PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 25 of 25

We finally head to the final dungeon of the game and see what's been going on with the whole Rub-A-Doc situation.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Mr. A.B.C.'s Room

Head into the door to the north. You'll meet Mr. A.B.C., who wants to give a lesson at Mt. Rocky.

He will first ask how to say "thank you" in Japanese. The correct answer is "Arigato." You'll get a subway token. You'll take a subway to the other end of the cave. When you take the stairs here, you'll enter an action sequence. Get on the mine cart and jump over the spikes when you see them, and watch out for bats and other enemies and obstacles.

When you make it to the end, you'll be traveling across a set of bridges with breakaway portions. You'll have to cling to some walks to avoid the spikes at this point.

You'll then enter yet another section with brown spiked balls that float back and forth. You'll have to be pretty patient on the narrow corridors, and also cling onto some ceilings to make sure that they pass you. Thankfully, you'll get out of there. Welcome to the final dungeon.

Final Dungeon

The first part of this area is pretty simple, but once you get out of the sewer area, you're going to be in a bit of a futuristic-looking maze.

Take the bridge to the south first. This will take you to a path to one of four items, which make up the last items you will find in the game: the Aura Equipment. These Aura items are the absolute strongest in the game, so make sure you grab them before you make your way to the end. Here, you'll get the Aura Helmet.

After making your way back to the beginning of the path to the Aura Helmet, head to the left. and use a Boo Bomb on the door to open it. This will open up a path that leads to the Aura Armor.

After you make it out of there, you'll want to go counter-clockwise around the room. This leads to a path that takes you to the final boss in the southwest room, but don't go over there yet. Instead, keep going counter-clockwise around the room until you reach another door that you'll have to Boo Bomb. This leads to a path to the Aura Shield.

After that, you can head back to the room in the southwest corner. This leads to the path to the Aura Sword as well as the final boss.

There is a dinosaur tank enemy here. You can easily defeat it with the Hypnoblow.

When you enter the door, you'll meet Rub-a-Doc. It turns out that the Galands had not only kidnapped him, but had been instructing Rub-a-Doc's forces. He notices you have the seven Auraballs, and asks that you and he promote universal peace with the power of the Auraballs. Jack and Ryu hand Rub-a-Doc the Auraballs, who must use them with the Marvel Box. It is then revealed that Rub-a-Doc is Robo-Doc, the Galands' genius scientists. It turns out this was all part of a secret fleet mission to get the Auraballs and power the Dark Bombers, and now he intends to finish you off.

You'll want to use your most powerful attacks at the beginning when possible, and hope they hit. More likely than not, they won't, so you'll want to use normal attacks and your sword. His Robo Smasher will not do a whole lot of damage, After you do enough damage, Robo Doc will change into the Ultra Robot Tranship. Open Fire will do a whole lot of damage, as will Swift Vulcan and the Enter Charger 100, with all three attacks doing about 40 damage if you're at about level 35.

When you beat Robo Doc, that will destroy the secret base, but it will not end the game. You'll be free to do anything you want.

To end the game, go back to Cactus Village and talk to the Chief. You'll put the Auraballs in the Marvel Box and place the Marvel Box on a pedestal. This will cause the real owner of the Auraballs and the Box to take them to his world and bring true peace to the world in what is the most lackluster endings in Super Nintendo/Super Famicom history. You've won!

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 24 of 25

In this episode, we enter the village beyond Future Land and hear a name we haven't heard since the beginning of the game.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Monorail Station

You'll enter this room on the way to Grandopolis. Going north takes you back to Computown on a one-way trip.

Instead of going north, go right. This lets you continue on. Going left takes you to a dead end.

Sadly, you cannot land on the blue path with the ancient giant; you will have to make your way to it the hard way with the subway cars.

You'll meet new enemies in the form of men in futuristic armor carrying dart guns - which fire off short range attacks - as well as flying hornet robots that turn into a humanoid form with an arm cannon after you hit them.

At the end of the path, you will meet two ghosts. One is a dog, and the other is a monkey. Thankfully, these are friendly faces, and they will tell you that Galands are wreaking havoc in Grandopolis. They also tell you that the path ahead will take you to Cactus Village.

Grandopolis Sewers

When you go to the right, take the first set of stairs you see and go south. (If you go south past those stairs, you'll just find a dead end.) You'll find a chest that will give you Lv. Counter 4. Now you have info on all the enemies in the game!

There may be battles with the snake boxers where you may have to beat three of them instead of two

When you come out of the sewers, you'll find a path to Cactus Village. You can also come across the red robot enemies, which are much like the robot enemies you've fought in the past. There is one big difference: they fire a gun at you. Sometimes they wait before shooting, but they can also fire without warning. If you take too long firing them, you'll fight a big red dragon. You can only hit it once to stun it and you cannot hit it while it is stunned, but if you can kill it, it is worth a lot of experience. As for the red robots themselves, they can easily gang up on you, and fighting them is barely worth it due to the low (for this area) experience and money gain.

Oh, and don't get knocked down against robot enemies. You can get put in an infinite loop where they keep throwing you and you will never get back up unless you hit a wall and you're mashing the buttons.

Cactus Village

Here, you can buy the "Scichic Armor" and "Scichic Helmet." It's obviously supposed to be spelled "Psychic," but I'm guessing that Culture Brain games have always had iffy translations when brought over to the West. Even Flying Dragon for Nintendo 64 had the odd misspelling here and there. Anyway, get them. They're the best armor you can get.

