angryponcho plays Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - Part 11 of 41

Finally, a Sgt. Byrd section.

Molten Crater

Since we've beaten this level and freed Sgt. Byrd, let's head back here and enter his section in Molten Crater.

For this one, you'll be in the Tiki Lodge and you'll have to find the heads and place them back on the headless tiki bodies. There are five in all, and this will earn you a Dragon Egg as well as an honorary spot in the Tiki Lodge.

The heads are picked up similarly to the bombs in the previous Sgt. Byrd section.

The toucans respawn really quickly. All they do is fly around in circles, so they're really obstacles more than they are enemies, as they don't damage you. If you do run into them with a head in your possession, however, you'll drop the head. If a head falls into lava, you'll have to return to wherever you found the head and get it again.

Break the crack in the wall with a rocket to find a hidden Dragon Egg. This one can be clearly easy to miss, since it goes well with the wall and it doesn't seem like it can be broken. I am quite proud of that crack in the wall.

If you need health, hit the slug in the center of the room.

Icy Peak

The fodder here are ducks.

The vultures can be destroyed easily with the cannon, while the TNT crates are easily destroyed with either cannon fire or the flame. I wouldn't recommend charging the TNT crates.

You can also destroy the ice statues at the start with the cannon. One of them reveals a whirlwind to some barrels on an isolated platform.

The Rhynocs with the guns can only be charged, and the big guys that only fall to the flame attack carry ice picks.

There are also enemies that carry TNT crates and ride them towards you when you see them coming. Interestingly, they're miniature versions of the Yeti from the second game.

When you find Doug, you'll be able to take the gondola near him back to the beginning of the level. Apparently Doug and Bob are Canadians. From Canadia.

Skill Points

Molten Crater

If you bring the tiki heads to the platform at the beginning of the level with Sgt. Byrd before you place them on the bodies, you'll get a skill point and an extra life. This takes a little bit of time, but it's well worth it!
