PrinceWatercress plays Jewel Master - Part 1 of 3

Once upon a moment in time, there was a kingdom known to all as Mythgard. Mythgard prospered in peace until the first coming of the Demon King, Jardine the Mad. Leading his Dark Legion, Jardine was but a step away from obliterating the kingdom...

It was then that the Twelve Master of the Elements rose up to put an end to the Demon King's evil designs. A fierce battle ensued until there remained but four Masters opposing Jardine. Pooling their powers into a Holy Blade, the four Masters prepared for the Final battle...

Stage 1

Left and Right let you move around, Down lets you duck, and Down-Left and Down-Right let you duck walk. Up lets you aim upwards. A lets you use your left hand spell, B lets you use your right hand spell and C lets you jump. When you pause, you can switch rings between Pressing A removes all rings, Press C to select a ring and then move it to a hand then press C again to equip it. You will only have Level 1 Fire (Flame) and Level 1 Water (Barrier) at the beginning. If you press C on a ring on a hand and un-pause, the ring will still be flashing and the game will treat the ring as though it is unequipped. This can be handy for later.

Move right and destroy everything with Flame; Barrier is too weak to protect you against anything. The bigger ogres may hit you, and there may be statues that shoot fireballs at you that you're forced to jump over, but wailing on everything is the key to winning here.

You'll soon be able to beat up an enemy and pick up the Level 1 Wind ring, which allows you to Speed Up and go faster when equipped on its own. Combine it with the Fire Ring to get Fire Ball, which is a stronger projectile with more range.

Jump up the stairs to go up them. Hold Down and press C to go down them.

The fruit refills one unit of health. Your health is on the bottom center, and the bars for that go from green to yellow to red to black. If you run out of health, you will die and be forced to use one of your three continues.

The rock guys are pretty fast, but the landslide monsters can be pretty slow. Jump over the faces in the background that spit fireballs downward so you don't get hit.

The mound near the end contains a gnome that you can free by shooting at the mound. Grab the gnome for an extra unit of health.

To beat the tiger statue, equip Fire Ball and use the C button trick with the Wind Ring. Get below the statues head and keep hitting it with Flame for a few hits, then re-equip the Wind Ring. Jump over the tiger, then turn around, duck and shoot. The tiger will jump over you and will take a hit in the process. It is a slow process, but doable. Just don't shoot from too far away, or else you'll mess up the pattern. You'll also get the Level 1 Earth Ring, which gives you Earth Quake.

Stage 2

Put the Earth Ring and the Water Ring on the same hand for Ice Dagger. This gives you a blue crescent that can go through floors and enemies. It's not as strong as Fire Ball, but still useful. Level 1 Fire plus Level 1 Earth gives you Fire Wall, while Level 1 Water and Level 1 Wind gives you Wave, which is a little faster than Ice Dagger and moves in a sine wave pattern..

Equip a ring on a slot with a ring in it returns the ring to the cross in the center.

Take out all the scorpion-tailed beasts in the ground and the flying enemies as you slowly head right with Fire Ball. Watch out when hitting the cacti, the segments can damage you. Destroy the first sandworm you see for the Level 2 Wind Ring, which gives you a better Fire Ball when combined with Level 1 Fire. On its own, it allows you to jump much higher than normal with High Jump.

In the second section, you'll need High Jump, The maze here is linear and can be easily gotten through. Be sure to use Wave to shoot through walls and ceilings to make things slightly easier with some of the projectile-spitting statues whose projectiles track your current position in eight directions.

The "chimney" near the mini-boss reveals a fairy when jumped into; grab the fairy for another unit of health.

To beat the skeleton mini-boss here, use High Jump to get the boss to circle around you, and hit the boss with the stronger variation of Fire Ball. The skeleton of the mini=boss will slowly explode, and you'll get the Level 2 Fire ring when you win. Combining it with Level 2 Wind gives you a double Fire Ball.

In the last section, use the Wave against the bouncing fireballs and either Wave or the double Fire Ball against the flying enemies.

To beat the Phoenix boss, equip Wave, go all the way to the left and keep firing Wave in the air to the right. When the Phoenix dives, duck down, then start firing in the air at the Phoenix when the Phoenix fires in place and shoots the fire balls that will never hit you. Winning this battle gives you the Level 3 Fire ring.
