angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 22 of 41

We take on another speedway course, then we do the long, long trek that is Lost Fleet. This level will take a while.

Honey Speedway

Go through the honeycombs first, flame the beehives, defeat the bees and save the boats for last.

You're opponents in the race are the bumblebees. I'm serious. Sparx uses the wrong form of "your/you're" in this sentence. Also, this one is significantly easier, especially when you know where all the boosters are. The rockets don't seem like they do much, but they do slow the other bees down.

It should also be noted that the bumblebees are all different colors here, so you can tell where you're placed on the fly. (Okay, that unintentional pun just kinda slipped in.)

You'll find Hunter on the ground as you go through the beehives. (You don't actually have to flame them. Just go right through them.) He'll be right under the last one. This time around, you'll have to ride a boat on the figure eight made out of honey, and if you hit too many obstacles, the giant sheep UFO will abduct Hunter. When the UFO crashes into the honey, you've done it. This one is harder than the other two Hunter challenges.

Lost Fleet

The fodder are hermit crabs.

For this one, you'll have to take down all the ghosts so you can take Crazy Ed through the level.

The ghosts, believe it or not, are baby Rhynocs hiding under a sheet that will throw rocks at you when you expose them. Hit them again to get rid of them.

The crabs can dash for you, which is pretty interesting considering that their character model is the same as the last game.

Use the cannons to get rid of the vultures flying around.

You'll have to be invincible to swim in the water here, and you'll have to reach the end to get the Super Shield power-up.

I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING FOR THE SECOND INTERMISSION SO HERE'S KEVIN OWENS SCREAMING

WOO! YEAH! CHAMPION! Yay. YEAH!

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 21 of 41

Well, at least Cat Hockey isn't as inhumane as, say, smashing seals with your club as Bentley.

Frozen Altars

Get on the rooftops through the door the door that opens after you beat the level to make your way to a Dragon Egg. There will also be another one on an island if you can make it all the way to the rooftops at the beginning of the level.

Also, you'll have to continually charge jump from one of the buildings to the other to get to the rest of the rooftops where the last of the unreachable gems are.

Challenge Portals

Frozen Altars

You'll see Moneybags at the end. Give him 800 gems to open up another door which leads to a Challenge Portal (and also see Moneybags act genuinely evil). You'll play a game of Cat Hockey in the rink inside. Use the freeze flame to freeze the cats, and keep using it to push the cats into your own goal, which is the blue one. First person to score five cats wins. You'll get a Dragon Egg for your efforts.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 20 of 41

Wait, why are we back in Midday Gardens? Well, you're about to find out.

Midday Gardens

Head back to Bamboo Terrace. There's a loose end we need to tie up.

Bamboo Terrace

Besides finding an enemy angryponcho didn't kill earlier (amazingly, I never even noticed it), there's also a Bentley portal here!

Anyway, in this area, Bentley takes a walk to his favorite hill with his brother Bartholomew. Bart's seen some Rhynocs walk to the top of said hill, which really isn't surprising since the Rhynocs ruin everything.

The panda rocks can be broken with your club. That's nice, as the Rhynocs send some coming your way. Also, the first corner on the way up to the top of the hill spawns TNT barrels from an unknown source. Use the deflect spin to set them off without taking damage.

The Dragon Egg is at the top. This is a pretty easy area, but it's pretty fun.

Evening Lake

Alright, time to head back.

Frozen Altars

The fodder here looks like purple kiwis. It's hard to tell.

When you enter this level, you'll meet the Ice Fairies...or one of them, anyway. She looks pretty much like a blue Zoe, and she gives you a freeze flame power-up that lasts as long as you're here.

Shortly after the start, there's a duck named Alex who tells you about the building next to him, which houses a laser defense system. Go in to turn it on, then press Triangle to walk back out. Also, this is perhaps the weirdest voice since Rapunzel from Sunny Vista. I'm going to have to agree with angryponcho...he sounds like he belongs in a pornographic movie and his voice is borderline creepy because of it. I think it's because watching his mouth move makes it look and sound creepy.

Anyway, if you go inside, you can not only melt the snow wall to continue on, you can also fry all the enemies in the immediate vicinity as well.

The freeze flame works wonders on the big guys that you'd usually have to beat (as well as any enemy here in general, but it works best for the big ones). Just hit them with the flame, then ram them while they're a life-size ice cube. Yeah, they're done.

The smaller Rhynocs throw hot coals at you, but you can destroy their ammunition stock by simply charging into it.

The mini-mammoths are pretty quick. Hitting them with the freeze flame first is advisable.

The snowmen can easily be destroyed with the laser defense towers. You'll have to keep the laser trained on them to completely melt them and get their gems, but it's worth it to see them shrink in size in mere seconds.

Hitting Eustace with the freeze flame turns him into an ice block. I'm pretty sure that's the hint he was trying to imply with his voice of hot, hot sex.

Challenge Portals

Frozen Altars

It's another Bentley section. This time, you fight a Yeti. Bartholomew tells you to block his high punches and to hit low when he tries to block.

Square - quick jab
X - body blow
Circle - hook
Triangle - block high

Bentley blocks low automatically, so don't worry about that.

When you beat him the first time, you'll get an egg, but now Bartholomew's ball. This sets up a second fight. Beat him in three rounds or less to get another egg as well as the ball.

If it takes more than one round to finish him off in the second fight, you and the Yeti will both regain about a third of your life bar when you go back at it for another round.

If you pay close attention to what the Yeti is doing, you'll have a slightly easier time..

Skill Points

Frozen Altars

If you can finish off the Yeti in the second fight in two rounds or less, you'll get a Skill Point for your efforts.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 19 of 41

Alright, I'm over it. Let's get back to the game.

Evening Lake

The fodder here are frogs.

Well, this level is interesting. There's a ton of portals to other levels that are underwater (never saw that before), as well as a whale. Get in front of the whale, and it will eat you. From there, go ahead and head to the Dragon Egg hidden inside. To leave the whale, just go back the way you came in. The whale will burp you out.

A light blue breakable wall leads to another Dragon Egg.

Moneybags will have another creature to unlock for the cost of 1000 gems, but it's pretty nice. It happens to be a yeti, too. It's Bentley, and...he speaks like a damn lawyer. What. At least he whacks Moneybags with his club.

