Time to pick up some useful items!
Junk Man
Use the Freeze Cracker on the lava waterfall shortly after the elevator segment. Go to the right and through the wall, and you'll be able to drop down to another segment. Use the Freeze Cracker on the waterfall to the left to get the S icon.
Cloud Man
Now that you have the Freeze Cracker, hit the weather robots that are floating around with it to make it snow. Now that you'll be able to see the platforms, use Rush Coil to reach the ladder on the high platform. Go up the ladder, then go left for the U icon. (To the right of the ladder is a useful extra life.)
By spelling out "RUSH," you'll be able to get the Rush Power Adapter! This is just like the Jet armor from the sixth game. Equip it, then press Y to finally see this thing in action. Press B in mid-air to hover forward. Charging up the Mega Buster will shoot a fist forward with limited range. The armor will not allow you to slide.
