can take control of the parrot.

Fly back to the pool that you saw after the stepping stones and hit the switch to reveal a metal platform, then get in the water to get the piranhas' attention. Get out of the water and divebomb them to defeat them, then take control of one of the piranhas. As a piranha, follow the path, and when you see a wooden wall a little further down the path, get to the surface and jump over it to hit another switch. This will reveal a metal bridge and lower the door.

Go back to the parrot and take control of it, then get back to the tree near the huge logs. There are two ways to get the elephant off the branch. The first is pushing it off with the parrot. The second - which is probably not intended - is taking control of the lion and repeatedly jumping and roaring to shove it off more slowly. I do the latter. You'll need the elephant to get the last two Power Cells and exit the level.

This is where the jungle levels start getting more difficult.

First | Previous | Next | End

Swamp of Eternal Stench

In order to complete this level, you'll need to take control of a hyena after getting out of the swamp, find a way to climb the vines, and free the Magic Rope.

You start out in the swamp as the racing tortoise. Unlike the other turtle, pressing and holding A lets you bust out a turbo boost instead of firing a cannon. Start by going forward until you run into a sign pointing left. Turn the camera in the direction the sign is pointing, then move forward again. You'll run into a sign with an exclamation point. There is a tree northwest of where you can read this sign; turbo boost to it. You'll take damage from going into the swampy goop, but it's worth it. Head to the tree near that one. There will be a platform nearby with an energy pick-up; go to that energy pick-up. You'll then see dry land that you can immediately get to.

Once you're on dry land, get away from the hyenas and heal yourself. You don't need to heal yourself to full; just grab one health pick-up. Once you're healed up, go up to one of the hyenas and chase it around while mashing the B button. Aside from hiding, this is actually your main attack, and by doing this near the hyenas, you can kill them. I recommend killing both of them; it makes things easier. Take control of a hyena, and that will be one of your mission objectives complete.

If you go between the bars by going up to them as the hyena and then leaving the hyena body to pick up the Power Cell on the other side, you'll get the Trophy.

You'll eventually have to jump around and explore as the hyena in order to travel around the perimeter of the level, and by doing that, you'll find two gorillas. You'll need to jump to avoid their earthquakes and laugh them to death, and once again, taking care of both of them will make things easier. If you need to, grab the energy pick-up near them to stay alive longer and take them down. You'll need a gorilla for what we're about to do.

The gorilla not only lets you climb the vines, but it will also allow you to continue with the level. So that's two mission objectives down. Use the B button to grab a steel drum, then carry it towards the area you haven't been yet. Press B again, and you'll put the drum down. While carrying an object, you can also jump with the A button. From there, you can double-tap A to do the ground pound attack, which also acts a double jump, and get up to the wall where a shadow will be moving back and forth. This is a vine. You'll be using it later.

By exploring this area, you'll find out that the lowest vine is directly above a tree root. Jump into the vine from the bottom, and if it's low enough, you'll automatically grab on. Once you leap into a vine and grab it, you'll want to move the camera so that you're seeing the gorilla from the side. From there, move back and forth with Left and Right on the Control Stick, then press A to jump and grab onto the next vine automatically when you fly into it. For best results, you want to be on the bottom of the vine as you swing and jump to get the most distance on both your swings and your jumps.

Some of the vines are on drones that fly up and down, and you'll need to time your jumps so you can reach some of the vines and avoid taking fall damage. If you need to, you may have to bring another steel keg to start at the middle rather than the beginning.

You'll need to swing across all of the vines here in order to reach the Magic Rope; you won't be able to get to it otherwise. Once you grab onto the Magic Rope with the gorilla, it will fly across the level, stopping at the brown mounds with the square platforms at the top. If you need to, wait at one of the mounds for the Magic Rope. Thankfully, the game tells you when it's about to show up if you stand on the mound. You'll also need the Magic Rope to find and get to the exit teleporter.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 19 of 32

You have no idea how much of a pain this level was to record. If it wasn't the fire cave, it was the turtle. If it wasn't the turtle, it was the invisible maze. The it was the worst, but if you use the camera well, it can save you a lot of hassle.

First | Previous | Next | End

Jungle Doldrums

You'll need to turn on the log ride as well as destroy the parrot in this stage in order to complete it.

