PrinceWatercress plays Kirby's Dream Land 3 - Part 14 of 14

Since SlimKirby did an ability combo video, I decided to do one of my own.

First | Previous

And now, the abilities list, which ends the rest of this game and puts the more abridged re-write of this guide to an end. See you next project.

Kirby

Fire: Makes Kirby turn into a blazing fireball and shoot forward. You can bypass some enemies with this ability.

Stone: Turns Kirby into a rock that can damage enemies. Enemies can also pass by him if he's on the ground, but he can't keep this form up for long. Of course, you're also going to be able to roll down hills.

Needle: Turns Kirby into a living pincushion.

Broom: Kirby sweeps the floor. The dust acts as a very short-range projectile. More useful for getting a few of the Heart Stars by itself, and is far more practical when combined with an animal friend.

Cutter: Kirby throws boomerangs, much like Sir Kibble.

Parasol: Kirby can use this as a weapon. Can also be used as a shield against things from above. Tap Up on the Control Pad while in the air to float.

Ice: Kirby is blue and has an ice breath. Any enemy that touches it will turn into an ice cube, which Kirby can push forward to send flying into other enemies.

Spark: Kirby can create a field of electricity around himself. If an enemy touches it, he's instantly fried.

w/ Rick

Fire: Rick has a fire breath that takes out anything in front of him.

Stone: Rick turns into a giant boulder, and Kirby gets around by walking on him. You can actually go up hills and roll down them, taking out enemies as you go. Airborne enemies can still hit you if they touch Kirby, though.

Needle: Rick's back fur will stand on end and form several needles, which can attack anything behind him. You're left vulnerable against anything in front of you, so it's not very practical unless you're really good with it.

Broom: Rick holds a feather duster out in front of him, which can be used as a weapon.

Cutter: Kirby is a boomerang, and Rick throws him. You can also move Rick with the Control Pad if you need to, and he's not stuck in the throwing animation like he was last game.

Parasol: Rick balances the Parasol on his nose, and as it spins around, Kirby stays in place, albeit in ball form. This can attack not only anything in front of them, but also above them if the timing is right.

Ice: Rick and Kirby form a snowman, with Rick being the bottom and a blue Kirby being the top. Enemies that touch Kirby get frozen. It works better against airborne enemies and only works on the ground if the enemies are way too close, so it's not very practical.

Spark: Rick and Kirby fire a beam that goes clockwise from above Rick's head to right next to him at ground level. It's like Waddle Doo's attack.

w/ Coo

Fire: Kirby becomes a fireball, and he and Coo go down and forward as they  rocket ahead for a second.

Stone: Kirby turns into a stone, and he and Coo drop straight to the ground. You must be in the air to create the dust clouds that allow this attack to be effective.  Kirby won't be able to hold this form for long.

Needle: Kirby becomes a giant needle that stabs anything below Coo. It's not as practical as it was in the last game, where Kirby's pincushion form was used in conjunction with Koo.

Broom: Kirby uses Coo as a feather duster. Still a better weapon than the Broom weapon by itself.

Cutter: Coo fires a feather forward (compared to the 3-Way shot in the second game).

Parasol: Coo and Kirby spin around with the Parasol above them. They don't do it as long as they did in the last game, though.

Ice: Instead of an aerial ice breath, Coo fires off a three-way ice crystal attack.

Spark: Kirby fires a thunderbolt down to the ground. It's very narrow, so it doesn't offer a lot of aerial coverage and leaves you extremely vulnerable.

w/ Kine

Fire: Kine breathes out a fire beam that goes forward a good distance.

Stone: Kirby turns into a rock and, both he and Kine drop like a missile. You must be in the air to create the dust clouds that allow this attack to be effective. Kirby won't be able to hold this form for long.

Needle: Spikes form all over Kine, turning him into a living pincushion much like it does for Kirby.

Broom: Okay, this is interesting. Kine holds a plunger in his mouth. Run into an enemy as you hold the attack button, and they'll stick to the plunger and act as a human shield as you keep the button held down.

Cutter: Kine fires a cutter beam out of his mouth. It's faster and looks different from the second game.

