Man, Mysidia really hates us, huh? Well, it's not all bad. The village elder is forgiving and willing to help us, and we get some unexpected allies.
The people at the bar in the inn hate you, and if you talk to the barkeep, he will give you a drink that is laced with poison. Sadly, you'll have to use an Antidote to cure Poison.
The dancer at the bar will put you to sleep, throw you out and turn you into a pig if you talk to her. An old woman will make fun of you afterwards.
At the north end of town is the House of Prayers, where the elder of Mysidia lives. The black mage that accompanies the elder is not very forgiving towards Cecil. There are bookshelves, and you can see very brief contents of the books inside if you interact with them.
Talk to the Elder. Cecil will tell the Elder about what happened that caused the attack, and asks for forgiveness. The Elder says that even if he does get forgiveness, it will not bring back the people that he murdered. He still considers listening to what Cecil has to say, as he sees a faint glimmer of light within Cecil that he has not seen before.
Cecil then talks about what has led him here to Mysidia, then the elder tells him that as long as he relies on the dark sword, he cannot defeat true evil. He tells Cecil that his soul is stained by the darkness of his deeds, and that he could eventually become as evil as the man he seeks. The elder then asks Cecil to go to Mt. Ordeals in the east if he wants his faint glimmer to become a radiant light as well as to save Rosa. There, he must be bathed in purifying light of redemption at the summit, denounce the dark sword and become a Paladin. Many have tried, but died in the process.
Since Cecil's sword will have little effect on the monsters there, he tasks two young magicians, Palom and Porom, with accompanying Cecil to the summit. Porom shows up on time, but Palom teleports on in. Porom is a bit polite, but Palom is a bit more arrogant and direct. As a matter of fact, Porom and even the Elder have to tell him to straighten up and be polite, making them almost like comic reliefs at times. They both join the party.
While shopping around in Mysidia, go get five Echo Herbs to cure the Silence status, since you will need them coming up. Also, get two Flame Rods - one for Palom, one for Porom - as the enemies coming up will be weak to Fire and the Rod's version of Fire 1 will do wonders against them. They also increase Wisdom by 3. Have 50 Holy Arrows and the Crossbow on hand for Palom to give her a better physical attack. Get Triangle Hats, Gaea Robes and Silver Rings for Palom and Porom.
There is other equipment at the Armor Shop, but you have to become a Paladin to use it. Go buy it if you have the money anyway.