You start off as the hyena. Drop down and circle around the hippopotamus and laugh it to death with the laugh attack. It has a water spit (A button) as well as a mine drop (B button), and both can hurt, so you'll want to do this while taking as little damage as possible. Once again, you have to keep the laugh attack going long enough to do any significant damage, and you have to be dangerously close to the enemy you want to defeat.  Once you defeat the hippo, take control of it.

The camera near the log ride will show you the complete loop around the level, including the fire pit that Dan mentions.

As the hippo, go into the water to walk on the surface below and hit the switch turning on the log ride. You can then turn back into the hyena and jump from log to log. Be careful when jumping, as the logs can do a little bit of damage if they hit you from the side. Also, make sure you're in the center of the logs before jumping. And before you ask, yes, you have to use the logs to get to the other side; you won't be bale to do that by just jumping out of the water.

On the other side, take out the elephants with the laughter attack. It takes a bit of time, but it will help out in the long run with this level. After that, push the rocks so you can get the Power Cells here as well as jump to the green area that leads to the next part of the level, which is the fire cave.

At the fire cave, you'll need to watch out for the moving walls as well as the rocks that shoot out of the lava and hit the ground nearby. For the walls, you'll want to jump back towards the floor before you get pushed far enough towards the lava to ensure you get to the other side. As for the rocks, you'll want to be patient and wait for those.

On the other side, use the hyena's laugh attack to take care of the elephant. Take control of the elephant, then corner the turtle and hit it with the water attack. You'll then want to take control of the turtle for the hardest part of the level: the invisible maze about the fire pit.

As the turtle, you'll want to keep firing your weapon in order to find where the invisible floor is. The rain machine nearby is supposed to help you figure out where the pit is if you hit the switch, but it does not do the best job. There are rocks that pop out of the pit that hit the invisible floor, but those are spread out. The turtle's A button weapon is far more reliable. For best results, you'll want to carefully inch forward just a bit and fire constantly. If you see an explosion in front of you, that means invisible floor will be there. If you don't, you're about to run into a pit. Change direction and fire towards other locations to find out where you need to turn and go in order to get through this maze, and rotate the camera so you don't accidentally fall off while trying.

Once you reach the other side, destroy the parrot. The parrot will be close to where you come out of the maze from, and if you know what you're doing, you can destroy it with a flurry of shots before it can fly away and attack you. Not surprisingly, the parrot attacks - and controls - the same way that the seagull from the ice levels does.

You'll now want to take control of the parrot and fly through the level. After all, why would you want to go through the invisible maze again? Fly towards the exit, but don't take it yet. Instead, fly back to the starting. There is a platform you can only reach as the parrot, which has the last two Power Cells. Also, go back to where you started the level. There is a platform on the tree that only the parrot can reach. Fly up to it, then keep flying your way up the tree. You'll find the trophy sitting there on a branch that you wouldn't have seen as any other animal, so you might as well fly over and get it. After that, you're finally done. Head to the exit.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 18 of 32

In this entry, we start playing the jungle levels. They start off easy enough, but if you're going for 100%, this world gets wicked difficult by the end.

First | Previous | Next | End

Jungle Japes

Welcome to the jungle levels. Here, difficulty is king, and while this one starts off softly, you'll be amazed by how much more difficult it gets to complete all the levels 100% by time you reach the last level in the set.

The air intake for the engine room is blocked, and because of that, this area is overheated and the animals are not happy. You'll need to switch the air pump back on, then destroy the piranhas that are guarding the exit.

You start out as a turtle tank. Pressing A will allow you to shoot powerful cannon blasts, while pressing B allows you to hide and defend yourself. Thankfully, movement is easily doable with the Control Stick.

Once you cross the wooden bridge at the start, you'll need to fight two elephants. Get close so you don't get hit by the water they spray at you, then start blasting. You'll need to take control of at least one of these elephants, so as soon as you defeat one, switch out from the turtle tank.

As the elephant, pressing A executes the water spray, while pressing B allows you to pick up an object such as one of the rocks blocking your path. Pressing B again while holding an item lets you throw it. Interestingly, you can defeat the other elephant with the one you're playing as right now just by throwing a rock at it. Unlike the water spray, which will make the other elephant fight back, the other elephant won't even recognize having a rock thrown at it as a means of attacking, and as a result, it won't do anything. I wish I was kidding.

Speaking of the rocks, there are three small divots in the ground past where you fight the elephants where you can place the rocks that block your path. Doing so will allow you to unlock the trophy, which you won't be able to get until you activate the air pump.

