PrinceWatercress plays The Pirates of Dark Water - Part 2 of 8

In this entry, we see our first traps and see if we can use them to our advantage. Also, we see Konk for the first time, and it's not going to be the last, either.

Atani Palace

There are some stalactites that will be in your way as you go through the first section of the level, and you can also corner your enemies against them to keep them from getting away. As always, watch out for those instant-death pits.

Speaking of pits, there is a 1-Up behind the stalagmite in the middle of the floor right after the first pit. It should also be mentioned that items hidden in items that you have to attack to get rid of are random. Sometimes it'll be an item that gives you points, other times, they could hide some meat or another food that can heal you a little bit.

The skull with the holes around it is a spike trap. While it should be very obvious that you should not walk up to it, it doesn't hurt to get your enemies to touch it, either, as the traps in this game can hurt enemies.

Watch the sides of the screen; you never know when there will be rocks at you from out of nowhere.

You'll see buildings in the distance as you approach the end of the first section. As you see them, watch the shadows so you do not get hit by falling rocks.

The fire will hurt, so don't touch it. Much like the spike traps, it will also hurt enemies. The steak (should you find it) will fully restore your health. It should be behind one of the columns.

Sometimes, you'll see enemies show up in the foreground and then jump into the battlefield. You won't be able to attack them until they show up.

The boss here is Konk. He is small, but he is also very fast and he will throw boomerangs at you. Your best bet of doing damage is to walk up to him and hit him with a Y-Y-Y-X combo. By beating this stage, you'll get the 1st Treasure of Rule.