Bentley's Outpost

The fodder here are rabbits.

Bentley has to check on his young sibling Bartholomew before he can do anything for Spyro.

Bentley is a great joy to control. While he can't jump very high, he can destroy everything with his club with the Circle button. Pressing Square has him spin his club around to deflect hits and projectiles. The deflect can also help you get around, in ways such as deflecting a snowball from Bartholomew into a gong to break a stalactite to continue the level. You'll be doing that a couple of time to not only get through the level but also cause some mayhem.

You can break the metal boxes, translucent walls, totem poles, and of course enemies with the club.

Use the deflect attack to knock the snowballs the seals throw at you back at them.

You can move steel boxes just by moving into them. You can only push them where the trails in the snow on the ground are located.

Skill Points

Bentley's Outpost

There is a box you have to push off a cliff. Do that, and you'll break the box and get a Skill Point for your efforts.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 18 of 41

The game decides to freaking disappoint me right when it gets interesting. Everything gets explained at the end of the entry. The story of my life.

Spike's Arena

When you head to Evening Lake, you'll fight another boss: Spike. For this battle, Sgt. Byrd will be dropping ammo for you to use against Spike. Spike, however, can use it against you if he gets his hands on it. For the first wave, you'll have to charge the lava boulders into Spike and try not to get either smacked or shot. (Charging around the arena makes it easier for him to miss you.) After a few hits, he'll stomp the ground and cause the ground to break apart. This will cause lava jets to rise out of the ground in certain parts of the arena as a result.

Grab the red crystals and breathe fire at him. This will result in a one-time-only Superflame-like attack that will hit him. If he grabs one, he'll shoot a massive fire wave at you that you can easily glide across. When he's nearly dead, the red crystals are blue. Grab them, and they'll act like missiles when you use your flame attack. If he grabs a blue crystal, he'll perform an attack that acts like an energy beam that reaches all the way to the end of the arena and can slowly track you. If you keep charging around the arena, it won't be able to hit you. After those last three hits with the blue crystals, he's gone.

Evening Lake

Almost as if on cue, Bianca teleports to you when you arrive. She tells you that the Sorceress has set up a trap for you, and wants you to leave before she can actually spring it on you. This time, she's speaking in more of a "no, seriously, don't do this" tone than the authoritative commanding tone she used in the last two homeworlds. Something's up, because it sounds like she's an unwitting pawn in someone else's scheme.

Anyway, time to head back and get some more stuff done.

Midday Gardens

Head back to the Sparx Sign in the Midday Gardens homeworld. It's time for another bonus level with Sparx the Dragonfly!

Spider Town

All of the enemies here seem to be spiders. Also, the bigger ones shoot fiery ordinance all around them while standing in one place. They're easy to kill from a distance. Just don't get too close.

The keys turn off the laser beams. Yeah, explain that one.

The grey butterfly is a Super Shield. This lets you touch all enemies (and destroy them) without taking damage. You'll still have to turn any energy shields off with the corresponding floor switch, though.

The boss here is a giant spider that moves around randomly and spins around as he does so. The spinning attack makes it impervious to your attacks, so you'll have to wait for it to stop and then shoot it. If you hit it in the face right between the eyes, the baby spiders that it sends at you (in packs of eight!) will be destroyed at the same time, making power-ups unnecessary.

When you beat this level, you'll gain a new ability: hold down all four shoulder buttons to get Sparx to point towards a gem.

Wait.

You mean to tell me I have to beat half the fucking game just to fucking unlock this ability.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

No, seriously, if I wasn't at the library right now, I'd be destroying something in pure anger after finding this out, because I've actually never played the game before. I've played the second game, but not the first or third ones. Hey, at least my notes will help me with those games when I finally play them...but goddammit, why are you forcing me to go through half of the fucking game to unlock something that I was able to do at the very start of the second game? What were they thinking?!?

I hate the fact that I'm ending on this note, but goddammit. You were able to do it at the very beginning of the second game, but you can't do it in the third game until you beat the first two bosses...out of four. Gee, thanks. Makes my total domination of this game that much harder compared to the last one harder when I finally get to it. Don't get me wrong, I really love the game. But this just killed me.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 17 of 41

We finally complete the level, and this time the way we do it is rather interesting...

Enchanted Towers

There's a challenge portal here that has Sgt. Byrd's sign next to it. Why is it not in the Challenge Portal section, you ask? Because playing as Byrd here lets you play the entire Enchanted Towers level with Sgt. Byrd instead of Spyro instead of taking you to a stand-alone area within the level. You can basically fly anywhere around the level you want.

This basically allows you to get another Dragon Egg mission. Turns out, it's a very obvious reference to Skelos Badlands from the second game as well as one of the Orb missions from it - the caveman Ooga's friend has lost all his bones. Yep, it's the same guy with the same skeleton friend. Guess what? Those dark blue dragon-like dinosaurs you had to beat up to take the bones back from? They're here, too. Beat them up with Sgt. Byrd's artillery to get the bones back and send them all back to Ooga for another Dragon Egg and another dancing skeleton cutscene.

Challenge Portals

Enchanted Towers

Once you complete the level, you'll be able to activate a whirlwind that wasn't there before. With this whirlwind, you can explore more of the level and find another Challenge Portal. Here, you'll have to get Farley the wolf back to his master. To do that, you'll have to take the ball that his master threw down the hole to not only get Farley to follow you, but also to get Farley to trigger the pressure plate switches on the floor (which are just like the ones in Sunny Beach from the previous game). Some of the doors that are powered by these switches will involve two switches instead of one, where you stand on one and Farley stands on the other.

If Farley comes into contact with an enemy, he'll chase it around, keeping enemies from attacking you so you can hit them with ease.

Some of these switch puzzles have really interesting solutions.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 16 of 41

Well, at least the second skateboard area is much easier.

Enchanted Towers

The fodder here are sheep.

Anyway, you have to destroy a statue of the Sorceress and get rid of all the Rhynocs that are forcing the people here to build one.

The flying blue creatures have to be hit with the rocks that come out of the lava. No exceptions. If you walk towards one and try to flame it, it will just back away as quickly as you're coming towards it.

