PrinceWatercress plays Klonoa: Empire of Dreams - Part 1 of 12

This is one of the more interesting games that I've played on the channel. Of course, you're probably figuring out what the heck to do, so here it is.

Next | End

The game begins with Klonoa and Huepow suddenly appearing and waking up in the Empire of Jillius, where dreaming is forbidden. He is carried away by Emperor Jillius, and it is explained that dreams are forbidden due to Jillius' insomnia by Jillius' royal retainer Bagoo. Instead of punishing Klonoa, they put him on a quest to defeat four monsters terrorizing the land. If Klonoa can beat them, he will be pardoned, but they warn him that he will soon realize his folly.

You'll be on the World Map. Yes, it's supposed to look like an anti-piracy screen; as a matter of fact, if you can find the manual, you'll find out it's supposed to look like this.

Fighting City: Ghazzaland

When Klonoa makes his way into town, he gets beaten up by villagers and finds out that only strength is respected. He and Heupow soon find out that nobody is fighting the monster at the top of the nearby mountain because not even the town champion was a match for that beast. Klonoa and Huepow head out for the mountain.

Vision 1-1

In every regular Vision, you'll need to collect the three Moon Stones to unlock the exit, then fight the exit to get out.

At the bottom - from left to right - you'll see your three hits points, any keys you'll need for the stage (where applicable), the Moon Stones you've collected for the stage, the number of jewels you've collected for the stage, and the amount of lives you have remaining.

By pressing Up in front of signs, you can read them to get hints.

At the start, press B to grab the Muu that walks up to you. From there, you can press B again to throw the enemy, or press A to jump, then press A again with the Muu still in your hand to double jump. If you press and hold A, you'll float with Klonoa's ears for a second before dropping down again. When the Muu collides with something, a portal will pop up around the area where you found and it will re-spawn out of the portal. Thankfully, you can shoot a Wind Bullet at the portal to pull a monster out of it early. You'll need to use the double jump to get to the end of the first green platform.

The green gems are jewels. Green jewels are worth one; the slightly bigger blue ones are worth five. It helps to get all the jewels in a stage, as it will allow you to unlock one of the extra levels for the post-game content.

On the second screen, grab the green flying Muu and use the double jump to get the first Moon Stone. Ditto for the blue jewel afterwards. From here, head right to the third screen.

Use the double jump with a Muu to get the second Moon Stone. From here, you'll have a fork in the road; double jump with an enemy to reach the top road for some more green jewels and the third Moon Stone. The heart will refill one of your hearts should you get hit. If you lose all three of your hearts, you'll lose a life and be taken back to the start of the current room. Thankfully, the spikes on this road don't instantly kill you.

From here, take the low road and go to the exit. It will open now. Walk up to the door and press Up to enter it and end the level.

Vision 1-2

Head to the left and grab the Muu, then grab the three green jewels and double-jump to the right of where you started. There will be a sign that will tell you about the box, which can be thrown around much like the enemies from the first vision, but can be used over and over. They can also be used as platforms and steps. Keep using the blocks and the Muus to get the rest of the jewels on this stage as well as the first Moon Stone, as well as to get to the second screen.

For the second screen, you'll need to use the block to get the second Moon Stone and a Klonoa Token to the right. The Klonoa Token gives you an extra life. From there, use the block again to go up and to the left. Be sure to look around as you go upwards, then to the right, to find everything on the way to the third screen.

By the way, if you hold A during a jump, Klonoa will hover with his ears for a second before dropping down. You can also do this after grabbing an enemy and performing a double jump to get the best possible jump.

On the third screen, take the low road under the exit for the rest of the stage's jewels as well as the third Moon Stone. Use the Muu to reach the exit.

Vision 1-3

Head to the right. Grab the jewels on the low road, then use the block to get on the platform for a Muu and three more green jewels. Take the Muu to the right, and you'll read a sign about locked doors that can only be opened with keys. Use the Muu to double jump to the key above, then walk into the door below to open it and go on to the next screen.

On the next screen, head right and grab the flying Muu, then head back left and grab the first Moon Stone and the jewels near it that you passed by. Go back, grab another flying Muu, then use it and the portal to make your way further up for a Klonoa Token and another Circle Door. Unlock the door, then use the block to get the Triangle Key. Throw the block to the right, then double jump to the right for two more green jewels and the second Moon Stone.

Go back to the previous screen and unlock the Triangle Door. Make your way to the right, watch out for the Muu, then go further to the right. Grab the flying Muu and head to the right, then double jump to the left to get the last of the jewels and the last Moon Stone for the stage. Head back to the left, grab the Muu and double jump to the exit.