From here, switch back to the turtle and shoot down the hyenas near the divots. I do it from the top of the slopes leading downward so they cannot notice me. It works. Once you take out both of the hyenas, head to the water and shoot down the three piranhas from the edge of the pond. You'll want to shoot down all three, as they can rip away at your health if you get in the water while they're alive.

As the hyena, you can jump with A and laugh with B. The laugh is actually an attack, and if you can be near an enemy long enough at laugh them down, the laughter will actually do damage. The enemy will also try to run away, however. Keep that in mind. As the hyena, you can jump on the switch that activates the air pump. With that, the level is now complete. By activating the air pump, however, you'll also activate an elevator. You can now use the hyena to look for the rest of the Power Cells and get the trophy.

Of course, if you're getting everything in the level, you'll have to go underwater for one of the Power Cells, which means you'll have to play as the piranha. A jumps, while B does the bite attack. You'll need to hit a switch underwater to open up the door to the teleporter. The last Power Cell will be near the teleporter, so make sure you grab it before you leave.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 17 of 32

They definitely bring up the difficulty with these shell suit levels, huh?

First | Previous | Next | End

Walrace 64

Walrace 64 is the second level where you earn a piece of EVO's shell suit, and this time, you're going to earn EVO's torso. The penguins have turned it into a racing trophy, and you'll have to race two other walruses in order to get it.

Going forward from where you start takes you to a camera. This will show you the course. The red balls with the yellow arrows are the turbo boosts, and you'll need to hit as many of those as possible...except the one at the end. This one will cause you to lose control before you finish a lap.

There are also ramps. There is one in the water before one leading out of the water onto dry land. Feel free to skip that one to maintain control. If you can't get the turbo boost after that, hold A to use the walrus' own turbo to go up the next ramp.

The camera keeps slowly tilting back and forth, but it won't be that much of a hindrance. It is rather awkward watching the footage back, though.

You'll want to stay close to the orange walrus, as that one will constantly take the lead over the green one. Also, you want to stay away from the walls as much as possible. Hitting the walls costs you speed and time, and if you're not careful, the lead. You'll need to race well in order to place first.

When you complete three laps in first place, the penguins will give you the torso. It will be near the penguins near the start, so head there and grab the torso, then turn around and enter the igloo to exit. If you place less than first, you can either wait for the level to kick you out before trying again, or retrying the zone. Just remember that retrying also removes also your score like dying does.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 16 of 32

For the final regular level of the ice world, the developers saved the best for last.

Something Fishy

In this level, you're going to be swimming around a lot. You'll need to free the fish, and you'll also need to hit the switch to open the Big Door if you want to activate the exit teleporter.

You'll start out as a fish just like the one from the first level of the ice world. There are some things that we need to do in order to complete the two tasks given to us as well as complete the level entirely.

Shortly after the start, there is a trench you can swim down into where there are some rings. You'll need to swim into all of them and do it really, really quickly before the rings re-spawn, and by doing that, For best results, you'll want to mash the A button really quickly to ensure speed as well as control. You'll get a message telling you that you hit all the rings before the trophy shows up. The trophy will be above the surface of the water, and you'll need to get the walrus later in the level and swim around the perimeter of the level to find and collect it.

You also need to free the fish. The fish will be in glass tanks that can be opened with a nearby switch. One is near the giant skull. Another one is near the giant treasure chest, A third one is past the wall that you need to raise the water level for in order to jump over it. Make sure you hold Up on the Control Stick while double tapping B near the top of the wall to ensure that you don't land on the top of the wall on the way over, because there is no energy to pick up here. If you lose any health in this level, you're not getting it back. A fourth one is above the wall with the number "100" on it to dictate the current water level, and you'll need to raise the water level to jump over this one much like you did that other wall. By freeing all four fish, you'll complete one of the mission objectives.

Speaking of the giant treasure chest, you need a key to open it. The key will be in the igloo near the jelly fish that you can find past the wall with the number "100" printed on it (which is timestamped for your convenience in the Power Cells section), and it is shaped like a fish instead of an actual key. The reward? The four Power Cells that can't be found out in the open.

There is a switch by itself on a column, and above it is a walrus. Swim into the switch to drop a mine on the surface of the water, then move the mine with the Control Stick to hit the walrus. This is the only way to defeat the walrus, and by doing so, you can take control of it and move on the surface of the water to collect a few things.