You'll also be dealing with Rhynocs riding on jackhammers as well as Rhynocs with mallets, and they're pretty quick. Be careful and be ready to flame the guys with the mallets and ram the jackhammer guys as soon as you see them.

There are three rockets near the statue. These will be used to destroy it.

Challenge Portals

Enchanted Towers

Once you destroy the Sorceress statue, you'll be able to find an opening below it that takes you to a Challenge Portal. This is the second Skateboard course of the game. This is basically Hunter giving you the tutorial for the skateboard levels. For the last lesson, you'll have to score 500 points on the giant ski ramp, which is really easy. This is the first of two Dragon Eggs here.

For the second Dragon Egg, you'll take on Hunter in a two-minutes-long freestyle competition. You simply have to score more points than Hunter before the time is over. If you can land some complex tricks early on, you should be able to pull this off quite easily. Really interesting strategy from NCS here: wait until the one-minute mark to start doing anything fancy, and Hunter's AI won't magically ramp up and try to keep up with your points total.

Skateboard Controls

X - Jump off a ramp.

Triangle - After jumping off a ramp, hold it down and press different directions on the Control Pad to do tricks. Do a spin off a blue half-pipe ramp for some 360's, 720's and more.

Skill Points

Enchanted Towers

You'll have to get 10,000 points on the skateboard course to get the Skill Point here.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 15 of 41

Well, here we are at the second speedway. Let's see what we can do at the race...whoa. Yeah, that difficulty spike is pretty noticeable.

Country Speedway

For the time attack, you'll obviously be going for the rings first. From there, immediately get on the track for all of the tractors and ram into them from the opposite direction. Take care of the goats, and destroy the planes last. This is an easy Dragon Egg.

The race against the bi-planes is a bit harder than the first one. You'll have to find out where all the rings and stars are, so you can use the rings to boost your speed and get an early leg up on all the guys. If you're in 3rd place at the end of the first lap, you're doing well...now catch up with the other guys and take the lead already!

The red stars are rockets that you can spit at the other racers. They also have homing capabilities, so don't fret if your aim isn't perfect.

One of the houses contains Hunter. Do the Time Attack again to find him. Once again, you'll be playing as Hunter, strapping on a jetpack and shooting down sheep saucers and cows with laser guns (which are ripped straight from Metropolis from the second game). Shoot 'em all down to get another Dragon Egg.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 14 of 41

We go through a rather wild goose chase to get one last egg in Spooky Swamp before taking on a brand new area!

Watch this video afterwards...it's part two! Now with haikus!

Bamboo Terrace

The fodder here are flies. At least, I think they're flies. Maybe they're some other type of bug with small wings. I dunno.

Well, the Rhynocs are making it hard for all the pandas here to harvest the bamboo needed to power the whirligig to Evening Lake, and they won't leave, so you'll have to take them out to both complete this area and open up more of it as you go along.

The cracked wall in the lake leads to four hidden extra lives. Nice.

The enemies here aren't anything you haven't seen before. They've just got different textures, that's all.

When you make it to the end, Sing Sing opens up the emergency drawbridges before heading back to Midday Gardens. This is good, because aside from more pick-ups, this allows you to chase down another thief to get a Dragon Egg. This is probably the hardest one to date, and the quickest way to do it is to keep up with him, make short hops up the stairs and cut corners only where absolutely necessary. The best place to tag the thief with a flame is ironically close to where you first meet him (that part before he turns sharply to the right to hit the emergency bridges).

Here's something interesting: there's a character section for a character we haven't gotten yet and won't be able to access until we reach Evening Lake...I guess. Some sort of Yeti character. This sounds promising...

If you go left from the Yeti door, you'll find the ? Vase. Yep, it's finally made a return appearance from the second game, and it works the same way. Flame one, find the next one, flame one, keep going until you reach the last one. You'll basically be working your way back to the start as you do this, and when you make it back to the start of the level, flame the last one to get some gems.

Challenge Portals

Spooky Swamp

The first guy takes the same path both times.

The second guy will take you to the last egg. His path won't really follow the path per se and he's noticeably faster, so be ready to memorize stuff.

There's a breakable wall near where the three egg cages are. It's the one made out of stone bricks, and if you kick it, you'll find some hidden gems. There are also two cracked walls where the headbashable (read: stompable) chests are. Use your high double jump that results from touching the ground and jumping again immediately to reach them. Finally, there's another one near the entrance/exit to the Sheila area. You'll find gems in all of these places, and it's pretty clear that at this point, Insomniac is getting a little more clever with where they're placing some of their pick-ups in this game compared to the last two.

Bamboo Terrace

For this one, you'll have to get the Supercharge, get on the boat and then torch all the Rhynocs as the panda workers climb up to their houses. Be careful not to either let one of the Rhynocs live or to accidentally hit one of the pandas, or you'll be starting over.

The last few Rhynocs come in pairs. If you can't get both of them while they're coming down, wait for one of them to come close to the pandas, at least. That way, if you only get one before they both come down, you'll still have a chance as you can nail the other while he's rearing back with that tiny parasol of his.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 13 of 41

In this entry, the water is instant pain. Almost reminds me of Jak and Daxter, even though Naughty Dog made that and not Insomniac.

After we beat Icy Peak, we get another cutscene where Bianca practices her magic. She turns a rabbit into a ferocious beast and nearly gets eaten alive until Hunter saves her. She tries to zap Spyro but all she does is create a butterfly that Sparx eats for her efforts. She then walks off.

Spooky Swamp

The fodder here are crawfish.

There will be a gator chasing a firefly around. Flame the gator, then talk to the firefly. Apparently, they all talk in haikus.

Across from Homer (the guy you talked to), there's a giant candle. These are tea lamps. Use your flame on it to light it. There are four in the level to light up, and lighting them up opens up a passage to a Challenge Portal.

The big, angry mosquitoes dart at you nose-first when you're close enough. Hit them with a flame when they do.

Don't fall into the water. If you do, there's a good chance that there might be a piranha nearby that will want to make you into its next meal immediately.

When you meet Moneybags to pay him the 500 gems needed to open the door, even he speaks in haikus.

One of the tea lamp houses has an opening which leads to a platform which leads to the treetops. Here you'll find one of the Dragon Eggs as well as the key for the Key Chest.

