HCBailly plays Final Fantasy III - Part 15 of 44

In this entry, we have to save the Eldest Tree and saving the Living Forest!

Head to the Living Forest before you head to Tokkle. You'll be talk to some faeries. One of them will tell you that Hyne's weak point change ability is called "WallChange."  You'll also find out that the Eldest Tree has been cursed, carved into a castle and is now floating around the desert near Tokkle thanks to Hyne, an Argass Castle wizard. If the Eldest Tree doesn't return, the Living Forest will die.

Head back to Tokkle.

When you enter the town, you'll be ambused and kidnapped by some of Hyne's soldiers, and locked up to be made into potential slaves.

Talk around in the prison cell. You'll find out that Hyne is hiding the King's somewhere, and that Hyne is the King's adviser. When the earthquake hit, Hyne was possessed by an evil power.

We could chew our way out of this tree castle, or we can talk to the guy with the red armor at the left wall. He gives us eight LuckMallets - four on the way in and four on the way out, which allows you to become tiny and go through the hole in the upper-left corner of the cell at the north wall. This takes you to the second floor.

The Lamia and Pharaohs can Confuse you (Glare and physical attacks, respectively). Press Down when targeting the Pharaohs with a Fire spell to target all the Pharaohs at once.

Hit up the secret passage on the left on the second floor to get a FenixDown, then you'll see three doors. They all lead to a lot of money.

The King's Sword is the Knight's most powerful sword for now, so equip it on the Knight.

The door on the fifth floor leads to Hyne. Change one of your party members to a Scholar, then go in and talk to Hyne to trigger the boss battle with him.

Use the Scholar's Scan on Hyne to discover his elemental weakness (which Hyne will change often), and hit him with the powerful spells of that element. If you have any Zeus's Rage items and he switches to Lightning, blow him away with those. Be careful, as you don't want Hyne to change weaknesses while you've got your all-out assault on him ready.

When you beat Hyne, the Eldest Tree will thank you. Hyne's captives will be returned to Argass, and the Eldest Tree will finally return to the Living Forest. Your party will also return to the Living Forest, and you'll receive the Wind Fang from the Eldest Tree. Unfortunately, no one may enter the Living Forest for 1000 years until the Eldest Tree regains its strength, so this area will be sealed off after you leave.