Near the giant treasure chest is a valve on the floor. Swimming into it lets you lower the water level, and swimming into it a second time lets you raise the water level to be higher than normal. From there, you'll be able to switch between the lower water level and the higher water level. You'll need the higher water level to get one of the fish that you need to free (which also has two Power Cells near it, timestamped in the Power Cells section for your convenience).

There is a big metal door at ground level in the maze, but in order to open it, you'll need to lower the water level so that the area near it is dry, and you'll also need to play as the walrus. There is a polar bear tank on the other side, as well as another one on the ramp. You'll need to take them both out the walrus; using one polar bear tank to get rid of the other is a lot harder and will get you killed. Once both polar bear tanks are defeated, take control of one, as it is much easier to go up the ramp leading up to the switch with a polar bear tank than as the walrus. The switch for the Big Door behind the jelly fish and the igloo and access to the exit teleporter on the other side will be at the top. Hit the switch to open the Big Door so you can get out of the level. From here, you'll want to take control of the fish again, raise the water level all the way up again at the valve near the treasure chest, then get to the wall with the number "100" and jump over it one more time to finish the level.

Be ready to fly around and move to avoid getting killed in this stage while you're destroying everything. There's just enough energy, but only just enough.

Hoppa Choppa

Some snow bunnies are being attacked by huskies, and they have sent a distress signal. You'll need to not only defeat all the huskies and save the bunnies, but you'll also need to destroy all of the turrets that will be firing at you along the way.

You start out as a penguin. Make your way down the path behind the teleporter, then float to the Penguin King and take control of him. As the Penguin King, jetpack over the ice wall to meet the snow bunnies. From here, you'll need to avoid the snow huskies, as you won't be able to fight them as the Penguin King. Instead, continue down the path and avoid not just the huskies, but the turrets. There will be a room to the left that is easy to miss, and when you enter it, you'll find a switch that activates the turrets, making them finally fire upon you. The flying snow bunnies will take care of a few, but for the rest, you're on your own. There will be some steps you'll need to jetpack up with the Penguin King to continue, but you'll need to avoid both the huskies and the turrets as soon as you're out of that room.

You'll eventually find one of the flying snow bunnies in a defeated state. Take control of it and bomb the turrets, making sure that you stay on the move as you continuously drop bombs on them. You'll also need to bomb the snow huskies, too. There is a switch near the metal door; you'll need to move into the switch to activate it and open the door. This will let you access the exit.

With the exit opened up, you'll need to go through the level again and bomb any turrets and huskies you see until they are all destroyed. Stay on the move as you bomb everything, and remember where all the energy is, as fighting on less than half health is not exactly recommended.

To get the trophy in this stage, you'll need to destroy all five of the snow bunnies near the exit teleporter. That's it. It'll show up on the nearby hill at the wall. (If you destroy any other bunnies, Dan will not be happy with you.)

Two of the Power Cells are at the top of lights coming from the cave ceilings. You cannot reach them with the flying snow bunny; instead, you'll need to use the Penguin King to get them as he does not have a limit to how high he can go. The small circular shadows on the ground will tell you where you need to fly.

Compared to other levels, it will take a bit of effort to get all the power cells as well as the trophy.

Pinball Blizzard

Something is jamming the signal to the teleporter, and in order to counter this something, we need to counter it with...music. We need to collect the silver notes, then play the song on a giant keyboard.

You start off as the ski husky. Take out the penguin king and the lackeys first. You'll need them soon. Next, you'll need to take out the polar bears, who will wake up when you get close enough to them. They will hit you with an earthquake attack if they see you. You only need to defeat one of them, but it's better to defeat all of them. In order to get them to wake up, however, you need to be aware of where they are looking and then be in their field of vision in order to get them to wake up and shake the ground - and decimate your health - with a somersault. Thankfully, if you're not near them, not only will they not attack, but they also leave you alone.

The snowballs near the polar bears contain Power Cells; make sure you destroy them and collect them all.

Once you take care of the polar bear problem (which can take a while), you'll see a moving platform nearby. Jump on it with the A button as the polar bear by pressing it once to jump and again to do the jump-thump attack that gives you a little more height so you can get on the platform, then press B to hide and hold the button down so that you can smash into the ice cubes nearby.

There are penguins past this point. Do not kill them. Leave them alone. This will be important for later.

