PrinceWatercress plays Johnny Bazookatone - Part 1 of 8

I remember seeing advertisements for this game back in the day, but I never got a chance to play it until I made a YouTube channel, decided to expand my horizons in later years and saw this game for the first time in years on Tumblr. As you're about to see, it is a rather strange game.

Next | End

You are Johnny Bazookatone, a guitar player in the year 2050 who is so famous that he and his music has unified the people of the world and created world peace. Unfortunately, the head honcho of the underworld doesn't like this, and he has taken Johnny's guitar Anita hostage and locked Johnny up in Sin Sin Penitentiary in the underworld. Now Johnny has to get out of prison, rescue his bandmates, get his guitar back and get out of the underworld.

Level 1: Sin Sin Penitentiary

The notes are worth one note, the treble clefs are worth ten notes. If you collect 1000 notes, you'll earn an extra life.

Hold the Fire button down to take out the zombies. Keep firing to ensure that they die even after they fall to the floor to shoot their skulls down, ensuring that they don't revive.

The rainbow notes - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet - give you a big level bonus at the end of the level if you get them all. You do not need to get them to beat the game; there is only one ending here.

The bronze stars give you one unit of health, the silver ones give you two and the gold ones give you three.

If you make a running jump to the left off the first tree, you can jump to the left off a mushroom for more notes, two bronze stars and a red note. If you jump before the edge, you can get into a secret passage that takes you to a bonus section. Avoid the brambles as you jump up to the top of the platforms at the beginning and make a running jump to the right. As you jump to the right, hold Down and Right and keep firing to do a floating jump with your gun to get more notes and avoid even more brambles. Making it to the lit-up doorway at the end takes you back to the beginning of the level, but at least you'll have a better start.

The Johnny head is an instant extra life.

The brown and yellow cap mushrooms are trampolines; the red-and-white spotted cap mushrooms are poisonous and hurt you if you land on them.

The green gremlins will drop notes if you kill them; make sure to pick up as many as possible.

To get to the next section, you'll have to get to the top of the wall by running to the right off the top of the water tower and firing downwards while heading right.

The guy with the hammer will hit the ground with his hammer, causing the rock nearby to go up and down. You can use the rock to get to higher places, but make sure you do not get hit with the hammer.

The mushrooms in the second section will switch between the three varieties here. Again, the brown and yellow cap mushrooms are trampolines; the red-and-white spotted cap mushrooms are poisonous and hurt you if you land on them.

If you die at any point, you'll be taken back to the beginning of the current section. Thankfully, any enemies you've killed stay dead.

You can get on the watch tower roofs by standing on the barricade at the left and right sides. You'll have to exit through the inside of the top of the last one to enter the third section.

If you don't see what looks like a gray mesh floor below a metal platform, you won't be able to stand there; you will drop down.

The orange police dogs will run at you if they see you; you'll want to run and jump over them to get away.

Above one of the watch towers is a doorway in the sky. This takes you to another bonus section where you can get lives, notes and health. The bottom of the area is an underground path to an extra life. Going to the right in the watch tower takes you back to the main level.
