angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 8 of 41

We finally enter the second homeworld!

Midday Garden

Shortly after you walk into this world, Bianca appears again, taunts you a second time and teleports back out. Wonderful.

Anyway, get back to Sunrise Spring.

Sunrise Spring

To the left of the room with the balloon is a sign with a picture of Sparx on it. Talk to Zoe, and she'll tell you she found an egg that only Sparx can get. It's on a crawdad farm, and he's the only one who can fit into this hole in the wall.

Crawdad Farms

You'll be playing as Sparx now, and you'll be playing in a top-down view. Use the Control Pad to both go forward and turn, and use Circle to shoot and Square to charge. Use L1 and R1 to strafe.

Open the doors by walking up to them.

The charge can be used to destroy fast enemies that you normally wouldn't be able to defeat by shooting.

Some butterflies will give you health if you touch them, just like in the Dragon World. Others, however, can give Sparx power-ups. If you eat a power-up butterfly, just use X to use the power-up. You'll be able to use it for a short time.

These green butterflies will give you a rapid-fire shot. You'll only get 300 shots to work with, so be careful. If you eat another green butterfly, you'll refill your rapid fire ammo back to 300.

The red key is used to open red doors. I think you can figure out what the blue, yellow and green keys do with this small tidbit of information.

The purple butterfly gives you a three-way homing shot that locks in on and hits three enemies at one time. You'll get nine shots for it.

The regular yellow and pink butterflies that look just like the ones in the Dragon World refill some of your health when you touch them.

You'll have to find a switch on the floor and move into it to turn off the shields that protect the enemy boxes. As long as the boxes are around, enemies will spawn endlessly from them.

Don't use the charge attack on the crawdads. You will take damage.

The dark pink butterfly gives you a three-way fire shot. You get nine shots for this, and it can do some pretty good damage.

Keep backing up and strafing as you shoot down the crabs. They take a little bit of punishment, but they're still easy to bring down.

There is a boss here: the Crawdad King. He will shoot fireballs at you, and when it gets low on health, he loses its claws and breathes fire. He's pretty easy, for the most part.

When you're done, walk through the portal to end the level.

When you complete the level, you'll be able to pick up gems with Sparx when they're further away from Spyro.

Midday Gardens

Alright, back to the game.

The fodder here are little blue rabbits.

Don't forget the Dragon Egg near the portal to Icy Peak. There's a little corridor near the portal that's pretty easy to miss.

You'll be able to learn how to climb ladder and spit rocks in this world, but since we've played Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, we already know how to do this, now, don't we?

Those four columns with the foliage above them can be destroyed with the Superflame power-up. When you destroy the last one, you'll get a Dragon Egg.

Well, it's official: you can also get extra life butterflies by repeatedly flaming fodder, just like in the second game.