Challenge Portals

Spooky Swamp

This one's pretty easy. Charge the bombs that the Wizard throws at you back at him and flame any of the gators he sends at you.

Your aim has to be precise, as the bombs go quite long and he's a pretty small target. When he's down to one hit left, he'll start throwing rockets at you that are quite easy to avoid. It takes four hits to defeat him and get a Dragon Egg out of it.

Also, as angryponcho mentioned, he has the same growl sound as Gnasty Gnorc. wut

There's also a Sheila segment here. After hearing her talk in haiku, you'll have to clear a path for the fireflies to bomb the cage and release the firefly eggs. Break the rocks with your kick, and headbash the mushrooms to lower them temporarily. Thankfully, the path is clearly marked. You'll be doing this twice for a total of two eggs.

Skill Points

Spooky Swamp

Destroying all the Piranha signs without leaving the level or entering a Challenge Portal gives you a Skill Point.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 12 of 41

This is why you get used to Japanese confirmation controls on PlayStation games...so you don't have first world pains like this. I did it with Xenosaga. Look at me now!

Icy Peak

Turns out, the ice floor inside the building contains a headbashable area. You'll have to enter it from higher up, and headbash the cracked area in the center from there.

There's also a staircase that leads to one of the Dragon Eggs. You'll have to look around for it, but it's not really that hard to find unless you don't actually explore the level.

Don't forget: there's also a cracked portion in one of the walls of the level that you can hit with the cannon and blast open. If you're missing 18 gems and nothing else, that's probably why.

Challenge Portals

Icy Peak

For the first one, you'll be on a large Supercharge track. You'll be tackling thieves carrying Dragon Eggs, and they'll be going pretty fast. As always, they slow down a little bit on the turns, and if you can keep up with them, you'll be able to get the eggs easily. There are two eggs to get here.

Don't forget to use the Supercharge to break the chest that's tucked in a nook somewhere on the track, as well as the nook that's inside the building near the loop on one part of the track.

For the second one, you'll have to pay Moneybags 500 gems to enter the Ice Dancing arena. Also, I swear Nancy's voice reminds me of Bobby's mom from Bobby's World. It was just so similar and Midwestern sounding that I facepalmed. Anyway, hit all the Rhynoc hockey players before they hit Nancy and you'll get an Egg out of the ordeal.

Skill Points

Icy Peak

Remember the pedestal one of the thieves comes down from in that Challenge Portal area? Well, you can access it via the whirlwind in this area. Glide to the pedestal and land on it successfully to get a Skill Point and extra life that is way too easy to miss out on.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 11 of 41

Finally, a Sgt. Byrd section.

Molten Crater

Since we've beaten this level and freed Sgt. Byrd, let's head back here and enter his section in Molten Crater.

For this one, you'll be in the Tiki Lodge and you'll have to find the heads and place them back on the headless tiki bodies. There are five in all, and this will earn you a Dragon Egg as well as an honorary spot in the Tiki Lodge.

The heads are picked up similarly to the bombs in the previous Sgt. Byrd section.

The toucans respawn really quickly. All they do is fly around in circles, so they're really obstacles more than they are enemies, as they don't damage you. If you do run into them with a head in your possession, however, you'll drop the head. If a head falls into lava, you'll have to return to wherever you found the head and get it again.

Break the crack in the wall with a rocket to find a hidden Dragon Egg. This one can be clearly easy to miss, since it goes well with the wall and it doesn't seem like it can be broken. I am quite proud of that crack in the wall.

If you need health, hit the slug in the center of the room.

Icy Peak

The fodder here are ducks.

The vultures can be destroyed easily with the cannon, while the TNT crates are easily destroyed with either cannon fire or the flame. I wouldn't recommend charging the TNT crates.

You can also destroy the ice statues at the start with the cannon. One of them reveals a whirlwind to some barrels on an isolated platform.

The Rhynocs with the guns can only be charged, and the big guys that only fall to the flame attack carry ice picks.

There are also enemies that carry TNT crates and ride them towards you when you see them coming. Interestingly, they're miniature versions of the Yeti from the second game.

When you find Doug, you'll be able to take the gondola near him back to the beginning of the level. Apparently Doug and Bob are Canadians. From Canadia.

Skill Points

Molten Crater

If you bring the tiki heads to the platform at the beginning of the level with Sgt. Byrd before you place them on the bodies, you'll get a skill point and an extra life. This takes a little bit of time, but it's well worth it!

Enjoy catching up with the new ISO file, because the other one is indeed hacked.

Also, non-live commentary.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 9 of 41

In this entry, we get another playable character and find out that angryponcho's copy of the game might be hacked.

Midday Gardens

For 700 gems, you can free the penguin. This is Sgt. Byrd, and he'll clobber Moneybags with a rocket launcher. (Don't ask, it's really hilarious to watch, since it just sends Moneybags flying. There's no explosion, either, which makes it unintentionally funnier than it should be.)

His cage will be replaced with Sgt. Byrd's Base.

Sgt. Byrd's Base

Well, you'll have to free the base from Rhynoc control this time around.

The fodder here are ladybugs, like the ones in Glimmer from the second game.

Holding X lets you fly. This is nice, since you can fly just about anywhere the game lets you go. If you let go, Sgt. Byrd won't drop down; instead, he'll float downwards gently. This is nice, since you can slowly drop to wherever you want to go, which means less effort on platforming sometimes.

Your only way to defend yourself is with the rocket launcher. Despite what he said about having limited ammo, you actually have unlimited ammo. Feel free to blow anything and everything up. No, you don't have a headbash style attack with Sgt. Byrd. They also have a bit of a homing ability, but it only works if your aim is very slightly off.

Shoot the cages to free the purple hummingbirds. Free all five to get a Dragon Egg.

When you're flying, press Triangle to switch to a top-down position. This will make it easier to position Sgt. Byrd above the weights and grab them with his feet. From there, you'll be using the same aiming camera for Spyro's rock spit and Superflame to place the weights on the pressure-sensitive pads, which you can drop with the Square button. You don't really need to use it, but it helps in case you're trying to figure out where the pads are.

Grab a bomb to collect some bombs. You'll need these for some of the gophers as well as some top-down attacks. You'll need these to break the metal chests, since you can't break them with the rocket launcher.