Parasol: Kine holds a parasol in his mouth, but this time he looks straight up. It can hit enemies as it pops out, and you can float with it and slowly move around, but that's about it. It's not very practical.

Ice: Kine encases himself in ice. Enemies will have to be directly touched to run into him in order to be turned into ice cubes. It's not very practical, and it's not much better than the problematic ice shield from the last game (which froze Kine and left him open to attack if he used it too long).

Spark: Kine holds a light bulb in his mouth, which lets him illuminate dark spaces. Unlike the last game, he can no longer fire it like a missile, and the bulb bursts if he either holds it too long or hits an enemy with it. This is probably the one ability from the last game that got watered down the most.

w/ Chuchu

Fire: If you're on the ground, Kirby justs a very short-range fire breath that only attacks anything right in front of him. If you're in the air, though, Chuchu and Kirby become a two-person hot-air balloon as Chuchu becomes the balloon and Kirby flies around using his fire breath. You can mow down enemies with it just by moving into them, and even though it's a bit on the slow side, it's the best way to get the Chuchu Heart Star in World 3-5 and it's still better than Chuchu's natural flying ability. As long as you're airborne when you use it, it's hands-down one of the most interesting and probably one of the most useful attacks in the game.

Stone: Kirby turns into a stone, and Chuchu spins him around. You can only hit enemies that are directly in your path, but it's still hilarious.

Needle: Chuchu shoots needles in five directions. Three go in the air, while the other two go forward and back.

Broom: Kirby and Chuchu ride on a broomstick, witch style. If an enemy runs into any of the blue sparkles coming from behind the broom, they get hit. Fat chance of that happening often, though. Still, it's better than Chuchu's natural flying ability.

Cutter: Chuchu turns into a curved blade and Kirby swings her around. You can take out anything that's close to Kirby with it.

Parasol: Kirby and Chuchu spin around in an umbrella. Stone works better, believe it or not.

Ice: Kirby spits out snowballs, and Chuchu tosses them. The snowballs freeze any enemy they touch.

Spark: Chuchu fires off a laser that can bounce off walls and hit enemies. If you hold the attack button down, you can charge it up and create longer-lasting and even bigger beams. It can work like Laser from past Kirby games.

w/ Nago

Fire: Kirby spits out a fireball that travels across the ground and becomes a column of fire on its way to the other side.

Stone: Kirby becomes a stone, and Nago whacks anything near him with the stone Kirby.

Needle: Nago shoots needles out of Kirby that go forward as you hold the attack button. They don't have a lot of range, but it's still a pretty good attack.

Broom: Nago buffs the floor with Kirby.

Cutter: Nago fires a cutter beam out of Kirby that goes up and forwards. The speed is pretty decent, so you can take out airborne enemies quickly.

Parasol: A parasol forms below Kirby, and Nago uses Kirby and the parasol like a pogo stick.

Ice: Kirby uses his ice breath to lift himself and Nago into the air for as long as you hold the attack button down.

Spark: Nago rubs himself on Kirby, attacking nearby enemies with static electricity. Somewhat useful, as you can plow through enemies with it.

w/ Pitch

Fire: Kirby throws Pitch forward, and Pitch becomes a real firebird who burns any enemies he touches.

Stone: Kirby and Pitch leap up, then Pitch takes stone shape and crushes whoever he lands on.

Needle: Pitch's beak stretches out and stabs at whatever's in front of him. It's a really quick attack.

Broom: Kirby shoots out water balloons. The most useful of the Broom attacks, as it actually has some range.

Cutter: Kirby throws Pitch like a boomerang. This one is fairly quick and covers a nice distance.

Parasol: Kirby swings the parasol like a golf club and hits Pitch like a golf ball, causing Pitch to bounce around and hit any enemies he comes into contact with.

Ice: Just like Kirby's ice breathe, except Pitch does it...and it covers a longer distance.

Spark: Okay, this one is awesome. Kirby plays with a remote control, and Pitch flies around like a remote-controlled plane while turning yellow with sparks coming out of him. You have limited control, but Pitch can go anywhere on the screen (even through walls) and hit any enemy he touches.
