In this entry, we head to Pokitaru, but the resort is not the idyllic paradise we expected it to be thanks to Drek.
Jowai Resort - Pokitaru
The Gadgetron Vendor in Pokitaru carries the Decoy Glove. When you use the Decoy Glove, it will shoot out a cardboard decoy of Ratchet that will distract enemies, allowing you to either destroy them or get away from them.
You'll eventually see the guy in charge of the resort from the Infobot. He will tell you that the resort is closing down due to Drek's forces dumping toxic waste and turning the wildlife into bloodthirsty mutants. However, he does have one O2 mask left, but to get it - and a jet fighter - you'll have to help him get to the other side of the resort.
This soon becomes an escort mission, and you'll have to get this guy from point A to point B. The orange fish will roll into a ball and jump at you, while the pink octopus enemies will shoot energy waves at you if you get close enough to them.
There are two boats you'll have to ride on the way to the other side of the resort. When you get on the boat, equip the Pyrocitor. This makes it easier to defeat the fish that jump on; just stay on the back of the ship, face the front, go into first-person view mode and fire when necessary. There is also a Sand Mouse House that you can utilize near the first boat to make the beginning of this planet easier.
As you go through this stage, the orange spiky fish will become more and more numerous. You'll be using the wrench like a boomerang as well as the Blaster to take care of them (for the most part). When you get closer to the other end of the resort, you'll also be using the Glove of Doom.
When you get to the other end of the resort, you'll find out that the jet fighter is behind a lock, and the guy in charge of the resort isn't able to open it. He will point you towards the nearby Roboshack, where Bob will be able to give you another upgrade. This upgrade is the Thruster-Pack, which is the improved version of the Heli-Pack. For 2,000 bolt, you'll not only be able to glide, high jump and long jump with a jetpack-like apparatus, but you can also open the lock. To open the lock, get the Thruster-Pack and have it equipped, then stand on the lock, jump straight up and press R1. This will slam down the lock, opening the hangar door and giving you the jet fighter.
When you fly the jet plane, you'll be able to fight off Drek's aerial forces above the planet. Use the Control Pad or left stick to ascend, descend and turn, press Square for machine guns, press Circle to fire homing missiles, and press and hold X to accelerate. You'll need to fire the machine guns and homing missiles at the centipede-shaped ships that are flying around to destroy them. If you need health or ammo, shoot down the small ships. The boxes with the red crosses give you health, while the boxes with the G's on them give you homing missiles. The smaller ships will keep hounding you, and you'll want to get rid of them before they whittle down your health, which is in the lower-right corner along with the radar. If it's a yellow blip, it's an enemy. When you destroy all the big centipede-shaped ships, you'll get the O2 mask, and you'll never see the guy in charge of the resort ever again. You're finished here...for now. Now you can not only breathe underwater, but you can also breathe in Orxon, allowing you to play as Ratchet there.