Past the portal is a lava cava complete with lava jets in the walls. This will be the first test of your flying skills with Sgt. Byrd, and you'll get one of the hummingbirds at the end.

Turns out the floor below the metal chest shortly after the beginning of the level is destructible. If you bomb it, you'll be able to find your way into the building where one of the hummingbirds is.

Skill Points

Sgt. Byrd's Base

You may have noticed the gophers in the level. You'll have to bomb and/or shoot all the gophers that pop out of the holes in the ground. If you get too close, they'll immediately retreat back into the ground until you're far enough away from them again. They're slightly fast, but you can get them.

We finally enter the second homeworld!

Midday Garden

Shortly after you walk into this world, Bianca appears again, taunts you a second time and teleports back out. Wonderful.

Anyway, get back to Sunrise Spring.

Sunrise Spring

To the left of the room with the balloon is a sign with a picture of Sparx on it. Talk to Zoe, and she'll tell you she found an egg that only Sparx can get. It's on a crawdad farm, and he's the only one who can fit into this hole in the wall.

Crawdad Farms

You'll be playing as Sparx now, and you'll be playing in a top-down view. Use the Control Pad to both go forward and turn, and use Circle to shoot and Square to charge. Use L1 and R1 to strafe.

Open the doors by walking up to them.

The charge can be used to destroy fast enemies that you normally wouldn't be able to defeat by shooting.

Some butterflies will give you health if you touch them, just like in the Dragon World. Others, however, can give Sparx power-ups. If you eat a power-up butterfly, just use X to use the power-up. You'll be able to use it for a short time.

These green butterflies will give you a rapid-fire shot. You'll only get 300 shots to work with, so be careful. If you eat another green butterfly, you'll refill your rapid fire ammo back to 300.

The red key is used to open red doors. I think you can figure out what the blue, yellow and green keys do with this small tidbit of information.

The purple butterfly gives you a three-way homing shot that locks in on and hits three enemies at one time. You'll get nine shots for it.

The regular yellow and pink butterflies that look just like the ones in the Dragon World refill some of your health when you touch them.

You'll have to find a switch on the floor and move into it to turn off the shields that protect the enemy boxes. As long as the boxes are around, enemies will spawn endlessly from them.

Don't use the charge attack on the crawdads. You will take damage.

The dark pink butterfly gives you a three-way fire shot. You get nine shots for this, and it can do some pretty good damage.

Keep backing up and strafing as you shoot down the crabs. They take a little bit of punishment, but they're still easy to bring down.

There is a boss here: the Crawdad King. He will shoot fireballs at you, and when it gets low on health, he loses its claws and breathes fire. He's pretty easy, for the most part.

When you're done, walk through the portal to end the level.

When you complete the level, you'll be able to pick up gems with Sparx when they're further away from Spyro.

Midday Gardens

Alright, back to the game.

The fodder here are little blue rabbits.

Don't forget the Dragon Egg near the portal to Icy Peak. There's a little corridor near the portal that's pretty easy to miss.

You'll be able to learn how to climb ladder and spit rocks in this world, but since we've played Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, we already know how to do this, now, don't we?

Those four columns with the foliage above them can be destroyed with the Superflame power-up. When you destroy the last one, you'll get a Dragon Egg.

Well, it's official: you can also get extra life butterflies by repeatedly flaming fodder, just like in the second game.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 7 of 41

Just like last time, we have speedway levels. They're a little different, though. Read on!

Mushroom Speedway

For the "Race the Butterflies" challenge, you'll have to fly through all the green rings in order. The red dots will lead the way. At the same time, you have to beat all the butterflies and be the first person to reach the finish line. Use the star-shaped rings to boost your way through the level, and also to cut corners. Just be sure not to miss any rings, or you'll have to start over. The butterflies will use some of the rings, but not all of them. Use this to your advantage. Place 1st for a Dragon Egg.

For the third egg, you'll have to find Hunter. He'll be in a mushroom hut away from the main portion of the speedway. Talk to him, and you'll get a new mission: take down all the sheep that are flying around in the flying saucers. (What, are we somehow close to Metropolis and Avalar?) Anyway, take the challenge, and you'll be playing as Hunter in his plane instead of Spyro. Use X or Square for your Turbo, which will definitely let you catch up with these guys. Shoot them all down for another Dragon Egg. Just be careful not to fly directly behind them, as you might end up running straight into one of the mines they leave behind.

Sunrise Spring

You're done with all the main missions in each level. Jump into the balloon and head to Midday Gardens.

Midday Garden

You'll get a cutscene prior to entering this world where Bianca creates a monster out of a Rhynoc. Interestingly, she's reluctant at first about killing Spyro.

You're going to have to fight this thing immediately, by the way. Not that the battle is very hard...

Buzz's Dungeon

To beat this boss, charge into it. Every time you tackle him, he'll jump to the side. Keep charging it towards the edge of the arena, then tackle it into the lava. Sheila will stomp on it for some damage. When it comes out, avoid its rolling attack by charging around the arena until it stops, then knock it into the lava again.

If a shield of flames is around the boss, wait for it to dissipate before tackling him with your charge attack again. After the third hit, it will start sneezing that fire at you. Jump and glide over the flames and charge him when you get close.

If you keep close to the edge of the arena as the boss does its rolling attack, you'll have less of an effort to produce when it comes to knocking him into the lava.

Finally, an underwater level!

Seashell Shore

Start swimming, kid. Anyway, you'll have to free the seals from the jail that the Rhynocs put them in. Man, the Rhynocs are jerks.

Anyway, charge into the squids and the guys with the underwater bazookas when you're in the water.

The fodder here are birds wearing tiny glass domes for diving helmets.

Be careful with the seashells. Some of them are empty, but others contain enemies that come at you if you're close enough.

The Rhynoc sailors throw explosive barrels at you, but you can charge them back at them to finish them off in a rather explosive way.

Challenge Portals

Seashell Shore

There's a portal to a Sheila segment in the middle of the level. Here, you'll be helping seals take down a Rhynoc fortress and get a Dragon Egg as part of the spoils of victory. Use the headbash (or in this case, the stomp) to take down the turrets, and kick the enemies into the sand blocks to take more of the protective walls down in less time.