After getting the two Power Cells near the platform, take control of the Penguin king. The King Penguin is much like the King Rat, except you can jump instead of drop mines. Holding down A will allow you to use a jetpack that will take you upwards for a short distance, which will prove useful. Get up the nearby platforms for two Power Cells and a silver note. You'll need the silver notes, so pick them up. The ones you'll need are on the platforms near the penguin king, the platforms afterwards, and the chasm near the polar bear platform. You'll also see a penguin. If you run into the penguin, he will produce a musical note. Once again, do not hurt the penguins. You will need them later.

There are six penguins in all, and the more you run into and touch, the more notes they play when you touch one. They play a melody, and you'll need to play and remember that melody. They will be on the penguin king platforms, the platforms afterwards, the Power Cell platform near the polar bear platform, the chasm near the polar bear platform, near the piano, and at the column underneath the piano.

Exploring past the polar bear platform takes you to the piano. There are five black keys and eight white keys. The piano will play notes, which are different every time you play the stage, and the keys you need to hit will light up pink. If you mess up on the current pattern, you start over on the current pattern and keep doing it until you get it right. As you get the patterns correctly, you'll reveal more floating platforms. After playing six notes in sequence, you'll reveal all the platforms and open a path to the top where the teleporter is and you'll also activate the recorder.

When you find all six penguins and reveal all six notes by touching each one, you'll get a pattern that you need to play on the keyboard. Unlike the platform puzzle, it's the same sequence every time. You'll also need to complete the platform puzzle from earlier and activate the recorder. The X button clears the recorded pattern, the red circle is the record button, and the green triangle is the play button. Move into a button to make it perform its respective action. Record, then hit the following white keys: 5, 6, 4, 8, 1, 4. (All numbers are from the left side of the keyboard to the right.) Hit the play button to play the sequence, and you'll cause the six penguins to summon a seventh one in a UFO to produce the trophy. If you killed any of the penguins before doing this, not only will you not get the full pattern, but you will not get the trophy. This is why the penguins should be spared. The trophy will be at the top of the huge platform after the ones near where you found the King Penguin. You'll need to boost jump onto a speaker in order to get to the top, then grab the trophy.

From here, head back to the piano and jump on the platforms you summoned to get to the teleporter. As you jump from platform to platform, each one will play the notes you played on the piano in order to get them to show up in the first place, in sequence. Nice touch.

First | Previous | Next | End

Penguin Playpen

Not only has a stinky seagull laughed at the ship's crash landing and needs to be knocked down a peg or two, but the penguins have built a statue on top of the exit that needs to be destroyed if you want to get out of here.

You'll start as the penguin. The seagull will fly away, and if you're quick, you can get a shot on it with your snowballs. You'll meet the seagull again eventually.

From here, get in the water and defeat the three fish in the water nearby. If you destroy all three of them, you'll get the king penguin trophy.

To get the Power Cells in this watery area, you'll need to take control of one of the fish, use the Control Stick - which changes your altitude in the water with Up and Down - to get to the surface, then leap out with B. You can only leap out at the surface of the water, and in order to move and steer left and right with the Control Stick, you'll need to continuously hold the A button for a speed boost. Believe it or not, Skill A and Skill B are the opposite of what they're supposed to be.

Do not land on dry land as the cod. You will lose health at an alarming rate, and getting back in the water will not replenish it.

The land mass where the fish are has a Power Cell and a walrus. Take control of the walrus and push the ice block in the water into the gab near the fence at the beginning, then take control of the penguin again, jump the fence, jump on the ice block, and then jump to the other side. Remember that as the walrus, you can move on the surface of the water with just the Control Stick without having to use the speed boost.

Once you're on the other side as the penguin, you'll see two other penguins who say "I love you!" before walking off onto the slope. At the bottom is a polar bear tank that can drop bombs and shoot at you. Do not fight it as the penguin; you will get destroyed. Instead, get to the lift on the other side and take it upwards. Near the trees is a husky on skis that can shoot homing missiles at you. Go down the nearby slope and get back on the lift; this will lure the ski husky down to where the polar bear tank is and cause both of them to fight each other. Take the lift again to avoid them both, then watch the carnage from above.

The husky may get some shots on the two penguins below, but it will eventually tangle with the polar bear tank and get destroyed, as the polar bear tank can take a bit more damage than the ski husky. Take control of the ski husky once it goes down, then destroy the polar bear tank from a distance.

