The Gouche increases your Evade when equipped.
To beat the Gigas inside the chest with the Ice Shield, hit him with the Ancient Sword first. If you can Curse him, you'll be able to stand a much better chance. From there, use Bsrk on your physical-attack based characters, and keep everybody alive!
The Panthers can inflict Envenom on your party, and they can be pretty strong too, so take them out as soon as possible.
The maze leads you to the engine room. Throw the Sun Flame into the engine and the Dark Knight will show up. Maria will notice that he sounds somewhat familiar before you escape back to Altea.