There's another one in the second underwater segment of the stage. Here, you'll have to go through a tunnel with a high-speed current inside, and you'll have to take down all the Rhynocs in one shot while avoiding the mines in order to make it to the end. You'll get a Dragon Egg if you make it to the other side.

Go up to the ceiling in the second underwater segment. You'll find the third Challenge Portal, where you'll have to defeat a shark submarine in order to earn yet another Dragon Egg. Just avoid the shark as it chomps towards you, and collect the boxes to get more ammunition. Take down the shark submarine's health meter and you'll win the day. Don't forget that you can speed up with the X button...it really helps against the shark sub.

Skill Points

Seashell Shore

Near the exit is an aquatic chicken. (Yeah, a swimming chicken. Wrap your head around this, people.) It will swim around in a path much like the thieves', and if you can charge into it, you'll get a Skill Point.

THIS LP MAY BE PIRATED

Sunrise Spring

Well, now that we're done with Cloud Spires, it's time to head to Molten Crater. To do that, find the portal that takes 10 eggs to open. There should be some sort of Tiki-looking guy named Rocky standing next to it. Since we have 20 eggs already, we'll be able to open it.

Also, we finally find out what those other people we've met that went back to the Sunrise Spring homeworld are doing: they're trying to bring down a balloon that will bring us to the next homeworld.

Molten Crater

You'll have to get to the Tiki lodge to get the other people to do something about the Rhynocs that are running rampant through the land.

The fodder here are slugs.

It wouldn't be Molten Crater without lava that burns you at the slightest touch, would it?

Flaming the flowers doesn't give you a skill point, sadly. I wish it did, too.

The smaller Rhynocs carry swords and shields, but the bigger ones carry whips. Beware the bigger ones, as they have some range with those whips. At least you can flame the big ones. You'll also have warthogs that charge at you.

Remember that treasure chest at the start? Well, you'll have to find the gold key that fits in the keyhole to open it. It'll be near the exit portal.

You'll see a door to another character segment, but you won't be able to get it yet until you free Sgt. Byrd later in the game.

Mushroom Speedway

The first challenge is just like the second game: fly through all the rings and destroy everything. Rings first, then dandelions, then spiders, then the butterflies.

Also, Sparx talks in this game. Interesting.

Also, beating a speedway in a specific amount of time doesn't give you a Skill Point. This is really disappointing, because every time I did this in the second game, I actually felt accomplished afterwards since they were the hardest to get.

Challenge Portals

Molten Crater

You'll find Moneybags again near a door close to the exit portal. If you pay him 300 gems, you'll be able to open that door and chase down thieves for two Dragon Eggs. The second thief is much faster, but you'll have access to the Supercharge power-up to get close to him and flame him.

Skill Points

Molten Crater

In that Challenge Portal area involving the two thieves, use the Supercharge on the ramp, then run into that cracked wall. You'll find an extra life butterfly, and if you get it, you'll get the Skill Point that goes along with it.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 4 of 41

The bears in the togas remind me of Santino Marella. Also, the pink one at the top of the tower is like Julie-Su the Echidna if she was a bear, spoke like Santino Marella, wore a guy's toga and refused to cover her left boob.

Yeah, you're probably going to be wanting to look both names up.

Sunny Vista

Now that we've got Sheila, let's go back to Sunny Vista and find that Sheila door to do the Sheila section of the level. Once you get this done, you're finished with the level.

When you make it back to the Sheila door, you'll find a Challenge Portal in its place. Go ahead and complete the Sheila segment to get a Dragon Egg. To do that, find Marco's love Rapunzel at the top of the tower (who apparently looks just like the rest of the people here except she's pink).

The Rhynocs here are pretty easy, but be careful around the ones near the edges of platforms, as they can hit you out of the air at times if you're not careful.

Cloud Spires

Check near the start for gems.

The fodder here are the little blue birds that fly around.

Anyway, you'll have to turn the cloud generator back on, so Nimbus can see rainbows again. Apparently, all the people here are named after types of clouds.

The giant Rhynocs with the wings will blow you away if you get too close. Jump up when they moves into attack mode and flame them. Charge the guys with the shields.

Hit the switch to activate the air bellow elevators. It's like everything is powered by air here.

You'll meet Moneybags again in the middle of the level. If you give him 200 gems, he'll let you use the bellows near him.

When you meet Fluffy, he'll unclog the cloud generator and give you a Dragon Egg before going through the portal back to Sunrise Spring that appears next to him.

Challenge Portals

Cloud Spires

Near Fluffy is not one, but two Challenge Portal. The first one we'll cover is the Whirlwind that opens up nearby after you unclog the cloud generator. Just get the Superfly power-up and flame the evil spirits as you fly around. This one's pretty easy. Don't forget to get the gems here.

Be sure to explore this area for more than the gems, though. You'll meet another Thief, and he acts like the thieves from the first two games. Flame him to get the Dragon Egg that he has in his hands.

The other one is in plain sight near where Fluffy was standing. Enter it and you'll have to revive the Sun with a lava cannon and three Sun Seeds. Hit the switch to get a Sun Seed to come out, then keep flaming in until it reaches its destination. Be quick so they don't burn out on you. When you flame it, you'll light it back up. They take different paths, so be careful.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 3 of 41

We finally control a character other than Spyro...

Sunrise Spring Home

Go ahead and rescue Sheila (even though we could have done it already). You'll get a cutscene where Sheila kicks Moneybags into the wall before telling Spyro about how Dragons used to rule the Forgotten Realms a thousand years ago before suddenly vanishing and taking all the magic in the realms with them.

Sheila's Alp

This is more of a tutorial level where you learn to control Sheila, and this isn't the last time you'll play as her, either.

When you enter, you'll be able to take control of Sheila. The mountain goats have been kicked out of their home by the Rhynocs, and you'll have to kick the Rynocs back out to set things straight. You'll get a Dragon Egg in return for this all-too-easy task.

The fodder here are those birds that run around across the ground.

Sheila has two double jumps, a kick attack that is triggered by both attack buttons, and a stomp that works just like Spyro's Headbash.

The first double jump is done like Spyro's glide, but the second one involves jumping straight up and then jumping again as soon as you hit the ground, resulting in a much higher vertical leap the second time around.

You'll get a Dragon Egg if you can break the rock in front of the house. You can break rocks with either a Headbash or a regular kick.

