In this entry, we finally meet King Romel, and find out that not everything is as it seems...
All maps by zagato blackfist.
West of the cave where Miss Fanny was located is another set of action scenes. Here, your platforming skills will be put to the test, and you'll be jumping from one sinking skull to another, avoiding water and climbing up walls when necessary. Watch out for spiky fish that jump out of the water as you near the end of the first section.
Parts of the bridges in the second section fall away when you put your weight on them. You'll also see Charon on his boat, too. You'll have to keep him on your screen at all times, as he will pass through walls and you'll need him to get through most of the section.
At the end of the second section, use the log platform to rocket over the spikes. You can either choose to play the concentration game at the end and replay the entire area, or you can go straight to the end. Your choice.
You'll eventually be back at the world map. To the north is Satoon.
Satoon
When you make it into town, you'll find out that all the inhabitants are ghosts. You'll also learn that since Project-3F started, King Romel has shut himself in the Ghost Castle, and does not visit the people anymore.
Another ghost will tell you that King Romel has changed for the worse. You'll also learn that King Romel's castle is to the north, and blocked by acidic water that cannot be crossed with a normal boat, and that a strong odor is emanating from it that is making the inhabitants of the town tired. You'll also need a present from Princess Julia to bring to King Romel.
Here, you'll be able to buy the Mystical Sword and Technoglove if you want to upgrade your sword and punch items, respectively. Do yourself a favor: don't but the Mystical Sword, as you will find something stronger than that very, very soon.
When you go to the end of the bridge north of the town, you will automatically use the kite machine to fly to the other side. From here, you can enter the castle. But before you can get there, you'll have to go through an action bridge that takes you over a collapsible bridge before you go through a more technological area where you'll have to jump and climb around while avoiding spikes. You'll also have to get some parts of a bridge to come down so you can drop down and finish the area, where you can also play a game of Concentration at the end, if you wish.
Finally, you can enter the castle.
Ghost Castle
The path to the right shortly after you go north at the beginning takes you to a guy who tells you that King Romel has recently masterd a magic called "Shadow Shield." Because of that, he avoids light as well as Hyper Vision.
You'll meet two new enemies: ghosts with rings tied around their necks and skeletons wearing armor. The skeletons fight much like the pig enemies and can drop swords, and the ghosts move around in groups of three.
Walking down the stairs leading to the water lets you move around in it. If you reach another set of stairs, you'll be back on dry land. If you get into any fights while in water areas, you will be underwater in the battle scenes. Thankfully, it doesn't really change anything.
Speaking of getting out of the water, when you do that on the north side of the lower area, there will be a break in the wall. Use a Boo Bomb on it to open up a path to the treasure chest. You will want to make your way to the chest that is here, as it contains the Ninja Saber. This is more powerful than the Mystical Sword from Satoon's item shop, and even better, it's free.
Another new enemy you'll meet is the vampire. It's yet another flying enemy that flies around, dives at you and drops bombs downward.
You'll eventually come across a door. It leads to a factory where the nasty odor comes from...and it's poisonous gas! You'll find out that King Romel is making this gas, and that this isn't the real King Romel: it's General Konk of the Dark Bombers, a powerful member of the Galands in disguise. Project-3F is a mere cover-up used to deceive Julia and spread the gas all the world where it will eventually be set off and exploded. He will also tell you that Bongoman was also a member of the Dark Bombers, and while Bongoman was defeated, he will not be. That will soon change...
The fight with General Konk is another RPG-style battle. The Mighty Ball will make for a good attack to use against him.
Darter-Z can do a quite a bit of damage, as can the Dark Volt. Konk Gallop can also attack both Jack and Ryu, but it only has half the power. Nevertheless, you will want to keep your health high, especially when General Konk can has a good chance of dodging your attacks. It can be a tough battle, but you'll be able to do it and get the Green Auraball.
Once you beat General Konk, you'll meet the real King Romel, and give him the present from Princess Julia. It is a wedding ring. He will ask you to come to Fairy Town.
