HCBailly plays Final Fantasy IV (Super Famicom) - Part 17 of 70

In this entry, we head to Mt. Ordeals in an attempt to make Cecil a paladin.

The Mountain of Ordeals is east of Mysidia.

Palom has Black magic, while Porom has White magic. Twin Magic allows for a powerful magical attack from both characters. It will cast either Little Meteor or Little Flare. Little Meteor does not suffer from split damage caused by targeting multiple enemies, but Little Flare does (even though Little Flare is more powerful). Both attacks cause the twins to cast spells at the same time, and uses MP from both twins. However, it takes longer to pull the attack off. Palom has Strengthen, which allows his Black Magic to be slightly more powerful for a turn for battle. They will not be very powerful, but as they stronger, they can be amazing in battle. Porom has Fake Tears, which increases the party's ability to run from battle.

Chocobo Forest

South of the Mountain of Ordeals is another Chocobo Forest. There is another Gysahl Greens in the same place as last time. Be sure to cure with Porom and talk to a White Chocobo to refill her MP, then ride to the Mountain of Ordeals.

Mount Ordeals/Mountain of Ordeals

When you enter the Mountain of Ordeals, the path will be blocked by a wall of fire. Palom will cast Blizzard on the wall of fire, getting it out of the way, then brag about it. Porom hits him for not being humble.

After this, you get a cutscene where Kain and Golbez watch over a tied-up Rosa. Golbez calls out Scarmiglione, and commands him to get rid of Cecil on the Mountain of Ordeals before he becomes a Paladin. Scarmiglione leaves, then Kain warns Golbez not to take Cecil lightly. Golbez reminds him that Scarmiglione is one of the Four Fiends of the Elements, and that he is competent enough to take care of Cecil. Nevertheless, Kain wants to kill Cecil, but Golbez tells him to watch Rosa as he did not get the job done at Fabul.

There are undead enemies in the Mountain of Ordeals, suchs as the Zombies, Ghouls and Revenants, but they can easily be taken care of by single-targeting them with Flame Rods. Be sure to keep both Palom and Porom in the front row. If you need to, use a Bomb Fragment or a Copper Hourglass to take care of enemies if things get rough. Do not use Dark Wave or Cecil's sword; they will be very useless.

The BloodyBones and the Liliths are both weak to fire, as are the rest of the undead enemies, which are all also weak to the Holy elemental.