Before taking control of the polar bear tank, keep playing as the ski husky and go back to the top of the lift. As you explore, keep in mind that you can walk forward with the ski husky by holding forward on the Control Stick. There is an ice bridge that you'll need to cross, and if you cross it, you will have to tangle with the seagull. Shoot at it when it gets low enough to attack you when you get close enough, and try not to fall off the ice bridge if you're using that as a means of staying away from the seagull. That will do it for the seagull and one of your

Once you get the seagull, take control of it and fly around in the area where you found it. If you defeated all three fish earlier, you'll get the gold penguin king trophy at one of the edges. As the seagull, you can keep pressing A to fly around the level, collect the remaining Power Cells, and see where you need to go.

The gap near the ramp on the way to the seagull leads to the penguin statue. You'll need to go down here as the husky, take out the nearby penguin, place the penguin on one of the switches, place two more penguins on two more switches, then place the seagull on a fourth switch to melt the statue and open up the exit teleporter.

If you know what to do here, you can easily complete this level quickly.

Ice 'n' Easy Does It

Dan needs more information about the space station, and from that, you'll need the high mental energy build-up from the preserved, decapitated heads of the professors lying around in this area. (Don't ask how this works.)

You start out as a husky, and there will be three rabbits ahead of you. You only need to take out one of them and take it over, and once one goes down, quickly take control of it so they stop attacking you. Amazingly, you can't attack them and they can't attack you when you're a rabbit, so leave them alone.

There are two professor heads behind where you start. You'll be getting them later.

For now, go up the ice platforms. After hopping a gap, you'll end up in a more vast area with an igloo. This is where things start getting interesting. Before you go over there, though, go further to the right for one of the professors' heads. You'll have to backtrack to get back to where you were to enter the bigger area, but that will get one of the heads out of the way.

Once you're in the igloo area, you'll have to deal with three walruses with skis for legs and hovercraft engines at the rear. They can also fire missiles. If you fight them now, you will get decimated. Instead, head over to the igloo. Nearby will be a rabbit encased in ice. Use your thump attack with the B button near the ice cube to break it. This bunny will have a helicopter rotor on its head. Take control of it. You'll be able to fly by holding A and drop bombs by pressing B. Stay directly on top of the walruses and drop bombs on them, and watch out for the missiles. You only need to destroy one to complete the level, but if you destroy all three, you'll get a trophy for it. It will appear near the igloo.

As the heli-rabbit, do not run into walls while flying. You will take damage. Fly back to the start and go to the area over on the other end of the bottomless pit for a second head.

Head back to the igloo area and take control of a walrus. There is an area with a slope, a small pool of water and a ramp. The walrus has a turbo boost that can be used by holding A, and can fire homing missiles by holding B. You'll need to hold A to get moving, but once you're moving, you can hold Up and then steer with the Control Stick. You can also move more freely in this same manner while on the surface of any sort of water. Just remember that the walrus can be a tad hard to steer and that it can slide around if you're not careful. For best results, tap the A button; you'll preserve your turbo boost this way.

Boost up the ramp to get to another Power Cell and the third head. You'll now be able to get to the exit teleporter in the igloo and complete the level.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 11 of 32

In this entry, we get a change of pace from the Europe levels and head into the land of ice and snow. Things start off simpler now, but they'll get tougher later.

First | Previous | Next | End

Snow Joke

Welcome to the ice levels! For your first mission in the cold, you'll be switching on a snow blower to bring the snow back, switching on a big computer thing, and getting a husky for Dan.

You'll start out as EVO's chip and move automatically towards a downed penguin to take control of it. As the penguin, you can jump and throw snowballs with A and B respectively, and if you hold down A, the penguin can float much like the sheep with a tiny parasol over its head.

The other penguin that soon shows up will throw snowballs back at you if you attack it enough, but if you get close enough to the edge of the hill, the husky will come at you. It is possible to trap near the Power Cell at the beginning so that it can't climb up towards you. From there, you can let loose with the snowballs and beat it up until you can take control of the husky, completing one of the mission objectives right out of the gate. The husky can jump and bite with A and B respectively.

Take control of the husky and go down the icy slide. In case you miss the Power Cell here, you'll be able to go back. Chase after the nearby husky from behind and take it down with the bite attack, then explore the nearby area where the pipes are and take out the penguins.

There is a switch in one of the dead ends that leads to a reflective wall showing off the vast expanse of space; toggling it will switch the time of day from day to night. This will summon up a red platform nearby that you'll need for later. You're done here, so go down the area with the metalllic floor and hit the switch to turn on the snow blower to bring the snow back and give yourself a way out of that area. That's two missions down.

