PrinceWatercress plays Jewel Master - Part 3 of 3
We're on the final stretch of the game, and the game definitely does not make things easier here.
Stage 5
Use Wave to take out all the birds at the beginning.
Now that you have all twelve rings, it's time to unlock the Elemental Sword. To do that, put Level 3 Wind and Level 3 Earth on one hand and Level 3 Water and Level 3 Fire on the other. By doing this, you'll get the Blade spell for both hands. This lets you wield the Elemental Sword, which can shoot projectiles of mass destruction.
There will be gold boxes that spit flames (which you can duck under or jump over), skeletons with maces that they can swing around and statues that shoot projectiles. The first enemy is indestructible, but the other two are casualties waiting to happen thanks to the Blade.
You'll be able to find a potion that gives you three blocks worth of health as you go up the tower.
There is a green enemy that tries to gnaw at you, but it goes down in one blow with the Blade's projectile.
From here, go down. Thake out the enemies below, then uses Speed Up and Double Jump to avoid the flamethrower-shooting gold blocks that fly at you. From here, go up and use Double Jump to jump across the gold projectiles before spears come out and hit you from below.
Going right from here takes you to a gold box you'll have to destroy. Destroying it will open up a bridge to the next section.
Use the Double Jump to make your way to the right. You'll be switching between this and . Take the platform up, then go left and double jump to the potion so you don't fall down a fake floor and into enemies. Go right from the platform, and take out the statue to continue in that direction. Further to the right, destroy the next statue, then drop down, hold Right and destroy another statue. Drop down, hold right, then keep going right. Use Blade to destroy the ceiling, then keep going right. At the dead end, go up and then left, destroy the ceiling, go right, destroy the Phoenix with Blade and go right.
In the next section, have Blade equipped at all times. Get the whole red statue on screen, then keep shooting Blade projectiles. For the Blue Statue, get the Level 3 version of Fire Ball equipped, then keep most of the blue statue on the right side of the screen while ducking down and shooting Fire Ball at the statue. If you can stand in just the right spot, the statue's projectiles will never hit you.
For the green statue, equip Blade and jump and shoot at it as much as you can. Its ball and chain does a good job of hitting you, but the quicker you kill this boss, the more health you'll be able to keep. Ditto for the gray statue, which keeps shooting Wave.
You'll then face Jardine the Mad at the top. Keep firing Blade at him, and when he turns into a skull, jump over the ball he spits out as he moves around three times, then he will move around three times again before becoming human again. Keep firing Blade at him, and when he is about to turn fully white, have Double Jump equipped so you can jump over the after image of himself that he shoots at you. From here, the pattern repeats himself. For this battle, you just have to get lucky so you don't run into him.
Once Jardine the Mad explodes, peace returns. You've won!

PrinceWatercress plays Jewel Master - Part 2 of 3
We're getting pretty close to the end of the game here, and the difficulty kicks up pretty quickly in this game.
Stage 3
When you start the stage and head to the right, the area will suddenly freeze over. The flying blue faces will follow you around; be sure to take them out. The blue guys who charge at you go down easily with the fireballs, just like the faces. The enemies that that come out of the frozen seas can be easier to deal with - as with all the enemies you'll see at this point - if you advance slowly.
You'll eventually face a mini-boss. The more you shoot, the more he jumps. Keep hitting him with Wave and you'll eventually take him down and get the Level 2 Earth ring. You'll then be able to enter a cave.
In the cave, you'll be in a bit of a maze. Keep High Jump ready for when you need to do some platforming. Take out the bats when you se them. One of the jellyfish at the beginning gives you the Level 2 Water Ring, which allows for a better Wave attack that gives you a double helix shot.
The fireball in the pillar gives you one last addition to your health.
There are wasp nests later in the maze. Take them out to ensure wasps don't respawn.
The boss is a giant turtle. Shoot it in the head when its head is exposed, and watch out for the earthquake caused by the giant turtle stomping its foot, as it causes icicles to come down. Also, there will be ice crystals that shoot out of its back and at your current position. If you stay on the move, it won't hit you. You'll get the Level 3 Water ring after this; get it to end the stage.
Stage 4
Create Wave with the Level 1 Wind Ring and the Level 3 Water Ring. This will make it easier to take out enemies as you go to the right at the beginning. This includes the flying enemies and the faces that spit out the rocks.
You'll eventually walk onto a bridge that falls down before facing a mini-boss: a purple demon that flies around. Keep the Level 3 version of Wave equipped and use the platforms to stay away from the mini-boss and its projectiles. You'll get the Level 3 Wind ring for beating this mini-boss - which allows you to Double Jump - before continuing on to the next section
The enemies on the ledges at the beginning of the section hide two fruits that you can take if you destroy them. This is useful if the mini-boss damaged you quite a bit. Also, there are new enemies here: birds that fly around and trolls that throw rocks downwards
The lava hurts. Double Jump with the Level 3 Wind Ring to get across it.