By talking around, you'll learn that Rub-A-Doc of U.P.M. came to the town and borrowed their treasure in order to save them. For the first time since the beginning of the game, Rub-A-Doc is finally mentioned again. You will also learn that Mr. A.B.C. is visiting, and that he is in a cave north of the village. If you pass his test, you can get a present.

You will want to talk with the Village Chief, who is to the left of the item shop. He will tell you that he left the Marvel Box with Rub-A-Doc, and now the Galands have kidnapped him. Soldiers in the village are heading north to pursue them, and he asks you to help find Rub-A-Doc and get the Marvel Box back.

If you don't have them yet, get the Thunder Punch and/or the Hypnoblow at Temple Bayon. They will help tremendously.

From here, head north.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 23 of 25

We enter the sewers to find out who is behind these robot body doubles, then we get a bit of bad news. Also, a topic I mention in an earlier video rears its head again in the weirdest of ways.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Athletown Sewers

You'll meet some new enemies: blue baseball birds, football players and hedgehog cheerleaders. Both the baseball and football players can punch and move back, and the blue bird men can crane their necks upwards much like the blue clones from earlier. The hedgehog cheerleaders are your usual "teleport and fireball" enemy.

The wolf and raccoon on the balloon boat drop bombs and fly around. You're better off fighting them on land, as fighting them in water is far harder.

The boxing snakes are much like the minotaur enemies from earlier in the game. They give a very good amount of both experience and Sen. The Thunder Sword will sometimes knock them - and other enemies - back when you stun them from the proper distance, ensuring that you can hit them multiple times and finish them off quickly, even if you have to turn around to do it.

The robots on the dinosaur robots rush from one side of the screen to the other in an attempt to hit you with the drill on their heads. Hit them once or twice, move up or down, hit them again once or twice when they meet up with, repeat until they die.

There is a room at the beginning that cannot be accessed at all. There is a chest there if you can get there by rather dubious means, but there is nothing in it.

The clones also come back here as regular enemies.

The Starbomb is another magic spell. It lets you shoot shurikens that can stick to walls or enemies and explode. The Magic Mine is better, believe it or not.

When you make it to the end, you'll meet the Bad News Boss. After the baseball reference, you'll fight him in an RPG-style battle. Watch out for the Fire Knockout, which will paralyze your characters. The Spirit Blase simply damages both of them, but it is weaker than the Rocket Punch. When you win, you will get the Gold Auraball, the seventh and last Auraball. Now it's time to clear things up with Ory.

Once back in Athletown, Oly will apologize to you and lets you keep the Gold Auraball. He will tell you that the linear car to Grandopolis - which will not have been running until this point - will be up and running again, allowing you to go there.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 22 of 25

In this entry, we fight our robot body doubles only to find out they're wicked strong, then head back to Kingland to get the most powerful sword in the game.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Head to the Inn to recover your health if you need to, then go down the stairs in the lower-right corner of the town. You'll finally meet your clones, who look exactly like Jack and Ryu to the point that their angry expressions look like they're barely painted on.

When you fight them, use Hyper Vision, as the red clones will be invisible. The red clones throw their heads at you, while the blue ones will extend their necks upwards. The latter attack is nasty, since it means that you have to jump up to hit them. The heads of the red clones can also explode, and while the explosion can hurt you, it can also hurt their fellow clones.

After killing enough of them, you'll find out that Fire Punch is not strong enough and that you will need an electric weapon to jam their computers. Once again, you will have to go to Kingland and talk to Dr. Justice.

Interestingly, this whole part is completely optional; you can get the Thunder Sword after getting the Fire Punch.

Talk to Dr. Justice. You will get the Thunder Sword, which is the most powerful sword in the game and leaves a nice lightning trail when you swing it in battle. Head back to Athletown and fight your clones again. This time, you'll be able to kill the clones and go on to explore the sewers of Athletown.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 21 of 25

We finally go to that walled off area that we've been seeing for the last few videos!

All maps by zagato blackfist.

The huge, walled off area is Futureland. There is a cave in the southwest corner. You'll want to land the ancient giant near it, then get in the cave.

This leads to another sequence where you will be doing a lot of running and jumping, and punching a few of those yellow blob enemies, too. Thankfully, it's pretty short.

From there, head west. You'll head to Computown.

Computown

Computown is the control center of Futureland, and if it destroyed, the whole kingdom will be paralyzed. You'll also find out that something is happening in Grandpolis, as the town has gotten no response from them.

There isn't much you can do here. If you need supplies, you can get them at the convenience store.

The building with the "S" sign next to it is the subway, which automatically takes you across Futureland. You'll meet some new enemies, such as flying snails that will fly from one side of the screen to the other and can be killed with a single somersault. You'll also meet apes with balls and chains, and they have too attacks: a simple swing with no range and a whip attack where the ball and chain goes a little further. Do not get too close to these guys, and if they do the simple swing upwards, get near and keep attacking. You'll attack them when they come out of the swing pose.

The apes will give you quite a lot of experience, so take the subway if you need to level up at this point in the game.

The football players somersault at you and give you the least amount of experience and Sen, but they are the easiest enemy to defeat.

You'll eventually stop at Athletown.

Athletown

When you come to this town, everyone will be angry with you or afraid of you. When you speak to Oly, the mayor of this competitive, athletic city, he will tell you to give him back the Gold Auraball. Jack and Ryu try to explain, but he doesn't want to hear any of it and tells you to get out.

