HCBailly plays Final Fantasy III - Part 9 of 44

We've got control of the seas again! Now it's time to find out what we can do in the rest of the world!

Now that you're done in the Nepto Shrine, return everyone to normal size and change your classes and whatnot back to what they were. If you have a Fighter, equip the armor and sword you just found on him. The Serpent Sword is strong against Water monsters.

Get in the boat, and go just southwest of the Nepto Shrine. You'll find the village of Tokkle.

If you talk to people around here, they'll think you're thieves looking to loot and kill, and they'll run away.

Go to the house across from the entrance, and talk to the kid. He'll run into the fireplace. Go inside and talk to him, and his mother will protect him only to figure out you're somebody else. Turns out there have been soldiers attacking the village, and they've been looting and killing in this village. Turns out these soldiers wear the crest of Argass, and they've taken this woman's husband into the desert.

If you talk to Desh at this point, he'll tell you that the king of Argass knows the secret of airships (like Cid told you), and that there is a tribe of blind, bald old fortune-telling men known as the Gurgans who live in a valley somewhere.

In a nook in the lower-left corner of the village is the Gods' Wine, which will be useful later. It's similar to the Baccus Wine from the last game, but casts Haste instead of Berserk, which isn't in this game. Just to the north of that in another nook is the Great Bow.

On the right side of the village, you can find the Freezing Staff, which casts Ice2 when used in battle. In the upper-left corner of the village is a Lamia Scale.

To the very north is the Elder's House. The Elder will tell you that Argass's forces have plundered this area and brought it to the state it's in. One of the elderly women here will tell you that there are weapons hidden in the fireplace that you can use...so why not get them? You'll find a 3-Part Nunchuk (a nunchaku with three grips and two chains) in a pot, as well as a Kenpo Robe and a FenixDown.

You're done here, so head west towards the Ancients' Village. There is an isolated Chocobo Forest just to the east of this place. If you enter this place, press A at the trees in the center and use a Carrot on it, the fat Chocobo will appear.

A kid just north of the entrance says that he will give you a prize if you go around the continent on a Chocobo. Believe it or not, you can actually do this, and when you talk to the kid again after this, you'll get a Midget Bread. Thanks, I wanted to waste my time for something better than this, especially when I can get the Sight spell here.

The inn here has an Item Shop. Buy a good amount of EchoHerbs, since there will be enemies later on that will cast the Mute status ailment on your party members on the road ahead. Talking around will give you info no the Chocobo Island as well as the fact that you're on a floating continent, with its power to float provided by the Tower of Owen.

You'll also learn that there were four Dark Warriors who saved the world from the Flood of Light. I guess having too much of the Power of Light is a bad thing, as the Ancients used Crystals to manipulate the power of Light only to find out it was far too powerful for human hands. Four warriors from the Dark World pushed back the Flood of Light, but the Ancients were decimated, with the survivors moving to their own village.

At the weapons shop (left of the Inn), get the Serpent Sword. At the magic shop (next to the weapons shop), get Sight (see the World Map), Exit (lets you escape out of dungeons easily) and Wash (cures the Blindness status ailment). At the armor shop (right side of the village), get a Headband for your Monk if you have one.

Now it's time to head to Castle Argass. It's north of Tokkle, but a little bit to the west. It'll be on a peninsula.

When you go up the second flight of stairs, go to the torch on the far right and press A to open a secret passage to the right. This leads to a hidden staircase and another secret passage that leads to 3000 Gil. Take the new staircase you just found for even more Gil! The staircase leading up just leads to locked towers, so head back to the main path, head to the wall and press A on the north wall to open the passage back up and head back up the main path.

The wall to the right of the huge table has another secret passage. Here you can find a BombShard, a SouthWind and a Paralyzer. Save these things for later, because you're definitely going to need them at a specific point. Go ahead and head out with Exit.