For the boss, put the Level 1 Wind ring on one hand for Speed Up and the Level 3 Wind and Water Rings for the most powerful form of Wave. When the boss - a purple dragon - drops down, shoot at the head as much as possible, then get away when it lands on the ground. When the boss opens its mouth, be ready to jump to avoid the fireballs. When the boss opens its mouth while looking upwards, get Double Jump ready and use it to avoid all the fireballs it shoots at the ground. When this boss falls, you'll get the Level 3 Earth Ring.
The skeleton of the dragon then falls onto the ground before re-assembling itself. For this phase, have Double Jump ready on one hand and the Level 3 Water and Level 2 Wind rings on the other. Here, you'll have to anticipate where the dragon skeleton will go while shooting and double jumping as you stay away from it. Eventually, you will take this thing down. This boss takes practice to stay away from it, but it is possible.
PrinceWatercress plays Jewel Master - Part 1 of 3
Once upon a moment in time, there was a kingdom known to all as Mythgard. Mythgard prospered in peace until the first coming of the Demon King, Jardine the Mad. Leading his Dark Legion, Jardine was but a step away from obliterating the kingdom...
It was then that the Twelve Master of the Elements rose up to put an end to the Demon King's evil designs. A fierce battle ensued until there remained but four Masters opposing Jardine. Pooling their powers into a Holy Blade, the four Masters prepared for the Final battle...
Stage 1
Left and Right let you move around, Down lets you duck, and Down-Left and Down-Right let you duck walk. Up lets you aim upwards. A lets you use your left hand spell, B lets you use your right hand spell and C lets you jump. When you pause, you can switch rings between Pressing A removes all rings, Press C to select a ring and then move it to a hand then press C again to equip it. You will only have Level 1 Fire (Flame) and Level 1 Water (Barrier) at the beginning. If you press C on a ring on a hand and un-pause, the ring will still be flashing and the game will treat the ring as though it is unequipped. This can be handy for later.
Move right and destroy everything with Flame; Barrier is too weak to protect you against anything. The bigger ogres may hit you, and there may be statues that shoot fireballs at you that you're forced to jump over, but wailing on everything is the key to winning here.
You'll soon be able to beat up an enemy and pick up the Level 1 Wind ring, which allows you to Speed Up and go faster when equipped on its own. Combine it with the Fire Ring to get Fire Ball, which is a stronger projectile with more range.
Jump up the stairs to go up them. Hold Down and press C to go down them.
The fruit refills one unit of health. Your health is on the bottom center, and the bars for that go from green to yellow to red to black. If you run out of health, you will die and be forced to use one of your three continues.
The rock guys are pretty fast, but the landslide monsters can be pretty slow. Jump over the faces in the background that spit fireballs downward so you don't get hit.
The mound near the end contains a gnome that you can free by shooting at the mound. Grab the gnome for an extra unit of health.
To beat the tiger statue, equip Fire Ball and use the C button trick with the Wind Ring. Get below the statues head and keep hitting it with Flame for a few hits, then re-equip the Wind Ring. Jump over the tiger, then turn around, duck and shoot. The tiger will jump over you and will take a hit in the process. It is a slow process, but doable. Just don't shoot from too far away, or else you'll mess up the pattern. You'll also get the Level 1 Earth Ring, which gives you Earth Quake.
Stage 2
Put the Earth Ring and the Water Ring on the same hand for Ice Dagger. This gives you a blue crescent that can go through floors and enemies. It's not as strong as Fire Ball, but still useful. Level 1 Fire plus Level 1 Earth gives you Fire Wall, while Level 1 Water and Level 1 Wind gives you Wave, which is a little faster than Ice Dagger and moves in a sine wave pattern..
Equip a ring on a slot with a ring in it returns the ring to the cross in the center.
Take out all the scorpion-tailed beasts in the ground and the flying enemies as you slowly head right with Fire Ball. Watch out when hitting the cacti, the segments can damage you. Destroy the first sandworm you see for the Level 2 Wind Ring, which gives you a better Fire Ball when combined with Level 1 Fire. On its own, it allows you to jump much higher than normal with High Jump.
In the second section, you'll need High Jump, The maze here is linear and can be easily gotten through. Be sure to use Wave to shoot through walls and ceilings to make things slightly easier with some of the projectile-spitting statues whose projectiles track your current position in eight directions.
The "chimney" near the mini-boss reveals a fairy when jumped into; grab the fairy for another unit of health.
To beat the skeleton mini-boss here, use High Jump to get the boss to circle around you, and hit the boss with the stronger variation of Fire Ball. The skeleton of the mini=boss will slowly explode, and you'll get the Level 2 Fire ring when you win. Combining it with Level 2 Wind gives you a double Fire Ball.
In the last section, use the Wave against the bouncing fireballs and either Wave or the double Fire Ball against the flying enemies.
To beat the Phoenix boss, equip Wave, go all the way to the left and keep firing Wave in the air to the right. When the Phoenix dives, duck down, then start firing in the air at the Phoenix when the Phoenix fires in place and shoots the fire balls that will never hit you. Winning this battle gives you the Level 3 Fire ring.
