HCBailly plays Final Fantasy II - Part 14 of 44

We head to Kashuon to hunt for the Egil Torch! What horrors will we face as we climb the next rung on the ladder to taking out the Empire?

All maps by Paco, except for the overworld map by Rick Bruns.

Castle Kashuon

Not only are the monsters past the first floor even tougher, you'll also have to fight the Adamantoise as a random encounter.

To open the locked doors, use the Goddess Bell.

You'll find Gordon shortly after you enter the castle. He'll join your party so you can help him get past the strong monsters and find the Egil Torch.

Gordon may seem pretty weak, and he only has 64 HP and 5 MP, but his stats are pretty good. At least you got that going for you. Which is nice.

Give Gordon the Silver Armor, the Mithril Shield and the Battle Axe, and let him learn Ice with the Ice book. There, now he's slightly more useful.

The Cure book you find here will come into play later on.

The Wererats can Envenom you with their physical attacks, but if you finish them as soon as possible, you won't have to worry about that very much.

The Wraiths can drain your HP with their physical attacks. They also have high magic defense, but if you've powered up your spells, you can still use your magic to destroy them easily.

If you come across an Adamantoise, use your most powerful magic spells against it.

The Were Cane (or Were Bane in future versions) is even more powerful than the Mithril Cane, so if you have somebody mastering Canes, this is worth picking up.

The Ghasts can Paralyze with their physical attacks.