There is a big wall that looks like a switchboard with lights that has a switch on it. Hit the switch to turn on the big computer thingy. It only activates the secondary engines, but you can now get to the exit teleporter in the center of the level.

Keep exploring and you'll find a snow hare. The snow hare jumps with A, which must be held to ensure movement, and performs a damage-causing, earthquaking stomp with B that hurts anything in front of it. You'll need this snow hare to get the Power Cells as the trophy symbolized by a golden snow machine pipe, as this is the only animal that can do it. To get the trophy, you'll need to jump on the glowing platform that shows up only at night and ride it to the stop of the stage. Hold A to jump onto the slope, then guide yourself with the Control Stick to get on the platforms. If you start falling away from the platforms, hold A and hold the Control Stick towards the platforms to save yourself. You'll find the trophy here. From here, you can hope across some platforms to get to the exit teleporter.

...and now for something completely different.

First | Previous | Next | End

Give A Dog A Bonus

Compared to the other levels, this one is a bit different. Instead of completing puzzles to collect Power Cells and make it to the exit, all while trying to survive, you're doing something different entirely to get a piece of EVO's robot body back.

For the EuroEden level, you'll be playing as a dog plane. You'll need to fly through all of the blue hoops to start this mission off. The yellow hoops containing the red balls with the air give you a brief speed boost, which you're better off avoiding so you don't lose control of the plane. Watch out for bombs and missiles that fly at you as you get close to flying through all the rings. Use the Control Stick to ascend, descend and turn. A simultaneously fires lasers and drops bombs, while B performs a turn-around that quickly turns you around towards the other direction.

You'll then have to face a slew of other dog planes. The trick to doing this while losing as little energy as possible is to keep holding A, staying higher than the other planes, and constantly moving in a circle, going straight only to line yourself up with another dog plane. After shooting down enough dog planes, you'll get the message "BATTERY CHARGER ON LINE" before a bunch of rocket foxes come after you.

You'll want to go to an area with a red wall with moving lines. Fly through it to get your health refilled. Keep in mind that you can only stay in the battery charger area for so long before you stop getting energy and the area no longer heals you, so try not to rely on it too much. From there, you'll want to fight the rocket foxes. Just like with the dog planes, keep on firing and moving in a circle, and stay higher than your target, while flying straight ahead only to shoot down a target. The rocket foxes also fire missiles, and you'll want to keep from flying into those, too.

After defeating enough enemies, you'll get the message "Hey! There's your torso! Go get it!" When that happens, the game will show you where the torso is. Go straight for the torso and fly into it to get EVO's torso back. Once you do that, the stage is over.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 9 of 32

This is the last regular level of "EuroEden," and it can be a quick one if you know what to do.

First | Previous | Next | End

Rat-o-Matic

Rat-o-Matic is the last regular level in the Europe/grass set, which the mission brief calls "EuroEden." You'll need to destroy the titular Rat-o-Matic machine so that no more mice get turned into rats, and you'll also need to kill the fox family that is on the premises.

You'll start off as the King Rat. Go down the hall and move towards the four rats that are in the area to get them to follow you. You'll want to go outside with the four rats and take on the fox family. Keep sicking the smaller rats on the foxes and keep moving around in a circle while using your stink attack. The rats will do the work, but the stink attack will do damage if the foxes come your way.

To get the rat trophy, you'll need to move one of the red canisters near the flaming box with the trophy on it over to the box with the King Rat, then use a regular rat to blow the canister up with mines so that sparkles come out of it and put the flames out before the canister explodes. You'll then need to take control of a fox and go up to the ramp opposite where the trophy is, go up the ramp and press A before you fall to speed forward in mid-air and land on the box to get the trophy. You'll need to do this again back at the start to get to the top of the table where a switch is in order to unlock a nearby door.

You'll then need to find a room with a racing mouse, a monitor and a camera. The racing mouse will try to attack you, so attack it first and take it out. You'll need the mouse now. Hit the switch on the nearby machine, then move onto the red circle in the empty cell before the timer reaches zero. You'll be sucked into the piping and taken into the Rat-o-Matic. You'll need a lot of health to get through this. Get under the electricity to move past it, watch out for the crusher, hit the switch on the other side, speed through the fire with the turbo boost so you don't get burned. At the other side is a rat; don't attack it. Instead, have it come after you and lay mines that will destroy the nearby computer terminals. This will destroy the Rat-o-Matic and free all of the mice in the cages.

