angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 20 of 41

Wait, why are we back in Midday Gardens? Well, you're about to find out.

Midday Gardens

Head back to Bamboo Terrace. There's a loose end we need to tie up.

Bamboo Terrace

Besides finding an enemy angryponcho didn't kill earlier (amazingly, I never even noticed it), there's also a Bentley portal here!

Anyway, in this area, Bentley takes a walk to his favorite hill with his brother Bartholomew. Bart's seen some Rhynocs walk to the top of said hill, which really isn't surprising since the Rhynocs ruin everything.

The panda rocks can be broken with your club. That's nice, as the Rhynocs send some coming your way. Also, the first corner on the way up to the top of the hill spawns TNT barrels from an unknown source. Use the deflect spin to set them off without taking damage.

The Dragon Egg is at the top. This is a pretty easy area, but it's pretty fun.

Evening Lake

Alright, time to head back.

Frozen Altars

The fodder here looks like purple kiwis. It's hard to tell.

When you enter this level, you'll meet the Ice Fairies...or one of them, anyway. She looks pretty much like a blue Zoe, and she gives you a freeze flame power-up that lasts as long as you're here.

Shortly after the start, there's a duck named Alex who tells you about the building next to him, which houses a laser defense system. Go in to turn it on, then press Triangle to walk back out. Also, this is perhaps the weirdest voice since Rapunzel from Sunny Vista. I'm going to have to agree with angryponcho...he sounds like he belongs in a pornographic movie and his voice is borderline creepy because of it. I think it's because watching his mouth move makes it look and sound creepy.

Anyway, if you go inside, you can not only melt the snow wall to continue on, you can also fry all the enemies in the immediate vicinity as well.

The freeze flame works wonders on the big guys that you'd usually have to beat (as well as any enemy here in general, but it works best for the big ones). Just hit them with the flame, then ram them while they're a life-size ice cube. Yeah, they're done.

The smaller Rhynocs throw hot coals at you, but you can destroy their ammunition stock by simply charging into it.

The mini-mammoths are pretty quick. Hitting them with the freeze flame first is advisable.

The snowmen can easily be destroyed with the laser defense towers. You'll have to keep the laser trained on them to completely melt them and get their gems, but it's worth it to see them shrink in size in mere seconds.

Hitting Eustace with the freeze flame turns him into an ice block. I'm pretty sure that's the hint he was trying to imply with his voice of hot, hot sex.

Challenge Portals

Frozen Altars

It's another Bentley section. This time, you fight a Yeti. Bartholomew tells you to block his high punches and to hit low when he tries to block.

Square - quick jab
X - body blow
Circle - hook
Triangle - block high

Bentley blocks low automatically, so don't worry about that.

When you beat him the first time, you'll get an egg, but now Bartholomew's ball. This sets up a second fight. Beat him in three rounds or less to get another egg as well as the ball.

If it takes more than one round to finish him off in the second fight, you and the Yeti will both regain about a third of your life bar when you go back at it for another round.

If you pay close attention to what the Yeti is doing, you'll have a slightly easier time..

Skill Points

Frozen Altars

If you can finish off the Yeti in the second fight in two rounds or less, you'll get a Skill Point for your efforts.
