HCBailly plays Final Fantasy IV (Super Famicom) - Part 26 of 70

Our adventures take us to Toroia, where we hear of an adversary known as the Dark Elf.

At this point, only Tellah should be in the back row; everyone else should be in the front row.

In the J2E Translation, the little person, pig and frog in front of the weapon and armor shops who dance when you talk to the pig are called "The Mithril Boys" and are obviously a Backstreet Boys reference.

From here, you want to go northeast of Baron to the town of Toroia. It's difficult to miss; it's the town and castle surrounded by a lake and dense forest.

Toroia Castle

The guards will tell you to talk to the clerics in the castle if you are here to talk about the crystal. You'll also find out a survivor from Damcyan washed ashore recently, claiming he was the prince of Damcyan.

Inside the inner chamber, you will learn that the Earth Crystal was stolen by the Dark Elf. Should it fall into the wrong hands, the earth will fall apart. Also, if you equip metal weapons and armor in the cave to the northeast in an attempt to get it, you won't be able to move. You'll learn that the Dark Elf is weak against metal weapons, and that the Dark Elf increased the gravitational field in the cave in order to defend that weakness. If you can retrieve the Earth Crystal, the clerics will lend it to you.

If you go left from the entry room and follow the path, you'll find Edward resting in bed. Sadly, he is no longer able to fight, since he is badly weakened as a result of the shipwreck. He also blames his weakness for Anna's death. After everyone gets Edward up to speed, Edward hands Cecil a mysterious plant known as the Echoer, then you'll be able to leave the room.

If you go to the right from the entry room, there are a few stairways on the other end. There is a treasure room to the left, but you won't be able to enter it yet. The middle stairway leads to a Bacchus' Wine in one of the jars. The right stairway leads to some treasure. Hit the floor panel to open the first chamber, and you'll open the next two by going in and out of it. You'll open the fourth by going into the second chamber. Here, you'll find two Tents, two Hi-Potions, two Ethers and two Ruby Rings.

You can enter the pools with the frogs via a secret passage hidden by the castle walls, but the frogs don't tell you much of anything.