Here, you can buy the Ninjarmor and BB Helmet, which is by far the strongest armor in the game. Magic Mine is yet another spell, and it works like a smart bomb in battle.

You will meet B.B. Virgo, one of the Celestials. Play her card game - only 100 sen - and if you get a higher card than her six times, she will give you Magic Wind. She will also tell you that your clones are hiding in this town, but your equipment is not strong enough. She will tell you to go to Horizon Gate to get more training.

Talk to Rick. Here, you'll learn how to use the Fire Punch if you can beat Rick in battle. Equip your sword, stay away from the eight-way fireballs he shoots at you, then get close and never stop swinging the sword. You'll be able to learn the Fire Punch.

From there, head back to Athletown.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 20 of 25

In this entry, we hunt for General Bismol in the sunken ship.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Sunken Ship

The ship isn't that big. It's also fairly straightforward. There is a wall you can use a Boo Bomb on near the start - indicated by the white butterfly bandage on it - that will take you to the lone chest in the ship, which contains a Ninja Turban. Free armor, and stronger than what you already have, too.

You'll meet some new enemies here: white fish men and green piranha men. The green piranha men fight much like the standard "walk forward and somersault" enemies you've seen, as do the white fish men. The white fish men can hold on to you and suck your energy out, however. If you take too long, a giant flying gorilla with an anglerfish's antenna will show up and move slowly from left to right, shooting in eight directions. You can either let it go about its business, or you can destroy it to get a load of experience. (If you take too long fighting smaller enemies, you can get one big one, and this can happen throughout the game. This is the first time we see something like this happen, though.)

There are also skeleton enemies on inner tubes who fly around. If you're strong enough, you can take them out in one hit with a single somersault. They also give great experience, so fight these guys if you need to.

The skeletons in the chest are your usual flying enemy, but they are pretty powerful if you're not prepared for them. Thankfully, you only need to face two of them.

The brown anglerfish samurais carry spears, which they spin for a brief moment before stabbing at you.

You'll eventually face off with General Bismol, who looks like a shark. He wans all the Auraballs, but that isn't happening Just like Nargi, you'll take him on RPG-style.

Bismol not only has a petrifying fire ring and a Spitprong that can damage both characters, but he also has an attack called the Peptodash. Sadly, it's pretty weak. He can also use Spiritizer to heal himself. Use Mighty Ball if you can, and if you run out of "M" icons, use the Feather Sword.

When you beat General Bismol, you'll get the Silver Auraball. Head back to Moo.j

Back at Moo, talk to King Atlant. He will thank you by telling you about the Auraballs, of which there are seven in various colors and have special powers. In the right hands, they can bring pease, but in the wrong ones, misery will cover the world. He will let you have the Silver Auraball after seeing you have five of them, and tells you that someone causing problems in Futureland. This is your next destination, and it is to the northeast.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 19 of 25

In this entry, we go to Ghoul Land, get the Feather Sword and face Nargi.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

There is an unreachable island with eight pillars and a staircase northwest of Arcadia Town. Call the giant, land there and go down the stairs. This is Ghoul Land.

Ghoul Land

One of the doors in the village area is discolored compared to the rest. Blow it up with a Boo Bomb. You'll be able to get Thunder Punch for 60,000 Sen and Hypnoblow for 200,000. These are the two strongest punches in the game, with Hypnoblow being the stronger of the two.

Both staircases to the north will take you to the same path.

The Ultimate Scroll explains how to beat Nargi. You will have to get the Feather Sword, which is in Horizon Gate, which is all the way back at the beginning of the game. Thankfully, it's behind the mountains north of Yokai, and you can easily land there.

Talk to Rick and you will get the Feather Sword...if you can complete the picture of his face. You'll be working from top to bottom and when you see a piece of his face, press A to get it to stay. When you complete the puzzle, you'll get the sword.

Now that you have the Feather Sword, head back to the sunken ship. You'll be able to fight Nargi. Strangely, you can attack Nargi with anything other than the Feather Sword, meaning that we just went through an invisible plot wall that the Feather Sword was needed to get past. Thankfully, the Feather Sword can also do a decent amount of damage Nargi is pretty strong, and can do heavy damage to both of your characters, so be sure to level up if you need to.

By beating Nargi, you'll get the Turtle Watch, which can be used to slow down enemies. You'll also be able to enter the Sunken Ship, where you will find General Bismol.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 18 of 25

In this entry, we find out that fighting Nargi isn't that easy, then go looking for a scroll to make it easier.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Now that you have the Sub-Cyclone, take the southern exit. You'll be able to travel under the sea.

Underwater

You'll meet new enemies, such as the crab enemies with pincers for hands and drill-like shells that can also be used as a dashing attack. If you need to level up, do it against these guys. They will take many hits to kill with the most powerful sword you can get, but you'll be able to get quite a bit of experience from them.

You'll also run into fish riding on starfish. These enemies are much like the pigs riding on the flies.

This area is slightly maze-like, but thankfully it's not that long at all. Your main goal is to head to the lower-right corner of the area, where you will come across a sunken ship. You can only enter the sunken ship from the south side. When you enter it, you'll face Nargi. His scales are so hard that your weapons will not work on him. You will suddenly be swallowed up by a whale, and you'll meet Whaleman, who sent the whale out to save you, fearing you would be defeated. Jack and Ryu say they could have defeated Nargi even though their weapons would not work due to Nargi's scales being too hard. Whaleman tells you of a scroll that tells you how to beat Nargi in Ghoul Land, which you'll need Mr. Slowpo's help to find.

