HCBailly plays Final Fantasy II - Part 11 of 44

We take on the frozen north and enter new horizons that will take us into who-knows-where! Also, Josef has hair after all.

All maps by Paco, except for the overworld map by Rick Bruns.

Salamando

If you mention the Goddess Bell to Josef, he'll tell you it's in the north around the snowy mountain range. You'll need the Ice Cave to get there, and Josef has hidden it in a secret chamber in the Semite Cave, which he's marked. He'll then join your party.

Josef not only has an item named Garlic (which casts Garlic3 when used in battle, which damages the undead), he also has some very powerful fists.

Semite Cave

Yep, it's pretty simple. Just head to that blue tile we disregarded earlier and use the A button on the walls. Since you have Josef in your party, he'll press a small rock on the wall. You'll be able to go through the wall and get the Ice Sled in the next room.

The Snow Field

Prepare to use Fire around this area, as the monsters here are tougher than what you've seen so far.

The Snowmen are very weak enemies.

Snow Cave

The Grenades are like the Balloons, except they have an even higher defense. Cast Fire on it (or the whole lot of them) as soon as possible. If you have Fire, having it at Level 4 before you enter the Snow Cave is well-advised.

The Ghoul (as well as the Zombie and the Deadhead) can both be taken out with the Life spell. That's good, as the Ghoul can Paralyze you with their physical attacks. The Zombie and the Deadhead are also in the Semite Cave, but for some reason HCBailly never met up with them there.