It is possible to suck one of the other mice into the Rat-o-Matic, then use the camera to get a guided tour of the machine. Don't do this. If you do, you won't be able to get all of the Power Cells.

Follow the mice outside, and you'll be thanked for freeing them before being led to the exit, which is on top of a bunch of hills nearby. As they enter the exit, they will leave Power Cells behind. If you rescued all five mice, you'll get all of the last five Power Cells. Collect them, then go into the exit with them.

To get past the wall blocking the exit, hit the switch in the corridor to the right of where you enter to lower the wall, then speed your way to the left corridor. If you're fast enough, you'll get to the end before the wall rises back up. For best results, back into the switch backwards to hit it, then go forwards and use your turbo boost sparingly to speed your way to the exit. Once the wall rises up, you'll have no choice but to take the transporter and exit the level, so if you need to get the trophy and the other ten Power Cells, you'll want to get those first before even attempting this. Thankfully, I managed to do everything possible before leaving.

PrinceWatercress plays Space Station Silicon Valley - Part 8 of 32

This and the next level will be along the toughest in the Europe/grassland section. Get ready to fight your way through this level.

First | Previous | Next | End

Stinky Sewers

You'll be going through the sewers for this one. You'll be playing as a rat for the majority of this level. You'll need to find a keycard to access the main tunnels, reactivate the Big Taps (which are big water taps) and gain access to the King Rat's hole. From here, you're going to have to defeat the Rat King.

You'll start off not as the rat, but as the racing dog. You'll need to find your way through the sewers and find and defeat a rat while trying to find out how to complete the objectives for this level.

The steaming brown triangles are poop. Believe it or not, these things will come into play later.

Once you find a rat, you'll be able to go into some of the more narrow passageways. You'll have to fight some more rats to get them out of your way. Use your bite attack and move in as they move around in circle, and watch out for their mines. You'll eventually find a much more open area with a racing fox. You'll need to race around the room and drop mines as the fox chases after you in order to destroy it. If you need health, eat the steaming poop in the room. Just walk into it with the rat and use your bite attack to eat it. Believe it or not, if you find all the poop and eat it, you'll reveal the trophy, which will be in a dead end the near the start.

From here, you'll need to take control of the fox and make your way back to the watery maze at the beginning of the level. Believe ir or not, there are areas that you can reach as the fox or the rat that you could not reach with the racing dog. There is a crawlspace near two barrels of toxic waste that you need to go through. Take out the rats, then approach the door to open it and find a dead scientist. Move up to him to find the keycard. This will allow you to open the metal door near the beginning of the stage.

Once you're past that door, you'll have to fight some more rats. Fighting the rats is easier with the fox, since the sweep attack does not trigger the bombs and you can do a good bit of damage with it. On the other hand, it's much easier to get close to another rat and defeat it easily with a bite attack as the rat. Keep your options open and pick your poison. After getting past the rat, use the mines from the rat to blow up the line of barrels of toxic waste, and stay away from the explosions!

There is an area full of water after this, but you don't want to go in there yet. Instead, look for and find a water valve. Run into it to turn on one of the Big Taps and add more water to the nearby pool of water. Go in the water, and you'll find a normal dog. Switch to the dog, and push the barrel in the water to create a path to the other side of the pool, where you can find a racing dog.

Take control of the fox again and go back to the side of the pool that you were just in. There is a narrow corridor leading into another maze that you'll need to get through to reach the Rat King. The colors will change as you go through the maze, and if you see a lot of yellow and green, you'll know that you're nearly there.

To beat the Rat King, you'll want to play as the fox and you'll want to come in with as much energy as you can muster. The Rat King will send smaller rats at you when it blows its trumpet. You'll want to stay near the entrance to the Rat King's chamber, attack the rats when they get near, and move out in such a way that you lose as little energy as possible. There are two crates' worth of energy that you may have to rush into the room to get; if you have to rely on it, make sure that the energy does not fly towards the wall, as it can get stuck in the wall and become unobtainable.

Once you beat all of the rats, take control of one and chase after the Rat King. The Rat King will have no means of offense other than a stink cloud that only affects other animals, and he won't be able to send any other minions at you. Once you've beaten this level, you're pretty much done. All you have to do is find the door near the start that had the symbol of a crown near it and approach it as the Rat King to open it. You can then exit the level.