You'll also get Magidoor, which allows you to exit dungeons without having to go all the way back to the exit on your own.

Inside Whale

You'll be inside the wall. Talk to Whaleman, and he will tell you to get behind him and stand near the north wall. This will allow you to control the whale. You can control the whale on the overworld much like the other vehicles you have used. Press B to return. At least you don't have to worry about fighting enemies with the whale.

You will need to return to Arcadia Town, then head to the northern mountains and go through that whole action sequence to talk to Mr. Slowpo again. Thankfully, the whale will wait for you.

When you meet Mr. Slowpo, he will tell you about Rockhedge, which will lead you to Ghoul Land. Only an ancient giant of Mt. Kyojin will take you there. From there, head to Mt. Kyojin and go through the entire action sequence there again. You'll find Dr. Archeo and the ancient giant, and the giant still moves. The watch he gave you earlier is the controller. Just give him the order through the microphone in the watch, and away he will go.

Press the Y button to use the ancient giant. You will be able to fly in the air and go just about anywhere. The only drawback is that you have to find a square of completely clear square of ground in order to land with the B button.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 17 of 25

In this entry, we travel to the underground kingdom of Moo, then get a submarine.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Head back to Arcadia Town and see Prince Lama. As a result of getting rid of the Pitts Gang, Prince Lama will give you the blue Auraball. He then tells you that a gate to the undersea city of Moo is at the pier near Temple Bayon.

To head there, you'll have to head back to Temple Bayon. There is a bridge north of the temple. Take it, then go northwest from there. You will find a semi-circle of rocks surrounding a castle in the water. This is Moo.

Moo

Here, you will learn about someone who controls the ferocious Nargi (a mistranslation of Naga, much like "Moo" is of "Mu"), and that Nargi is terrorizing the town and is also said to have been the one to send Moo to the bottom of the sea. You'll also learn about "The Ancient Giant," an amazing form of transportation created by the town's ancestors.

One of the buildings is the home of King Atlant, who will tell you that the Pitts Gang/Garlands have also made their way here and that General Bismol is controlling Nargi. Bismol also has the town's Auraball, having ransomed the fate of the town for it. King Atlantl will tell you there is a gate to the undersea world, which will be to the south. You will need a submarine, however, so it is back to Kingland to meet Dr. Justice...

The white pig enemies will try to grab onto you and sap your energy. If you fight them underwater and take too long, you'll eventually have to fight a winged one-eyed ape and deal with it until it either goes off-screen or you defeat it. This enemy is very powerful and can shoot eight-way fireballs that do a ton of damage.

Talk to Dr. Justice again. You'll be able to get the Sub-Cyclone, which will allow you to travel the undersea world. Go back to Moo.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 16 of 25

In this entry, we finally make it to Temple Bayon and take on the Pitts Gang.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Temple Bayon is southwest of Arcadia Town. Just follow the river in that direction and you will get there.

Temple Bayon

When you head down to Temple Bayon, you will meet Dr. Archeo. Jack and Ryu will ask him to drill a hole. He notices that the wall is not made of regular stones, but nevertheless he is able to help you get access.

You'll meet a new enemy here: a walking mini-temple. Thankfully you only have to fight one, since these guys can take a lot of abuse.

The alien enemies on the UFOs just show up in groups of three, teleport around and then shoot out projectiles when the teleportation finally stops. They can fire off their projectiles fairly quickly.

The paths here are pretty interesting, to say the least. At the start, take the upper left path, followed by the upper right path, followed by the left path. The upper left area leads to a key, while the upper right area leads to the Ninjarmor.

As you go for the treasures, you'll have to face enemies in order to get them. The battle with Tengoman starts a battle when guys in pink armor who take a lot of hits before going down. These guys will have an ax attack where they can throw an ax at you boomerang style pretty quickly, so as soon as you get close, start swinging.

Strawbear gives you silver guys with claws. They take substantially less damage than the pink guys, and they will swing their claws downwards at you once close enough. Do not let them stop; otherwise, you're gonna get whacked.

Sourface gives you a one-screen area where you fight a purple goblin who crawls on the ceiling and is always upside-down. Watch out for the next that he can throw, and hit him when he goes up and down in the air.

Coren is the strongest fighter of the Pitts Gang. You get another one-screen area again with conveyor belts walls and spike walls. Stay on the platforms in the middle of the room, and never get on the conveyor belt floors. Coren has an attack where he rolls around and changes the music. You cannot avoid it, and what it does is make your character flop around on the floor before lying down on the floor stunned for a few seconds. If you are on the conveyor belt floors when it happens, you will be pushed directly into a spike wall and you will die.

When you beat Sourface and Coren, you will get Ninja Claws and Lvl Counter 3.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 15 of 25

In this entry, we enter a cave south of Sea Town in our quest to get somewhere. Also, I go off-topic for once and it ends up being rather prescient later in the Let's Play.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

More backtracking! Way to break the flow of the game.

The manta ray can be easily defeated with the Boomerstar and the Miracle Kick.

South of Sea Town is a cave. This is not Mt. Kyojin, but rather an action scene where you will have to go from right to left, trying not to drown in the water. Be ready to make some long running jumps as you avoid puffer fish going up and down on the river. You'll then reach another island where you will have to enter another cave and enter another action scene. Here, avoid the spikes that drop down from the ceiling, and climb the ceiling to get to the end. If you hold Up while jumping, you can jump higher, which will help in case you're trying to grab onto the ceiling and .

Also, the pigs on the bees are back when you reach the other side. Yay.

