HCBailly plays Final Fantasy III - Part 10 of 44

We've got what we need. It's time to tackle the Tower of Owen...

To the north of Castle Argass is the Tower of Owen. Near it is a whirlpool we can't move past just yet.

Head back to the Argass Castle peninsula and go north. There is a mountain passage to the west halfway between Argass and the Tower of Owen. Take it and take the south path at the crossroads to enter the Gurgan Valley.

When you enter this chamber, you'll find a bunch of bald men sitting near crystal balls. They'll tell you to find the Fire, Water and Earth Crystals and gain their powers, while finding a way to break the seal on them that was made by the Earth Crystal. The Fire Crystal is in the Valley of the Dwarves. Oh, and the Living Forest is also accessible at this point in the game.

You'll also learn that when the tower emits a red flame, it is about to fall and a man who will alter fate shall awaken. The earthquake is a sign of things to come, as the tremors that pulled the Crystals into the earth and made all the monsters appear is nothing compared to the Darkness.

Go down the stairs, and talk to the man in teh center of the room. He gives you the Toad spell to use in the Tower of Owen, and tells Desh that his destiny awaits.

The Pygmans can cast Fire and can also Blind you.

There is a small, cross shaped chamber with a hole in the floor in the center of the entry level. The only way to go down there is to cast Toad on your entire party and turn everyone into Toads.

Once you enter the first floor, turn everyone back to normal again with Toad. You'll be warned by a mysterious force that the Tower of Owen will be your grave, and if you talk to Desh, he'll tell you that he feels like he's been here before.

The PutiMages can Mute you. Hope you have a lot of EchoHerbs handy.

MaidKiss (Maiden's Kiss) obviously cures the Toad status ailment much like in the previous games.

As you traverse the fourth floor, Desh will suddenly remember that he is one of the Ancients as the mysterious entity laughs at you.

The Tyrving Sword is a powerful weapon for a Red Mage, assuming you have one in your party.

The fifth floor may seem to be a dead end, but if you talk to Desh, he'll tell you there is a switch in the wall eight steps from the left. Face the north wall in that position and press A to activate the switch and access more of the tower.

The Salamand Sword is a fire-elemental sword for the Fighter, If you didn't purchase the Flame Mail at the Ancients' Village, you can get it for free on the ninth floor.

You'll meet Medusa at the top floor...
