HCBailly plays Final Fantasy IV (Super Famicom) - Part 23 of 70

We're in the castle...now the real fun begins.

Baron Castle

We're now in the castle...but what do we do now?

First off, follow the west side of the moat. You'll find a door that lets you get into the castle grounds. From there, you can enter Cecil's tower to the north to enter the bed to heal your party.

You'll then want to make your way to the throne room. When you make your way to the first floor, you'll be met by Beigan, Captain of the Guards. You'll find out that Beigan has yet to be controlled by King Baron, and that he and some guards tried to rescue Cid only for all of his men to be destroyed. Beigan then joins your party for all of ten seconds before Palom and Porom reveal that Beigan is a monster who is really serving Golbez willingly.

You'll then face Beigan. Beigan has three parts to him: his body, his right arm and his left arm. You must destroy the body first. If you defeat his arms first, they will eventually regenerate. Also, if you do not defeat the arms quickly enough, the arms will explode and deal a hellacious amount of damage.

Use powerful magic spells such as Bio and use the Dancing Knife/Dancing Dagger as an item on the body and arms. Make sure that Yang uses Strengthen before attacking. If Beigan casts Reflect, you won't be able to cast spells on his body anymore. Thankfully, the left arm has about 700 HP.

Interestingly, you can still use Quake on Beigan after he uses Reflect to do massive damage on him.

You'll eventually meet King Baron in the throne room. You'll find out that the king is a monster and that the monster killed the real king. The fake king then turns into Cagnazzo, the water demon and one of the Four Fiends.

Cagnazzo raises a wall of water around him, and if you attack him with just about any attack while he has that wall up, he will hit everyone with a devastating Wave attack. Instead, you'll want to hit him with a weak lightning spell to destroy the barrier, then you can keep hitting him with whatever you have. Tellah's Bolt 3 will decimate Cagnazzo if you can set it off while the barrier is down.

When you beat Cagnazzo, Cid will barge into the throne room only to find out Cagnazzo has been beaten. After finding out that Rosa has been kidnapped, he wants to spring into action. Cid's personality also gets him in an argument with Tellah when he demands the party uses the airship, and Porom has to separate both men and introduce everyone else to Cid.

Cid then reveals that he has hidden the new model of airship so that nobody could take advantage of it, and everyone heads over to the hiding place. In the room before the throne room, however, all the doors lock and the walls start to close in as Cagnazzo's spirit tries to take the party with him...