The cave leads to a jungle, where you will have to avoid bats whenever possible and climb on and jump from vines. The music here is some of the best in the game so far.

You will find a stationary platform that you will have to step on to advance. Keep it on the screen at all the time, as it works much like the ferryman and will allow you to avoid some of the floor spikes.

You'll eventually enter a cavern area, where your ceiling climbing skills will be put to the test. There will be big spiked balls that will move up and down. You will have to use the Micro Ninja spell - which is exactly what the name implies and turns you into a tiny ninja - at a certain point yo get past the low overheads with the spikes.

You'll get another section of cavern. There is another Charon boat/ferryman/whatever at the beginning here, which, once again, you will have to keep on the screen at all times. Apparently the game really loves doing this kind of thing, and this time you'll most likely need the ferryman more than ever to avoid the Concentration and do all this platforming you just did all over again.

At the end, you will meet Dr. Archeo, who looks like an Eastern Island head. He says that he can break any kind of stone. He says there is a giant statue here, but he just can't find it. He hands you a watch that he found while digging, saying it is of no use to him. From here, head back to Arcadia Town.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 14 of 25

In this entry, we meet Mr. Slowpo, then we talk to Nostruedamus again.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Northern Mountains

The guys with the horned masks are slow to strike, which make them perfect for experience grinding.

If you head north to the mountains, you'll enter an action scene. You'll start by taking a Charon boat over a bottomless pit, fighting purple versions of the blob-like enemies you've come to expect from these action sequences. Once again, keep the ferryman on the screen at all times, and watch out for breakaway bridges and spikes. At the end, there is a game of Concentration, but you'll eventually meet Mr. Slowpo.

Mr. Slowpo will tell you that being slow is virtuous, and not to be hasty or else you will lose yourself. He will tell you to talk to Nostruedamus in Yokan for answers, and hands you the Serenitech. The Serenitech reduces your encounter rate, which means less monster fights for you. A rushing sound plays when it wears off. Unfortunately, it costs 20 MP and doesn't last for long.

The clam enemy is the standard teleporting, fireball-shooting enemy, and it is very swift to attack. Their

The fish men on the starfish can be hit with the Cyclone Kick (press Y and B together). From there, they'll just be regular fish men and you can take them down much like you do most enemies.

The guys with the shells on their head fight much like the Minotaurs and the skeleton pirates, but they tak a lot of hits before going down. They give a lot of experience and Sen,

Talk to Nostruedamus. He sees you drilling a hole in the temple with the help of a man who is now excavating something at Mt. Kyojin, and tells you to find that man there. He then hands you Micro Ninja, which you will need to get through it.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 13 of 25

After getting not one but two Auraballs for our troubles, we explore even more of the world and make our way to Arcadia Town.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Head back to Julia's house. He will tell you that the enemy wants his green Auraball, and that it contains some kind of superpower. Julia will donate a purple Auraball to the cause as well, Romel will also tell you that you will need a boat to get to Mysteryland. You will have to go back to Kingland and get a boat from Dr. Justice.

Talk to Dr. Justice. You'll get the Shark Cruiser. He will also tell you about a former sailor living on the east end of town who you can talk to for advice.

Remember that tent in the center of that island to the east of Kingland that was connected by two bridges? Go over there again and talk to the old man. He will tell you how to go to Mystery Land. All you have to do is take a boat from a landing in front of a cave and go south along the land. Then, go east in the direction of Edo City. Mysteryland will be on the island of Tamari where Edo is located.

If you see rocks in the shape of arrows, you will need to go in the direction they point.

Along the way, you will face a manta ray-like enemy. These enemies are much like the witches in the way that they get stuck in the floors and walls. They will move back and forth and toss its body segments down at you like bombs (and can also unintentionally hurt itself with). You can use the Reflexstar, but you're better off using the sword. These enemies will also give you more experience than any other enemies you've met so far.

There is also a fish man enemy. They just move towards you, but they can crowd around you in numbers fast. At least they give good Sen and experience.

You'll eventually make your way to a staircase that leads to Sea Town.

Sea Town

Here, you'll learn that there is a river to the east, and if you go along the riverside, you'll see Arcadia Town, which is the biggest town in Mystery Land.

The gold robot-looking enemies can be numerous, but they are no more difficult than their previous palette-swapped counterparts.

The pigs on the bees can be taken off their rides with a somersault jump, then taken down with a sword like normally.

The brown guys on the blue pterodactyls fly around and toss spears downward.

The guy on the pterodactyl isn't as aggressive as previous flying enemies, but they can still do damage to you.

The rock statue guys take quite a few hits to take down, but they give very good experience and money when defeated

Thankfully, getting to Arcadia Town isn't all that hard. All you have to do is go east.

You'll meet more enemies here, such as green guys with black, demonic masks with horns on the side. They somersault a lot, but at least they don't throw their heads at you and give quite a bit of experience.

You'll eventually see a river to the south. When you do, follow it. When you see a bridge to the west, take it. To the south is Arcadia Town.

Arcadia Town

If you need the Ingot Armor, Technoglove or Mystical Sword for whatever reason, you can get them here. Also available is the Boomerstar, which makes for bigger projectiles than the T-Star.

You'll find out that there are strong enemies nearby and that the town is having a tough time with them, as they have occupied the nearby Temple Bayon and now have four powerful fighters.

You'll also learn that a man named Mr. Slowpo lives somewhere in Mysteryland. He may be a flake, but he knows many things. If you head north to the mountains, you will find him.