Use the Headbash to break the huts. Not only will this earn you another Dragon Egg, you'll also stop the endless spawn of Rhynocs. What is this, Gauntlet?

When you're done with this level, you'll get another cutscene. The girl in the hood warns you again and zaps Hunter, but Spyro gets her in the end. She still gets away, though.

Skill Points

Sunny Vista

Once you get both Skateboarding challenges done, you can go for the course record of 3200 points. This one isn't too hard, believe it or not. Here's all the moves you can do, courtesy of JellyBeanLord.

Skateboard Controls

X - Jump off a ramp.

Triangle - After jumping off a ramp, hold it down and press different directions on the Control Pad to do tricks. Do a spin off a blue half-pipe ramp for some 360's, 720's and more.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 2 of 41

Now that we're done in Sunrise Spring (for now), let's take on one of the worlds.

Sunny Villa

What? No hilarious pre-level video clips?

The fodder here are frogs.

Anyway, in this level, you'll have to take on the Rhynoc forces that have taken over the town and kidnapped the mayor. The small Rhynocs are child's play, but you'll have to flame the big ones.

There's a door that you can access here near the beginning of the level, but you'll have to free Sheila the Kangaroo in order to open it.

When you free the mayor, you'll get another Dragon Egg (that will happen quite a bit when you complete levels), then he runs into the portal that appears soon afterward.

Challenge Portals

Throughout the game, you'll be dealing with Challenge Portals. These are portals with black openings. If you go into them, you'll find a mini-level of sorts where you have to accomplish a specific task to get a Dragon Egg.

Sunny Vista

The first one involves catching and/or flaming 15 lizards. This one isn't terribly hard. Just remember that if you press X when going toward the edge of a blue ramp, you can get some wicked air and get a much higher vertical leap, which you'll need for a few of the lizards.

After this, you'll get a second challenge where you'll have to do it again, this time in three minutes and without wiping out once. Again, not too hard. Just don't mess up.

Skill Points

Sunny Villa

Flame all the potted plants without dying or entering a Challenge Portal to get a skill point and an extra life.

angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 1 of 41

Believe it or not, I've never played this game. I really want to. I really, REALLY do. So I'm going to watch angryponcho play another Spyro game after watching him cover the first two.

Should I have played this game when it came out, considering it's considered the end of the Spyro series' zenith? I shall probably come to my conclusion at the end of this guide, more than likely.

Enough talk, let's cover the game already.

Love the fact that you can make an "icon" for your save file to tell all three apart. Also, the cutscene loading screens are on par with Spyro 2.

Anyway, the game begins with what looks like a strangely attractive furry girl in a black robe complete with hood leading a bunch of miniature rhinos that walk on two legs into stealing dragon eggs. Not surprisingly, she's the one who botches it all up by tripping off of Hunter's arm, and also not surprisingly, everyone wakes up and Hunter also trips (this time on a rock) while chasing after her. Spyro manages to flame her (I don't even know if the hooded person is an it. I haven't even played it.) but somehow both the hooded figure and the egg fall into the freshly-dug hole in the ground that said person and minions came out of.

We then find out the hooded figure is female (the hood still never comes off) and she hands them to the queen of...whoever these people are. The queen tells her to block the tunnels, but Zoe the Fairy is already there and knows what's going on. She gives them word of what's going on, and it turns out the Eggs are in the Forgotten Worlds, which is clear on the other side of the Dragon World. Spyro is the only one who can go, as he's clearly the only one who can fit in the holes (though Hunter is able to join him as the dragons give him a little help).

Sunrise Spring

Well, a lot of stuff hasn't changed from the last game. Extra life butterflies (and their glass bottles) still exist. Believe it or not, you start out with all the moves you learned from Spyro 2 from the get-go...minus the gem location ability that Sparx had. (You'll see why later on.)

The overworlds are more like those in the first game. Also, the enemies carry gems again, so don't worry about Spirit Particles this time around.

Just like in the first two games, there is fodder. Here, it's the ever-familiar sheep, but once again it'll change depending on where you are.

If you walk up to a Dragon Egg, the baby dragon will instantly hatch, and you'll save the baby dragon. Some of these you'll be able to find somewhere, the others you'll have to complete Challenge Portal challenges to get. (More on that later.)

The voice acting sounds a lot better this time around, as it's exceptionally clear compared to what was going on with Ripto's Rage.

When you get near the portal to Sunny Villa, a flying rainbow shows up and you'll meet the hooded figure...whose name happens to be Bianca. What, they couldn't pick a better name for a lackey? Anyway, she just tells you to turn back before she disappears.

Moneybags is back. If you have 300 gems, he'll be able to free Shiela the Kangaroo from the likes the the Sorceress.

If you complete Hunter's little gliding tutorial, you'll get an Egg.

Some of the portals won't open until you get enough Eggs. As for that balloon near the Sparx sign, you won't be able to do anything with it until later.

Disappointing how there's no fanfare when you collect everything in a level. You just get a "Level complete" message.

TAS Smart Ball SNES in 14:27 by andymac

Why not?

plasticallan plays Jerry Boy - Part 7 of 7

Here it is: the final battle.

Stage 8-B

This one is more of a maze than anything else.

When you make it to the final room, you'll face the wizard. He'll fly back and forth and create clones of himself down below where you're at. Hit the clones to get a ball, and hit the wizard with the ball. Four hits will finish his first form off.

For his second form, he'll summon a ghost that spits fire. Dodge the fire. After he does this twice, he'll come down to your level, and you'll be able to hit him from there. If you're good enough, though, you'll be able to hit him while's he above you and doing the whole attacking them. Two more hits will finally do him in.

When you beat the wizard, you'll get your human form back as well as the princess! Well done!

J: As soon as you drop down, climb the ceiling to your left, go through the pipe and enter the pipe directly to the right when you come out. This takes you to the J.

E: Now go back up that pipe and go down the one to the far left. This will take you to the E.

R: When you make it to the door of the first section, you'll get the first R on the other side.

R: As you continue through the second section of this stage, you'll see the second R at the start of the maze segment.;

Y: At the end of the maze, you'll get the Y. You now have all the letters in the game! Your reward is obviously nothing, but hey, at least you know where they all are now.

plasticallan plays Jerry Boy - Part 6 of 7

It's time to storm the castle and set everything straight!

