HCBailly plays Final Fantasy II - Part 30 of 44

Our quest continues in a cave near Mysidia, where we hunt for the Crystal Rod!

All maps by Paco, except for the overworld map by Rick Bruns.

Black Mask Cave

The DeathGod item casts Fear 10 on all enemies in the battle.

When you reach the room with the Black Mask, you'll face Big Horn, the Black Mask's guardian.

If you've powered up Toad or Mini, use it on Big Horn. You'll have a good sporting chance of taking him out in an instant. If not, just get your best equipment on and pound him with spells. He's not really that hard if you know what you're doing.

When you beat Big Horn, you'll be able to get the Black Mask. You'll then be able to teleport out of the cave in the back of the room.

Now that you have the Black Mask, you're probably wondering what to do with the Black Mask, since the game never really tells you where the "face of a drone" is. You'll have to head to the Mysidia Cave south of Altea.

Mysidia Cave

You'll meet up with the Bombs on the way to the Mysidia Cave. They explode and damage you if you don't kill them first.

You'll also meet the Cocatrices (Coctrice) on the way there, too. Thankfully, they're not as bad, as you can evade their attacks if they try to Stone you.

The Puddings are weak to Fire. Joy.

The Black Armor increases your Agility by 10 points.