Mt. Kyojin is accessible from the cape south of Sea Town, but it is supposedly haunted.

You'll eventually meet Prince Lama of Anca at the castle. He will tell you that Anca is at war with the Pitts Gang, who are holding hostage Temple Bayon. He asks you to recapture it. The Pitts Gang are really the Galands, so naturally Jack and Ryu lend a hand. You'll find out that Temple Bayon is located down south by the river.

Lama will tell you that the front door is closed, and that you will have to see Mr. Slowpo to get it open.

Looks like Project-3F was a plot after all! We take on yet another boss.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

You'll eventually come across a door. It leads to a factory where the nasty odor comes from...and it's poisonous gas! You'll find out that King Romel is making this gas, and that this isn't the real King Romel: it's General Konk of the Dark Bombers, a powerful member of the Galands in disguise. Project-3F is a mere cover-up used to deceive Julia and spread the gas all the world where it will eventually be set off and exploded. He will also tell you that Bongoman was also a member of the Dark Bombers, and while Bongoman was defeated, he will not be. That will soon change...

The fight with General Konk is another RPG-style battle. The Mighty Ball will make for a good attack to use against him.

Darter-Z can do a quite a bit of damage, as can the Dark Volt. Konk Gallop can also attack both Jack and Ryu, but it only has half the power. Nevertheless, you will want to keep your health high, especially when General Konk can has a good chance of dodging your attacks. It can be a tough battle, but you'll be able to do it and get the Green Auraball.

Once you beat General Konk, you'll meet the real King Romel, and give him the present from Princess Julia. It is a wedding ring. He will ask you to come to Fairy Town.

I stop at Satoon to rest and heal, though. That will be for next time.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 11 of 25

In this entry, we finally make it to Satoon, but not all is well in the town.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

West of the cave where Miss Fanny was located is another set of action scenes. Here, your platforming skills will be put to the test, and you'll be jumping from one sinking skull to another, avoiding water and climbing up walls when necessary. Watch out for spiky fish that jump out of the water as you near the end of the first section.

Parts of the bridges in the second section fall away when you put your weight on them. You'll also see Charon on his boat, too. You'll have to keep him on your screen at all times, as he will pass through walls and you'll need him to get through most of the section.

At the end of the second section, use the log platform to rocket over the spikes. You can either choose to play the concentration game at the end and replay the entire area, or you can go straight to the end. Your choice.

You'll eventually be back at the world map. To the north is Satoon.

Satoon

When you make it into town, you'll find out that all the inhabitants are ghosts. You'll also learn that since Project-3F started, King Romel has shut himself in the Ghost Castle, and does not visit the people anymore.

Another ghost will tell you that King Romel has changed for the worse. You'll also learn that King Romel's castle is to the north, and blocked by acidic water that cannot be crossed with a normal boat, and that a strong odor is emanating from it that is making the inhabitants of the town tired. You'll also need a present from Princess Julia to bring to King Romel.

Here, you'll be able to buy the Mystical Sword and Technoglove if you want to upgrade your sword and punch items, respectively. Do yourself a favor: don't but the Mystical Sword, as you will find something stronger than that very, very soon. Also, the item shop here does not sell Dragon Eggs, which is a pain in the butt.

When you go to the end of the bridge north of the town, you will automatically use the kite machine to fly to the other side. From here, you can enter the castle. But before you can get there, you'll have to go through an action stage that takes you over a collapsible bridge before you go through a more technological area where you'll have to jump and climb around while avoiding spikes. Leap off the right edge of the platform at the start of this second stage so you don't jump into the stage. You'll also have to get some parts of a bridge to come down so you can drop down and finish the area, where you can also play a game of Concentration at the end, if you wish.

Finally, you can enter the castle.

Ghost Castle

The path to the right shortly after you go north at the beginning takes you to a guy who tells you that King Romel has recently mastered a magic called "Shadow Shield." Because of that, he avoids light as well as Hyper Vision.

You'll meet two new enemies: ghosts with rings tied around their necks and skeletons wearing armor. The skeletons fight much like the pig enemies and can drop swords, and the ghosts move around in groups of three.

Walking down the stairs leading to the water lets you move around in it. If you reach another set of stairs, you'll be back on dry land. If you get into any fights while in water areas, you will be underwater in the battle scenes, and there will be water physics during these battles that make you slower and more floaty.

Speaking of getting out of the water, when you do that on the north side of the lower area, there will be a break in the wall. Use a Boo Bomb on it to open up a path to the treasure chest. You will want to make your way to the chest that is here, as it contains the Ninja Saber. This is more powerful than the Mystical Sword from Satoon's item shop, and even better, it's free.

Another new enemy you'll meet is the vampire. It's yet another flying enemy that flies around, dives at you and drops bombs downward.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 10 of 25

It's time to head beyond Kingland. How I managed to get no random battles, I will never know.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

Kingland

Go back to where you met Dr. Justice. He will give you the Kite Machine to travel to King Romel's castle, which is due north across the mountains from Fairy Land.

You'll start meeting some new enemies on the way there such as pigs riding giant bugs. Use the Moonsault Kick (the somersault) to knock them off their bugs, then attack them like you would normally.

You'll also meet a Minotaur enemy. These guys will shoot fireballs from far away, and can also turn themselves into giant flames that fly towards you. Basically, they fight much like the skeleton-looking guys with the guitars from earlier in the game. Stay away from pits as you take them on.