Stage 8-A

Oh, wow. The music is really good here.

Anyway, you'll be climbing ceilings to avoid guillotines and moving over spears that jut in and out of floors and ceilings.

The soldiers will jab at you with spears, since they know you're here and I'm guessing they don't know it's you. Or they just don't care. I'm going with the former.

Also, there's a guy spinning around with a heavy ball in his hands and a chef that tries to kill you with butcher knives and spatulas. The heavy ball guy is indestructible, so you'll have to wait for him to move around to get to where you want to go. For the chef, watch out for the spatulas, as they move in a zig-zag pattern compared to the straight line his knives fly in.

To get past the narrow ceiling at the beginning of the section, you'll have to quickly alternate between down and forward on the control pad while standing next to the wall. If you do it right, you'll slip through to the other side.

For the segment with all the blocks in the area, you can move past the darker ones. They're just part of the backgrounds. The lighter ones are the actual obstacles.

Leap into the stained glass windows to end the level. You'll fight a boss here, which happens to be Tom as a blob. He's pink and much bigger than you, and he'll try to swallow you and spit you into the spikes in the walls. Stay away from him and hit him six times. If Slime Tom does swallow, keep using your regular attack to pile on the damage!

J, E: You'll see these in plain sight as you make your way to the first pipeline in the stage.

R: The first R is at the very beginning of the second section.

R: Before going up that narrow gap with the seed, go all the way to the right after the first R and avoid the spears as you do. You'll find the second R. (Thanks to Snow Dragon's FAQ for finding this one.)

Y: When you make it out of the maze segment at the end, you'll see the Y.

plasticallan plays Jerry Boy - Part 5 of 7

We head up the mountain as he get closer and closer to Tom's lair...

Stage 7-A

In this stage, you'll be climbing up a mountain and going against the current with waterfalls and streams. That's it, really.

Watch out with the log bridge at the beginning, as the segments fall when you stand on them.

The kids floating up on the balloons act as platforms. If you knock the kids off with your regular attack, the balloon will travel faster.

J: You'll see it right after the start.

E: Jump on the balloon of the first balloon kid in the stage. He'll be near the E at his highest point.

R: The second balloon kid will take you to the first R.

R: Oh, plasticallan, you should have explored the rest of the level. If you had just dropped down just at the end and taken the middle tube, you would have gotten the second R that we all saw earlier in the video. (Thanks to Snow Dragon's FAQ for finding this one.)

Y: It's at the end, just after the first R.

Stage 7 Town

Oh, wow. Apparently the castle in Stage 8 is Tom's lair. Yep, your brother got rid of you so he could have the kingdom for himself.

Enter the log cabin and you'll also find out that Tom is going to marry Emi. Yeah, thanks, brethren. Also, the old man that gives you 1-Ups will be here, and he'll give you another 1-Up.

Stage 7-B

Now you're going down the mountain.

The red dragons shoot three fireballs out when they open their mouths, so use a ball to kill them if you need to.

When you reach the maze with all those big down arrows, go right at the beginning. You'll find a Health Up on the other side of that pipe.

The boss here is a fish. Hit him four times, then avoid the bones that he sends at you until he self-destructs. The 1-Up will come down the waterfall.

J: Keep to the right side of the level on the way down, so you can get the J.

E: After you see the crabs, go into the door and get the 1-Up. Exit the room through the door on the right, drop down, and you'll see the E.

R: You'll see the first R in plain sight right after the E. Use the Seed to the left of the R to get it.

R: Go down the tube in the ground that you see shortly after the first R to get the second R. (Thanks to Snow Dragon's FAQ for finding this one.)

Y: Use the seed in that room to go up just before the waterfall. You'll find some platforms. Near the crab is the Y.

plasticallan plays Jerry Boy - Part 4 of 7

Once again, we see human beings in an arctic-like area that are lacking in clothing.

Stage 6-A

You'll be seeing penguins everywhere. Some just run around, while others slide down slopes.

The pirate in the second room is naked. THE PIRATE IN THE SECOND ROOM IS NAKED.

HOW IN GOD'S NAME WAS THIS ALLOWED TO GO UNCENSORED?!? MY MIND IS BLOWN!

Anyway, there are penguins here that just move around and OH DEAR GOD THAT MAN IS RUNNING INTO A WALL IN HIS UNDERWEAR WHAT THE FUCK.

The ice blocks melt when you stand on them.

The seed allows you plant a seed on the ground and make a vine platform to reach areas that were once unreachable.

When you reach the tiny tower made of ice, enter the lower door first. At the very top is a 1-Up.

J: It's right at the beginning.

E: Once you enter the door, you'll see the E in plain sight.

R: After the guy in his underwear who runs into the wall, go up the series of platforms to reach the first R.

R: Before you enter the door to the third section, go into the water and go to the right. You'll find the second R.

Y: You'll see the Y at the very end of the stage.

Stage 6 Town

The house between the dog and the seal contains the old man, who has another 1-Up for you. He also asks you if you've been to the cavern yet.

You'll also learn that there is a monster in that cavern...or so the townspeople think.

Stage 6-B

Well, this one is substantially less quirky.

The sky-blue blocks with the white trim melt when you stand on them.

The flower above the first bomb enemy contains a 1-Up. Watch out when you get near the bomb enemies, as they will light up and run faster when you get too close in front of them. Also, you can see the fuse get shorter when it lights up.

There are enemies in parts of the level that have blue striped walls. You can tell they're there because of the light bouncing off of them. Fortunately, they just move around slowly and are easy to hit.

You'll definitely have noticed this earlier in the game, but when two flame enemies walk into each other, they create one big flame that only lasts for two seconds. It's like the developers almost thought of everything.

The boss here is a polar bear that floats around (I don't even comprehend how) and throws ice blocks. He'll stop floating every so often to run back and forth on one of the platforms, but he dies after six hits. Just be careful not to fall into the pit below.

J, E, R: You'll see these as you make your way through the level, don't worry.

R: After the segment with the blue striped wall, jump up and left to the floor above it to find the second R.

Y: After the blue striped wall segment, eschew the two doors and take the right-most pipe. You'll find the Y.
