HCBailly plays Soul Blazer - Part 3 of 33

In this episode, we nearly get extorted on the quest for goat food and we use the Dream Rod for the first time.

Underground Castle

The second part of the castle is more of a maze. Some of the corridors are conveyor belts.

The architect will create a stair leading up the mountains in the highlands when you release his soul. If you talk to him in the Grass Valley Highlands, he'll you that he built all the houses in the town, and will ask you to come back later so he can show you something.

To take care of the two monster lairs that are side by side, simply stand in the center, face north and swing your sword. You'll release another ivy ladder as well as the tool shop owner's son. The tool shop owner's son will sell you some goat's food...or rather, extort you for it. The kid (whose name is Teddy, a reference to the energetic boy from Bloodpool in ActRaiser) gets scolded, and the tool shop owner will give it to you for free.

At one point, you'll come across a monster soul full of fly enemies. When you step on the monster lair once it's empty, you'll spawn another one full of flies. You'll do this not once, not twice, but three times. When you step on the fourth one, you'll release another goat and have plenty of experience and gems to show for it.

You'll release another tulip as you go further into the maze.

By pressing and holding a certain direction towards a wall, you can move the magician's soul in the direction you want. This will let you torch enemies from out of nowhere with your fireball.

You'll also release another old man. When you release his ghost, you'll find out that he is being haunted by a ghost. The blue jewel near where you release him contains a fairy that will you tell you that you will meet main monster who cannot be defeated with your current sword. When that happens, you'll have to return to the area with the correct sword.

Grass Valley Highlands

The tulip north of the Underground Castle entrance will tell you about the Dream Rod and how it works. Just equip it before talking to someone who is sleeping.

One of the goats will tell you the Chief was swallowed up in one of the paintings in the house on the hill. Another goat, if you have the goat's food, will tell you about the painting if you give the goat the food. You must equip an item which used to belong to the paint and touch the painting. The goat then heads to the tool shop, and if you follow it there, it will demand more goat's food.

The old man screaming in the house will tell you about a painting by Dr. Leo that suddenly has a strange face. You'll have to find something to enter the painting. There is also a painting of the village chief on the other end of the house, and he looks sad. The tulip nearby will ask who placed the boundary between dreams and reality, as what happens in dreams come true in reality.

Equip the Dream Rod before talking to Lisa. You'll end up in a dream version of the Underground Castle, and if you talk to her, she'll ask where her father is. Walk up to the emptied Monster Lair and stand on it to open a path in real life. You'll also hear a voice telling Lisa to explain to you what happened, and to give you the paintbrush. Talk to Lisa, and you'll be back in town. She'll wake up and tell you to leave. When you do, she apologizes for yelling and tells you to come back. Talk to Lisa, and she'll tell you she hid the paintbrush somewhere. If you can find it, you can have it.