Another new enemy is the witch, who is just barely hanging on to her broomstick. Use the Miracle Kick to take them out. Also, these enemies can get stuck fairly often, but they can get themselves unstuck. They can also shoot lightning downwards, and they can even hit you while you're trying to attack them. Thankfully, you only have to kill one.

Yet another new enemy is a wolf enemy with a bandanna. You will need the Hyper Vision - which costs 5 NP to use - to see these guys, as they are invisible. These guys attack by throwing their heads at you, which can be pretty nasty. If they latch on, you can shake off by mashing buttons on the Control Pad. I would recommend avoiding them, as they are one of the harder battles and they can easily overpower you. Use De Tecoy and Miracle Kick to make this battle easier.

Somehow I luck out and get no random battles, and the enemies that I just mentioned will show up in the next video.

You'll reach a lake, where you'll be able to use the boat. Take the bridge to the east to continue on. You'll eventually come across a cave where you will meet Miss Finny, who will want to fight you. If you win, she will give you "De Tecoy." You'll then fight a different witch enemy that floats around, dives at you and throws bombs. She will fight much like the green goblins that throw the rock at you. Unlike the witches from this area, she is a lot easier to fight. The "De Tecoy" will produce a decoy that will distract enemies so you can more easily beat them up.

You'll eventually come across a cave to the west of where we fought Miss Fanny. That will be for next time...

Our task to see the invisible takes us to the Tower of Belba, where we must pass a test to receive Hyper Vision.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

It's time to head to the Tower of Belba. Unfortunately, you'll have to go quite a distance counterclockwise from Celestern to get there. When you get to the river west of Celestern, do not go south; that leads to a dead end. Go north instead.

Tower Of Belba

You've got yourself a bit of a maze here. Start by taking the stairs to the left.

If you get the robots with the rocket arms combined with the three-eyed guys, stick to your fists. If you can get the explosions from the rocket arms to hit other enemies, so much the better. You're better off ignoring the three-eyed guys

When you reach the fourth floor, you'll see two sets of vases. Drop into the pair to the right. The other set will take you back to the start. From there, you could exit the tower, but if you want to get the Hyper Vision, you'll have to take the stairs to the left of where you dropped down from.

To beat the guys on the magic carpet, just jump on them, then fight them like you would the guys with the rocket arms.

You'll eventually find a door which takes you to the magician, Airosche. This will take you to an action scene. The light brown platforms will sink when you step on them, so make your move quickly. You'll also see the conveyor belt sand from the battle scenes in the desert areas here, too. Watch your shadow as you go up the steps. From here, you can play the concentration game at this point if you want.

The orange P blocks give you items.

When you make it through this short side-scrolling action segment, you'll finally get Hyper Vision. After this, Airosche will look into her crystal ball. She will see King Romel of Satoon deceiving Lady Julia. She will also tell you that King Romel's castle is in the acid water where a regular boat won't be able to work. You will have to meat a famous scholar in Kingland who has a better vehicle, so you'll want to go there first and talk to Dr. Justice.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 8 of 25

Our journey takes us to the desert town of Celestern, where it becomes obvious that we have some more work to do if we want to see invisible enemies.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

The Mighty Ball uses a few M icons and creates a screen-wide damage bomb that does good damage to all enemies if you punch the ball; the Ninja Cyclone allows you to jump into enemies and knock them into the sky never to return.

When you talk to Julia now, she will think you for bringing her father back from the tower. She then says she wants to send an Errandbot with her message of love to King Romel in Satoon, but the path to Satoon is full of invisible monsters. Jack and Ryu agree to escort him to town. Before you leave, Julia will tell you to go south over a desert and visit the town of Celestern before going over to Satoon. Here, you will find the Hyper Vision, which allows you to see the invisible monsters.

To go to Celestern, take the same path you took to go to Fairy Tower, but instead of going south at the large forest, go east instead. You'll see a bridge that takes you to desert. At the southern end is the town of Celestern.

On the sand, you'll meet some new enemies. You'll find enemies that look like men wearing white turbans who are really another palette swap of the robot enemies we've seen throughout the game that is the strongest you'll see yet. The turban enemies have robotic fists that they can shoot at you, and the best way to beat them is to somersault into them with the B button or the Miracle Kick (and maybe even punching at them as they are about to get up) and also continuously jumping around so the explosions don't touch you. The jumping around is especially important, as the desert floor will act as a continuous conveyor belt that pushes you to the left. Fighting in the desert can be tough, as the shifting sands carry you to the left as you stand on the ground. You'll have to keep jumping to the right to catch up with enemies and take them down, and you cannot even move up or down on it unless you are in mid-air. This can make battles against even enemies that you have already fought before more difficult.

Celestern

You'll learn from the people here that the town of Celestern is dedicated to studying magic. You'll also learn about a master magician in the Tower of Belba, as well as the powerful punch known as Hypnoblow, which can be earned at the Medal Exchange.

Here, you can by the Rapid Shot, Iron Turban and Ingot Armor to upgrade your equipment. If you need a Meat Bun, you can find one here.

One of the houses is the home of Scheherazade from The Magic of Scheherazade, an NES game by Culture Brain. She will tell you that Airosche, the wizard at the Tower of Belba, has Hyper Vision, but you will have to undergo her training, which will not be easy.

You'll find out from one of the townspeople that the Tower of Belba is to the south. You'll also learn that one of the vases in the 4th floor there leads to something good.

There is a Medal Exchange mini-game to the right of the Convenience Store.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 7 of 25

Our adventure takes us to the Fairy Tower, where we need to reconcile an argument between father and daughter and find an Errandbot for a special project.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

.
West of Kingland has more powerful enemies. You'll meet gray and blue versions of the robot enemies who strike with nunchaku, as well as red smiling elves in armor who will shoot at you with bows and arrows. The pigs and red elves will only shoot at you if you are lined up with them, so be ready to sidestep when you need to. You'll also meet armored boars with shields who can spit fireballs at you. Use the Epee Saber on them to do maximum damage, and hit them before they can punch you.

It won't be long until you reach Fairy Town.

Fairy Town

There is only an inn and a Convenience Store here, but there is some info you can get here, such as the fact that Princess Julia is in love with King Romel, and that the town is working on Project-3F, which is a parcel delivery service.

One of the houses contains Princess Julia. He says that her stubborn father is against Project-3F, which was started with King Romel, and because of that, he shuts himself in the Fairy Tower. An Errandbot that they developed for the project was taken away, misunderstood by her father. Not surprisingly, Jack and Ryu agree to head to the tower and talk with him.

The tower is southwest, after you go south from town. Also, you'll learn to meet Miss Finny if you make your way to Satoon.

There is a convenience store here; do not enter it, for if you die, you won't have a store to buy stuff from in case you need to refill on enemies. Keep it so that the last convenience store you go to is in Kingland.

It's time to head to the Fairy Tower, which is to the southwest of Fairy Town.

Fairy Tower

The Errandbot will allow you to buy stuff without having to go to a town. This is very useful if you have plenty of money and you need to buy supplies badly. Unfortunately, you'll have to pay double the price for any items that you seriously need.

You'll also find a chest containing a Meat Bun. The Meat Bun will restore all of your health, and unlike other items, which you can carry up to nine of, you can only have one Meat Bun in your possession at all times.

To find the Errandbot, all you need to do is take the stairs going up to the east of the entrance and follow the path from there. When you meet him, you'll find out that he is the robot from Project 3F that was taken away to the tower.

The other path leads to Julia's father. If you take the Errandbot path first (which you'll want to do since Errandbot can prove useful), you'll have to go back to the beginning of the tower to take the other path.

You'll meet a new enemy: a green, winged goblin who holds a rock over its head. Watch out for the rocks it throws down, which create flame pillars when they hits the ground. This enemy can also dive downwards. Jump up and hit these guys with your sword, then move a little bit to the side, and be careful on the stairs - if you fall off them, you'll be dead. You can also use the Miracle Kick at the cost of a few NP instead of a jumping sword strike, which is a lot safer. To perform it, just press A and then move towards the enemy with the Control Pad to hit them. It looks like the somersault, but you'll hear an "A-cha!" sound when you perform it.

Another new enemy you will meet is a blue-robed version of the enemies that shoot in eight directions, who also have a third eye that pops out when hit.

When you meet Julia's father, he will tell you that Project 3F is fishy, and tells you that King Romel of Satoon does not seem like he used to be. When told that Project 3F is a freight system, he finally snaps out of it and heads home. Before he leaves, he gives you the Magiport, yet another spell for the magic collection. This spell takes you to the last Convenience Store that you used. Unfortunately, it does not work in dungeons; it can only be used on the world map, and even moving into the door can be a bit iffy and it is still possible to get into a potential battle, forcing you to cast Magiport again.

PrinceWatercress plays Super Ninja Boy - Part 6 of 25

Now that the warriors in Edo City are active again, it's time to head for Satoon, but first, we check out the town of Kingland.

All maps by zagato blackfist.

From here, head back to Edo City. Once again, you'll have to take the long way to get out of Mt. Wasabi and head back to town. Thankfully, you don't have to do any of the side scrolling sections again on the way back.

When you talk to the townspeople, they will be more active again.

Head back to the palace and see King Toro. He will congratulate you for making the town more active again, and says Princess Tamago is in love with you. He will tell you that long ago, he saw an Auraball in a town known as Satoon. Princess Tamago will tell you that you will need a hoverboat to get there, and will give you one. You now have the "Arc-De-Travel." King Toro will ask you to talk to Emperor Chin for more info on Satoon. Be sure to use the inn and save your game before you leave town.

When you talk to Emperor Chin, he'll tell you that Satoon is to the west and that you'll see Fairy Land on the way there.

Once you leave, head to the west. Walk on the rocks in the water, and you'll instantly use the Arc-De-Travel. As long as you are on it, you will not have any random encounters with enemies. Once you make it to dry land on the other side, you'll be off the Arc-De-Travel and back on foot.

Once you're on dry land, you'll want to continue west. You'll eventually come across a tent consisting of an old couple and their daughter. You won't learn much there, though. Keep going west, and you'll come across a new town. This is the town of Kingland.

Kingland

You'll learn from talking to the townspeople that horrible evil lives in Satoon, and that the town used to attack Kingland a long time ago. Thanks to King Romel, however, Satoon have never attacked them. You'll also hear of a Princess Julia, and learn that Fairy Town is west of Kingland and has a beautiful princess.

You'll also meet Dr. Justice. who is currently in the hotel.

At the shop, you'll be able to get LV Counter 2, the Sterling Helmet, the Epee Saber, the Sterling Gear and Reflextar. The LV Counter 2 lets you get info on more powerful enemies, while the Reflextar is a more powerful version of T-Star.

At the castle, you'll meet King Ashur. He'll tell you that King Romel has kept the monsters of Satoon from attacking the town since he started ruling it, and thinks highly of him, saying Romel is as good as he is. The queen does not say much, however.
